No Question

***For any thinking person, there is no question about Barack Obama's loyalties, his mindset, or his intentions for this country. He is a socialist/communist at best, a Muslim terrorist sympathizer/traitor at worst.

There is no way you can look at his actions since becoming president and come to the conclusion that he wants what is best for this country. Everything he has done, every executive order, every eclair-spined foreign policy speech screams his disdain for America. The fact that he went to a fundraiser the day after 4 Americans were slaughtered in Benghazi and hit the golf course after his comments on the beheading of an American by terrorists should be enough for Americans to rise up and stage a coup to run him out of office. But...Benghazi happened in September, he was re-elected in October. There has been little coverage on the major networks of his stunningly cold actions, or non-actions, when it comes to American soldiers dying or American citizens suffering due to his actions. No, it's always someone else's fault. When I see someone still daring to defend him, it makes me sick to my stomach that there is such an abundance of ignorance in some pockets of America. I truly do fear for our future.

***Well, on a lighter note - we had an absolutely wonderful time last night at my sister-in-law's retirement dinner. Went to the Gennett Mansion for dinner. I've never had a 5 course dinner, served one course at a time. The mansion is beautiful and the dinner was great! I highly recommend it.

Earlier in the day we had our Gabbard (mom's side) family reunion at my sister's house. Got a little soggy, but we still had a great time! Talk about a busy Saturday. Today and tomorrow will be working days.

***Ted Cruz: "Bomb ISIS back to the Stone Age."  Definitely agree. Unfortunately, liberals will be calling HIM a barbarian, not the guys who behead people because they disagree with their politics. Rush is right, ISIS is not about religion. It is a political ideology hiding behind the vestiges of religion.

***Well, something good is coming from the implementation of Common Core: Common Core anger triggers home schooling surge in North Carolina.

Unfortunately, it's only a matter of time before they find a way to outlaw home schooling. Because, of course, the feds can't allow something to continue that actually WORKS.

***Hypocrisy of Hollywood's violence profiteers. These people make me sick. I haven't watched ANY awards show for a long, long time. They're a bunch of plastic people who are unable to think and repeat the "right" things to keep them in tight with their rich, liberal peers.

Did you miss Tinseltown’s latest political correctness powwow? Preening celebrities showed their solidarity with Ferguson, Mo., at the MTV Video Music Awards show this week. Rapper Common led the convocation, preachifying about the positive impact of hip-hop music on society as a “powerful instrument of social change” and “truth.”
Cameras showed drug-addled gangsta rapper Snoop Dogg bowing his head and flashing a peace sign during a “moment of silence” for Ferguson. MTV President Stephen Friedman aired public service announcements plying social justice messages. “It’s a call to action to our audience that we have to confront our own bias head-on before we can truly create change,” Friedman pontificated.
Spare me the shizzle and hypocri-dizzle.
While these Hollywood do-gooders gnash their Zoom!-brightened teeth over violence in the black community, they turn their Restylane-filled cheeks from the bullet-riddled violence glamorized by their own industry.

Rap music glorifies rape, killing police, drugs, you name it, then calls itself a "powerful instrument of social change and truth?" Yeah, right.

Advertising Weakness

***Could it be more obvious that Barack Obama is not interested in protecting this country or her people?  Jonah Goldberg has a great piece over at National Review Online: Shhhhh, Mr. President.

Yesterday at his news conference, the president said he doesn’t have a strategy yet for the Islamic State. The blowback required the White House to send out his spinners like a farmer sending out his sons in search of a wayward hog. Personally, I don’t care that the president doesn’t have a strategy for the Islamic State — yet. One of the downsides of leading from behind is that it by definition allows problems to fester and become more complex. (“In other news today, six people burned to death as firefighters watched another building burn to the ground as part of Fire Chief Obama’s ‘firefighting from behind’ initiative.”)
How to deal with the Islamic State right now is a very tough question, particularly if you’re Barack Obama. What bothers me is his decision to announce to the world he has pretty much no idea what he’s doing. Taking your time to formulate a strategy, even — especially! — a strategy necessitated by your own mistakes and inattention is entirely defensible.
But when the world already thinks you’re weak, vacillating, and overwhelmed, saying in the pithiest way possible that you’re weak, vacillating, and overwhelmed strikes me as a mistake.

