Perverted Priorities

***Do they really not have anything more pressing going on right now? Jarrett fights sexual orientation conversion therapy.

“So our first job is to get out the scientific information. You know, parents — I’m a mom. We want to do right by our parent — our children. And we want to raise them to be healthy. We want to make life as easy on them as possible,” she said. “And so what we want to make sure is that the information is out there about how destructive these practices can be. And just as you have spoken to many transgenders, I’m sure, who have been subjected to this therapy, so have I. And the impact on their lives is — is devastating.”

So now she's a mental health expert. The scariest sentence in there is "I'm a mom." What's she's NOT pointing out is that it is not "devastating," it is very helpful to many. What about gender-changing surgery? There is a high suicide rate among those who have had that done, why aren't they all worried about that? Because they're empty-headed liberals, that's why.

***Gun control push backfires. Good.

The American firearms industry is as healthy as ever, seeing an unprecedented surge that has sent production of guns soaring to more than 10.8 million manufactured in 2013 alone — double the total of just three years earlier.
The 2013 surge — the latest for which the government has figures — came in the first full year after the December 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, signaling that the push for stricter gun controls, strongly backed by President Obama, did little to chill the industry despite the passage of stricter laws in states such as New York, Maryland, Connecticut and California.

This is at least one right they're finding it hard to take away.

***Pentagon prepares robots to fight wars. Hmmmm...won't be long before Obama insists on sharing the technology with ISIS.

Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work on Wednesday outlined the Pentagon’s plans for an advanced war-fighting strategy involving robot weapons and remote-controlled warfare.
In a speech to the Army War College Strategy Conference, Mr. Work said the “third offset strategy” will rely heavily on autonomous systems that will allow machines and U.S. technological superiority to win wars.

No idea why I thought you needed to know that.

***Remember "Smokey & the Bandit?" The Trans Am Burt Reynolds drove is going on the auction block.

***"Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" renewed through 2018. My mom and mother-in-law never miss those shows.

Sore spot for me this time of year, believe me. I realize we need courts, cops, and roads, but the government is way too big and it confiscates way too much of our money.

Patrick Henry (May 29, 1736 – June 6, 1799) was an American attorney, planter and politician who became known as an orator during the movement for independence in Virginia in the 1770s. A Founding Father, he served as the first and sixth post-colonial Governor of Virginia, from 1776 to 1779 and from 1784 to 1786.
Henry led the opposition to the Stamp Act 1765 and is remembered for his "Give me liberty, or give me death!" speech. Along with Samuel Adams and Thomas Paine, he is regarded as one of the most influential champions of Republicanism and an invested promoter of the American Revolution and its fight for independence.
After the Revolution, Henry was a leader of the anti-federalists in Virginia. He opposed the United States Constitution, fearing that it endangered the rights of the States as well as the freedoms of individuals; he helped gain adoption of the Bill of Rights. By 1798 however, he supported President John Adams and the Federalists; he denounced passage of the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions as he feared the social unrest and widespread executions that had followed the increasing radicalism of the French Revolution.
