Another Try!

***Well, hopefully I can blog without losing the whole thing again. Not sure what happened yesterday. Mark's birthday dinner was a big success! I broiled the ribeye steaks and they turned out really well. We were going to have filet mignon, but they were just too dang expensive. Sheesh.

***A double standard for political gaffes. Well, of course. The media looks the other way when a Democrat candidate from Florida says, "We have a lot of employers over on the beaches that rely upon workers, and especially in this high-growth environment, where are you going to get people to work to clean out hotel rooms or do our landscaping," she said. Imagine if a Republican had said that. Or Joe Biden, the gift that keeps on giving. Remember how they crucified Dan Quayle? He didn't hold a candle to Biden's idiocy, but you never hear anything about things like, "I told the president, next game, I've got him. I may be a white boy, but I can jump."

Our news media sucks.

***Obama's shocking weakness. Well, it doesn't shock anyone who has been paying attention.

Charles Krauthammer told viewers Friday on "Special Report with Bret Baier" that President Obama's statement on the latest Ukraine developments showed "weakness," and implied that "we're not really going to do anything" about the political upheaval in Ukraine.
On Friday, armed men, allegedly Russian military forces, entered the Crimea region and took control of two airports. President Obama then delivered a message from the White House briefing room, saying he was "deeply concerned" by the reports and that "there will be costs" for any military intervention in Ukraine, though he declined to specify what those costs might be.
Krauthammer, however, said the president's statement failed to make strong waves.
"The Ukrainians, and I think everybody, is shocked by the weakness of Obama's statement," he said. "What he's saying is, we're not really going to do anything."

Meanwhile,

Hundreds of unidentified gunmen have arrived outside Ukraine's infantry base in Privolnoye in its Crimea region, Associated Press journalists said.
The convoy includes at least 13 troop vehicles each containing 30 soldiers and four armored vehicles with mounted machine guns. The vehicles -- which have Russian license plates -- have surrounded the base and are blocking Ukrainian soldiers from entering or leaving it.
Ukrainian soldiers, with clips in their weapons, have positioned a tank at the gate.
Ukraine's acting Prime Minister said Sunday that his country was "on the brink of disaster" and called for world leaders to take "real steps" to defuse the ongoing crisis in the Crimean Peninsula even as Russian troops appeared to be advancing toward the provincial capital.

This is a complete embarrassment to the United States. A world superpower, the last hope of liberty on the planet, and we stand by and let this happen because our president is an incompetent wuss. But...he's black, so it's okay.

Lay your sleeping head, my love,
Human on my faithless arm;
Time and fevers burn away
Individual beauty from
Thoughtful children, and the grave
Proves the child ephemeral:
But in my arms till break of day
Let the living creature lie,
Mortal, guilty, but to me
The entirely beautiful.

Soul and body have no bounds:
To lovers as they lie upon
Her tolerant enchanted slope
In their ordinary swoon,
Grave the vision Venus sends
Of supernatural sympathy,
Universal love and hope;
While an abstract insight wakes
Among the glaciers and the rocks
The hermit's carnal ecstasy.

Certainty, fidelity
On the stroke of midnight pass
Like vibrations of a bell,
And fashionable madmen raise
Their pedantic boring cry:
Every farthing of the cost,
All the dreaded cards foretell,
Shall be paid, but from this night
Not a whisper, not a thought,
Not a kiss nor look be lost.

Beauty, midnight, vision dies:
Let the winds of dawn that blow
Softly round your dreaming head
Such a day of welcome show
Eye and knocking heart may bless,
Find the mortal world enough;
Noons of dryness find you fed
By the involuntary powers,
Nights of insult let you pass
Watched by every human love.

***What happens when the cat catches the red dot...

***Have a great day!