The Imams must be laughing their turbans off. What luck for them that we elected this weak-spined, know-nothing goober as our president. They KNOW he won't do anything about whatever they do, so they're pretty free to do whatever they want. Vladimir Putin as well must be thanking his lucky stars that his adversary knows nothing of foreign policy, and isn't afraid to broadcast his ignorance to the world.

OBAMA:  I don't want to put the cart before the horse.  We don't have a strategy yet.  I think what I've seen in some of the news reports suggests that folks are getting a little further ahead of where we're at than we currently are.  And I think that's not just my assessment, but the assessment of our military as well.  We need to make sure that we've got clear plans, that we're developing them.  At that point I will consult with Congress and make sure that their voices are heard.

Wow, Obama, really forceful there. You told the world you have no clue what to do. Nicely done. And on Russia?

OBAMA:  We are not taking military action to solve the Ukrainian problem.  What we're doing is to mobilize the international community to apply pressure on Russia.  But I think it is very important to recognize that a military solution to this problem is not gonna be forthcoming.

So, there you just told Putin he can basically do whatever he wants, because you won't do anything about it. This is making me nuts! I wish we could get him out of office right now, because I'm not sure we're gonna last until 2016.

***I'm pretty sure I'm never gonna make potato salad again. Well, at least not for a while. I made 5 lbs worth last week for mom's birthday party; this morning I made two more 5 lb batches, one for Kearami Redmond's fundraiser at our church, the other for a family reunion this afternoon. Gonna be another busy Saturday. Thank goodness Monday's a holiday, that'll give me some time to catch up on my work.

“Oh could I raise the darken’d veil”

By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Oh could I raise the darken’d veil,
Which hides my future life from me,
Could unborn ages slowly sail,
Before my view—and could I see
My every action painted there,
To cast one look I would not dare.
There poverty and grief might stand,
And dark Despair’s corroding hand,
Would make me seek the lonely tomb
To slumber in its endless gloom.
Then let me never cast a look,
Within Fate’s fix’d mysterious book.

***Russia invades Ukraine, Obama expresses "concern." Really, if you still support this poor excuse for a president, there's something wrong with you.

Russian forces in two armored columns captured a key southeastern coastal town near the Russian border Thursday after Ukrainian forces retreated in the face of superior firepower, a Ukrainian military spokesman said.
The two Russian columns, including tanks and armored fighting vehicles, entered the town of Novoazovsk on the Sea of Azov after a battle in which Ukrainian army positions came under fire from Grad rockets launched from Russian territory, according to the spokesman, Col. Andriy Lysenko.
“Our border servicemen and guardsmen retreated as they did not have heavy equipment,” Lysenko said in a statement.

Now, here is our teddy bear of a president's response:

What was the Obama administration’s initial reaction? “These incursions indicate a Russian-directed counteroffensive is likely underway in Donetsk and Luhansk. Clearly, that is of deep concern to us,” a State Department spokeswoman said yesterday. She could not have been more inoffensive. Oh, the administration is also “concerned by the Russian Government’s unwillingness to tell the truth even as its soldiers are found 30 miles inside Ukraine. Russia is sending its young men into Ukraine but are telling – are not telling them where they’re going or telling their parents what they’re doing.” The spokeswoman further indicated that we wouldn’t change our policy of refusing to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons.

Made Up Facts

***I am really sick of this thug Michael Brown being treated like a saint. He was given a hero's funeral, for heaven's sake. Here are some hard truths his frankly very stupid supporters choose to ignore.

Brown’s own cousin, Eric Davis, eulogized the dead thug by calling on the weeping voting bloc to, head to the polls, vote for change and said…“enough of the senseless killings.”
Senseless killings?

