Not What I Had in Mind!

***A little bummed today. I was looking forward to a day at Ikea with my family, but my business got in the way. Oh well, there will be other Saturdays. I still get to spend the morning with Mom doing our usual Saturday morning stuff. We've had a beautiful week weather-wise, hope it continues for the weekend. I've been doing a little better with exercising this week and plan to continue. I feel so much better even with just a 15-20 minute walk.

***Andrew McCarthy says Obama deserves impeachment over the Iran deal. But...I don't think there are enough guts in the GOP to go ahead with it. There are some standouts, to be sure, but a few principled Republicans such as Trey Gowdy and Ted Cruz can't get anything done if they are outnumbered by weak-kneed RINOs. They know they'll be trashed in the press. Hard to believe that they still don't get that they will never get positive press as long as they're Republicans, unless of course they're trashing their own. Then they're media darlings.

The president “must certainly be punishable for giving false information to the Senate.” One can imagine hearing such counsel from a contemporary United States senator on the receiving end of President Obama’s “full disclosure” of the nuclear deal with Iran. But the admonition actually came from James Iredell, a champion of the Constitution’s ratification, who was later appointed to the Supreme Court by President George Washington. Iredell was addressing the obligations the new Constitution imposed on the president in the arena of international affairs. Notwithstanding the chief executive’s broad powers to “regulate all intercourse with foreign powers,” it would be the president’s “duty to impart to the Senate every material intelligence he receives.” Indeed, among the most egregious offenses a president could commit would be fraudulently inducing senators “to enter into measures injurious to their country, and which they would not have consented to had the true state of things been disclosed to them.”

This is only one of many things the president has done that are impeachable.

***I'm singing a song in church tomorrow that always lifts my spirits when I get down due to stories such as the above. It's called "Flawless," by MercyMe. Follow the link to the YouTube video. The chorus:

No matter the bumps, no matter the bruises
No matter the scars, still the truth is
The Cross has made, the Cross has made you FLAWLESS

No matter the hurt, or how deep the wound is
No matter the pain, still the truth is
The Cross has made, the Cross has made you FLAWLESS

This song is all about grace, and reminds me that everything is going to be great in the end, no matter how it looks now and what we're going through.

Never Give Up!

Sir Winston Churchill took three years getting through eighth grade because he had trouble learning English. It seems ironic that years later Oxford University asked him to address its commencement exercises.
He arrived with his usual props. A cigar, a cane and a top hat accompanied Churchill wherever he went. As Churchill approached the podium, the crowd rose in appreciative applause. With unmatched dignity, he settled the crowd and stood confident before his admirers. Removing the cigar and carefully placing the top hat on the podium, Churchill gazed at his waiting audience. Authority rang in Churchill’s voice as he shouted, “Never give up!”
Several seconds passed before he rose to his toes and repeated: “Never give up!” His words thundered in their ears. There was a deafening silence as Churchill reached for his hat and cigar, steadied himself with his cane and left the platform. His commencement address was finished.

***Rush Limbaugh says watch Carly Fiorina. I like her more every time I hear her speak. I think a Walker/Fiorina ticket would be a winner for the GOP.

***Restaurants warn NY push for $15 wage could close hundreds of businesses. Ever notice that liberals never learn? No matter how many times socialism fails, they want to try it again.
Critics are blasting a New York Wage Board decision to hike the minimum wage to $15 an hour for fast food establishments that threatens to close hundreds of businesses.
The International Franchise Association, which represents tens of thousands of major chain restaurants and their franchisees, said that the decision could lead to massive job losses and closed stores.
The "New York wage board decision to discriminate against the quick service food industry will cost jobs and potentially cause small businesses to close," IFA president & CEO Steve Caldeira said in a statement. "Applying a new mandatory minimum wage increase to a narrow group of businesses creates an un-level playing field for owners that provide important entry-level jobs and valuable experience for millions of workers across the state of New York."
The government should not be mandating what businesses pay their employees. That is massive government overreach, but it's what liberals do. They want centralized power in order to dictate how we may live our lives, what we can and can't do, how much of our money we're allowed to keep. It always gets me when I'm in a debate with a liberal about the "rich," and they talk about how they're "hiding their money." Can't they see what's wrong with that statement? Why should they have to hide THEIR money? Easy, so the government can't confiscate it. But to a liberal, that is a sin. The government, after all, knows better than we how our money should be spent, right?