We don’t even know for a fact what happened. The investigation is still under way. There are witness reports in direct contradiction to one another. None of that matters to those who are turning this punk into a saint. They’ve made up their minds and no facts, should the facts fly in the face of mob mentality, will change their minds.brown 2
Davis went on to say that Mike Brown, his cousin, was a “big guy, but a kind, gentle soul,” who said that one day, the whole world would know his name.
He apparently didn’t say why but, according to Davis…”He did not know he was offering up a divine prophecy at that time.”
Mike Brown…thug…flasher of gang signs, poser in photos while giving the finger to the world.
Mike Brown who, just scant minutes before becoming the latest martyr to the ‘we’re black and we’re pissed’ collective of the liberal ‘gimme, gimme because I deserve it or I’ll just steal it’ drains on the system, stole from a convenience store and strong armed the shopkeeper has now been lifted from  his self-imposed victim’s life to the deliverer of a “divine prophecy” in his death.
Obviously, all Mike Brown had to do to achieve immortality was…die at the hand of a white cop.

Read the whole thing, and remember if a white man dies at the hand of a black cop, nobody even knows about it - and we don't loot and riot in the street.

The Madness of 2008

***Absolutely spot on piece by Victor Davis Hanson.

America is suddenly angry at the laxity, incompetence, and polarizing politics of the Obama administration, the bad optics of the president putting about in his bright golf clothes while the world burns. Certainly, no recent president has failed on so many fronts — honesty, transparency, truthfulness, the economy, foreign policy, the duties of the commander-in-chief, executive responsibilities, and spiritual leadership.
For those who are “shocked” at the present meltdown, of a magnitude not seen since the annus horribilis of 1979, in their defense: Obama certainly did not campaign on a new health-care plan that would force Americans to give up the doctors they liked and their existing coverage, while raising premiums and deductibles, while giving exemptions for insiders and cronies, and while raising the deficit.
Nor did we hear on the campaign trail that Obama would push gay marriage, open borders, near-permanent zero interest rates, six consecutive $1 trillion deficits, and record food-stamp and Social Security disability payouts. He criticized Bush for relatively minor executive orders, suggesting that he would never rule by fiat — as he since has done in matters of Obamacare, immigration law, and environmental regulations. Remember the promise of ending the revolving door and stopping aides from cashing in — and then follow the post-administration careers of Obama’s closest advisers.Obama promised to halve the deficit — not run up more red ink than almost all prior presidents combined. Indeed, he once as a senator voted against raising the debt limit and blasted Bush for borrowing from China. He once sermonized to us that the presidency is serious stuff, that it entails inordinate personal sacrifice and even a virtual absence of downtime and vacation — and then he became just the sort of president he was critiquing. But those deceptions were simply politics as usual, and it was logical for the hard leftist Barack Obama to try to appear to be a moderate, given that no Northern liberal had won the presidency in the half-century since John F. Kennedy.

Read the whole thing. Hanson, as usual, nails every point.

***Ferguson-like attack in Utah escapes media attention; racial bias seen. Well, of course.

On the surface, the cases appear nearly identical: Michael Brown and Dillon Taylor, two young, unarmed men with sketchy criminal pasts shot to death by police officers two days apart.
But while the world knows of the highly publicized situation involving 18-year-old Mr. Brown, whose Aug. 9 death in Ferguson, Missouri touched off violence, protests and an angry national debate, most people outside Utah have never heard of 20-year-old Mr. Taylor.

Critics say there’s a reason for the discrepancy in media coverage: race. Mr. Brown was black and the officer who shot him was white. Mr. Taylor wasn’t black — he’s been described as white and Hispanic — and the officer who shot him Aug. 11 outside a 7-Eleven in South Salt Lake wasn’t white.
The perceived double standard is fueling resentment and talk of double standards on conservative talk radio and social media, where the website Twitchy has compiled a list of Twitter comments asking why Mr. Brown’s death has been front-page news for weeks while Mr. Taylor’s was a footnote at best.

Black cop kills unarmed white male #DillonTaylor in Utah,” says a Thursday post on Twitter by radio talk-show host Wayne Dupree, who is black. “#LiberalMedia can’t find [their] way to cover the story.”
Unarmed: Dillon Taylor, 20, who was shot and killed by a Salt Lake City police officer outside a convenience store. (Facebook)
Unarmed: Dillon Taylor, 20, who was shot and killed by a Salt ... more >
A sarcastic Sunday tweet from Valerie said, “CNN Please! We need the name and home address of #DillonTaylor’s killer immediately. Why hasn’t he been arrested??!!!!!”
The bias couldn't possibly be more blatant.

How They Roll

***Here are several examples of Democrats trying to destroy Republicans via the court system when they can't beat them at the ballot box. It's sleaze to the highest degree, and it's routinely done by liberals.

***Obama is rewarding criminals. Well of course he is. From Sheriff Joe Arpaio:

Our country is under attack.
And Barack Obama is the aggressor. That’s right. Our own President has overseen the release of thousands of illegal immigrants…hundreds of whom are convicted criminals – even felons, which are flooding into America.
Every day you read the newspaper or turn on the news, there is something tragic happening, something Obama says is beyond our control.
But I must tell you: the state of the U.S. – Mexican border IS NOT BEYOND OUR CONTROL. In fact, it’s one of the key places where the safety of our nation starts. AND I am working around the clock to take criminals off the streets. Will you support my reelection campaign with a $15 or more donation right now?
Every action Obama has taken since the border crisis began has led to an increase in the flood of men, women, children, AND CRIMINALS! The icing on the cake…Obama’s solution is holding events at the White House “honoring young adults who came to this country illegally.”
HE IS REWARDING CRIMINALS! We are arresting them just to have the Obama administration release them the next day!

Obama should have been removed from office a long time ago. But he's black, so it's not going to happen.

Getting a job can be difficult for anyone in our nation’s ongoing employment slump. For every job opening, there are currently more than three unemployed people looking for work. And those already-difficult odds are significantly exacerbated for job applicants who can’t afford a home.
“If you’ve been homeless and have a gap on your resume, people don’t give you a chance,” Seth Kelley, co-founder of RedTail Coffee in Fort Collins, told ThinkProgress by phone. “It’s a cycle that’s really hard to shake.”
That’s why Seth, along with his wife Kelly, opened RedTail Coffee in May: to provide job opportunities to homeless and low-income applicants.

The Pink Cookie Caper

***Important stuff here. Nice to know the feds know their priorities.

School children in Elyria, Ohio are mourning the demise of a 40-year tradition – the loss of their beloved pink cookie. The fabled cookie, long served in local school cafeterias, was done in by a pound of butter, six cups of powdered sugar and the Obama administration’s food police.
“It no longer meets the national school lunch program guidelines for snacks,” said Amy Higgins, the spokesperson for Elyria City Schools. “It has too many calories.”
The USDA “Smart Snacks in School” standards mandate that all snacks must contain less than 200 calories. It’s not exactly clear how many calories are in the pink cookie but the recipe for the frosting calls for a pound of butter.

Could somebody please point me to the passage in the Constitution which gives the federal government the right to tell us what we can and can't eat?

***Mainstream media covering for George Soros. Of course they are. They are on the same team.

On January 27, 1998, then First Lady Hillary Clinton – without a shred of credible evidence – infamously claimed during an NBC "Today Show" interview with Matt Lauer that a “vast right-wing conspiracy” had been working to destroy her husband “since the day he announced for president.”
Sixteen years later we have tangible, documented proof that a vast left-wing conspiracy is in fact out to destroy conservative presidential hopeful Gov. Rick Perry, and the liberals who run the establishment media are doing everything possible to cover it up.
The alleged wrongdoing by Gov. Perry is a farce and the indictment a brazen political abuse, denounced by conservatives and liberals, Republicans and Democrats alike.

And George Soros is the one behind it. I'd love it if Perry could find a way to sue him for defamation of character. Oh, how I'd love to see his wrinkled carcass in an orange jumpsuit.

So What?

***The Government Accountability Office says the Pentagon broke the law when it swapped Bowie Bergdahl for 5 Taliban leaders. Don't forget that this was at the behest of Barack Obama - because the news media will certainly leave that little inconvenient factoid out. The reason I say "So What?" is because this administration is never held accountable for anything, and never will be as long as there is a Democrat-controlled Senate and a liberal hack news media who will continue to cover Obama's skinny behind and keep the myriad low information voters in the dark about what an evil, traitorous man he really is.

***Obama stands alone. He really does not care what anybody thinks. What a slap in the face to patriotic Americans.

***Fraud in plain sight: Food stamps sold online for art, housing, cash. Aren't you happy to be paying for these people to live better than you do?

Food stamp recipients were selling their benefits online in exchange for money, housing or even art, according to a report federal investigators released Thursday that showed states manage to catch just a fraction of potential fraud in the sprawling program.
Use of the food stamps, now officially known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, has skyrocketed under President Obama, reaching 47 million recipients at a cost of $76 billion last year. But states recovered just $74 million in fraudulent payments the previous year, according to the Government Accountability Office.
GAO investigators reviewed records from 11 states and found they lacked sufficient staff and tools to catch fraud in the ballooning program.

" I hadn't talked to my family or my friends in what seemed like weeks because you're so busy doing other things and just kind of had to had that reassuring moment, like okay, I know God's still in this. [I] just needed to know I was doing the right thing, and after being encouraged and reassured of that, I was good to go."
Dixon hopes his struggle on "Idol" can be an inspiration to his fans going through a hard time.
"I think a lot of us struggle with doubt or whatever and it's in those moments that our faith is tested," the 22-year-old said. "You can either grow in your faith or you can take a step backwards and I just want to encourage people to trust that He's right there."

***From Jim Daly at Focus on the Family:

If you’ve had an eye on the news lately, you’ve no doubt heard reports about the terrorist group ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), more recently known as “The Islamic State.”
They’re a well-armed Muslim extremist group sweeping throughout Iraq, exercising both military and political control over the regions they conquer.
Just the other day we saw grisly images of the beheading of the American journalist, James Foley. ISIS claimed responsibility for his murder.
Beyond the political complications usually addressed on the nightly news are disturbing accounts that hit much closer to home for all of us who profess the name of Christ.
Our fellow believers in Iraq are suffering intense persecution.
Thousands have been forced to flee their homes, their abandoned neighborhoods pillaged and destroyed. On the run, food and water are scarce, and survival is difficult. If they’re captured, families are torn apart. Women and children are often sold.
And these Christians face two choices – convert or die.

More at the link. Don't forget to pray for our Christian brothers and sisters who are going through such awful persecution.

***Abide With Me
by Henry Frances Lyte

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
change and decay in all around I see;
O thou who changest not, abide with me.

I need thy presence every passing hour.
What but thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with thee at hand to bless;
ills have no weight, and tears not bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if thou abide with me.

Hold thou thy cross before my closing eyes;
shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Fed Up

***Great piece by George Will today:

The collapse of confidence in government is not primarily because many conspicuous leaders are conspicuously dimwitted, although when Joe Biden refers to “the nation of Africa,” or Harry Reid disparages the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision as rendered by “five white men” (who included Clarence Thomas), Americans understand that their increasingly ludicrous government lacks adult supervision. What they might not understand is that Reids and Bidens come with government so bereft of restraint and so disoriented by delusions of grandeur that it gives fighting knives to police and grief to purveyors of noncompliant cupcakes.

"We hunt for the most exotic tobaccos around the world," Hansotia said, rationalizing the nearly $1,000 price tag. The company produces about 20,000 boxes per year, and has a three-year waiting list. Clients include business leaders, royal families and dignitaries. A-List celebrities like Matthew McConaughey -- and apparently one former president -- also smoke the company's premium cigars.
"Bill Clinton loves the Beauties; he loves the Gurkhas," Hansotia said.

Yep, just regular folks.

***Note this from Laura Ingraham: “What do you think would have happened, guys, if tea party activists, right, came to Washington D.C. after the IRS scandal broke and decided to start smashing windows, rampaging through neighborhoods, throwing fire bombs. What do you think Eric Holder and Barack Obama would do? Would they start saying, ‘Well, we understand that people are angry, we really get your emotion here, but this isn’t acceptable.' Do you really think there would have been this nuanced language, this emoting that has become the pastime of this administration?” gotta be the "right" color and/or in the "right" party in order to get away with that stuff.

The Real Villain of Ferguson

***Great piece by Roger Simon:

The Great Society.  There, I’ve said it.  The Great Society, which I voted for and supported from the bottom of my heart, is the villain behind Ferguson.  Ferguson is the Great Society writ large because the Great Society convinced, and then reassured, black people that they were victims, taught them that being a victim and playing a victim was the way to go always and forever.  And then it repeated the point ad infinitum from its debut in 1964 until now — a conveniently easy to compute fifty years — as it all became a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The Great Society and similar policies screwed black people to the wall. It was racist to the core without knowing it.  Nobody used the N-word.  In fact, it was forbidden, unless you were Dr. Dre or somebody.  But it did its job without the word and did it better for being in disguise.  Those misbegotten kids running around Ferguson high on reefer and wasting their lives screaming at cops are the product of all this.

This is EXACTLY what "progressives" want. Whites and blacks at each other's throats, giving them an excuse to grab more power and declare a police state. Do you really thing Sharpton and Jackson would be running their mouths the way they have if they wanted it to stop? Don't you think the president would have stepped in and lent some support if he wanted it to stop? Democrats only know how to exploit and exacerbate problems, they have no idea how to actually deal with them. That is painfully obvious to all but their ignorant, loyal, low information voters.

Then there's this: Over a dozen witnesses back up cop's account of what happened in Ferguson. Not hearing much from the media about this, are you? Nope, doesn't fit the narrative.

***Please help defeat Mary Landrieu. Notice their ads never concentrate on Democrat ideas or plans. Nope, it's always destroy the opposition. That's because they don't have any ideas other than grabbing as much power as possible.

***Company accuses labor union of forging signatures for political gain. I'm shocked, SHOCKED!

A home health-care company contracted with the Milwaukee County Department of Family Care is accusing a local labor union of forging workers’ signatures to collect more money for political activity.
Art Beck, a Milwaukee attorney representing Sally Sprenger, owner of Supportive Homecare Options Inc., told Wisconsin Reporter two employees have come forward since April alleging they were signed up to make contributions without their authority.
The contributions were for the Committee on Political Education through the Service Employees International Union Healthcare Wisconsin.
After reviewing their forms for voluntary COPE deductions, which help fund union causes for political gain, the workers discovered their signatures were fraudulent, Beck said.
“It’s like a foreign document to them,” Beck said of the COPE application sheet. “They never saw it (before).”

What a Shock!

***The people behind the entirely politically motivated, absurd charges against Rick Perry are none other than  a group funded by that low-life, anti-American hack, George Soros, Texans for Public Justice.

Democrats in Texas were muted, to say the least, at the time of Lehmberg’s arrest in 2013, but reacted gleefully to Perry’s indictment. Facebook lit up with comments from Democrats that this would “turn Texas blue,” a feat that Democrats have been unable to accomplish at the ballot box since they started losing power in the 1990s. Such comments also give the game away — the indictment is carrying politics over from an arena where Democrats lose — the ballot box — to an arena where they might win — sympathetic juries in Democrat-controlled Travis County. Battleground Texas has been hard at work fundraising off of the indictment. The chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, Gilberto Hinojosa, is among prominent Democrats who have called on Perry to resign.
Notably, the Democrats from Hinojosa on down have been more than tolerant of Lehmberg’s drunk driving and abuse of power. They have also stood silent in the face of the indictment of Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price on serious corruption charges.

If Texas is ever flipped like California was with the first wave of amnesty, Republicans will never win a national election again. That is exactly what Democrats are after, and they don't care who they have to roll over to do it.

by William Ernest Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Fret Not

***I was all prepared to vent about our out of control president inserting himself into police investigations, suppressing evidence, influencing the news cycle (oh, there's a new one), etc. etc., but decided to focus on what spoke to me this morning in church. Pastor James started the service with this scripture reading:

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth.
10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Psalm 37:1-11

This Psalm was written by David. It is an exhortation to believers, a reminder that in the end, the righteous will prevail and evil ones will be cut off. It's a personal reminder to me, as I find myself angry every day when I read the news (the REAL news, not the watered down, leftist hack news most people seem to read). I find myself getting cynical and filled with animosity toward those who seem to have the upper hand right now. I know their ends will be awful, and we will prevail, but how difficult it is to remember that every day!

Here is a good Charles Spurgeon study on this Psalm if you have the time.

***We sang "Because He Lives" this morning,  and the second verse says:

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

What a great promise.
