Crooked Labor Boss?

***Noooo...say it isn't so! Ex-SEIU local exec convicted of stealing from low income members. I'm shocked, SHOCKED!

A onetime rising star in national labor circles who headed California's biggest union local was convicted Monday on federal charges that he stole tens of thousands of dollars from his low-income members.
Tyrone Freeman, who represented about 190,000 homecare workers as a leader of the Service Employees International Union, was found guilty on 14 counts after a 10-day trial in Los Angeles.

He's black...I'm surprised no one has cried RACIST! yet.

***This makes me sick:

To the shock and disappointment of many of us, the Boy Scouts of America released a statement yesterday indicating the possibility of changing its policy that prevents the participation of openly practicing homosexuals.

According to press reports, the 100-year-old organization's board will meet next week at which time the matter will be debated and likely decided.

In an official statement, the Scouts stated:

This would mean there would no longer be any national policy regarding sexual orientation, and the chartered organizations that oversee and deliver Scouting would accept membership and select leaders consistent with each organization’s mission, principles, or religious beliefs. BSA members and parents would be able to choose a local unit that best meets the needs of their families...The policy change under discussion would allow the religious, civic, or educational organizations that oversee and deliver Scouting to determine how to address this issue.

In other words, the Boy Scouts of America, an organization that has historically required its members to take an oath to be "morally straight," appears to now be favoring moral neutrality.

Neutrality is often an attractive option, especially when the goal is to not offend. But in this case, I'm reminded of what the great humanitarian and political activist Elie Wiesel once wrote about trying to remain neutral when it comes to moral affairs:

We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere.

At stake in this debate is not just the golden brand of the Boy Scouts but most importantly the character and safety of the boys involved.

I realize that what I’m about to say might upset some people, but I hope we’re mature enough to discuss such important issues in straightforward and even stark terms.

My concern about the proposed change in the Boy Scouts has less to do with the idea of boys who identify as homosexuals and almost everything to do with the homosexual men who will be charged with leading and protecting the boys.

I have a good friend who was abused by a homosexual Boy Scout leader when he was twelve years old. The abuse triggered a horrific series of events that sent the boy reeling. His life was nearly ruined. I realize that most homosexual males are not pedophiles but can we not face facts and ask why we would deliberately put a youngster in a heightened position of risk?  Is it worth it? Of course not.

One of the great tragedies of the last few decades has been the abuse of young children by religious leaders. Of course these cases are the exception and most priests and pastors are trustworthy.  But one of the reasons the abuse occurred in the first place was because many of the involved clergy were homosexuals and the responsible governing bodies frequently have refused to acknowledge there’s any correlation to child molestation, especially concerning boys.

This subject has generated a significant amount of concern  and understandably so. My friend and Focus board member, Dr. Al Mohler, summed up the situation and the broader challenge to Christendom on his blog last evening:

Faithful Christians are left in the excruciatingly difficult position of maintaining fidelity to moral judgments revealed in the Bible while the culture around us races in the opposite direction. While the Boy Scouts use language like “morally straight,” the church uses its own language of sin, grace, and obedience...The new policy to be adopted by the Boy Scouts of America represents a revolution in what that esteemed organization understands “morally straight” to mean. We should not let that pass without taking notice of what that revolution will eventually bring about — nothing less than a reversal of what morality is understood to demand.

Let’s pray that the Boy Scouts of America will stand strong and resist the social and political pressures that are currently leaning into them with great force.

I hope you’ll consider asking the Boy Scouts of America to continue creating safe, secure environments for their youth members. Urge the group to maintain its current selection process for finding adult leaders. The people who will be voting on this issue need to hear affirmation of the historical foundations of scouting. They need to know people are with them.

***Editing the Newtown "hecklers." More media bias, more outrageous posturing - and the typical uninformed Democrat voter will swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

More here.

This week, state lawmakers in Hartford, Conn., held hearings about last month's school massacre in Newtown. It was a tense affair that included passionate advocates on both sides of the gun control debate. And one incident in particular caught the attention of national and international media outlets, in which Neil Heslin, the father of a 6-year-old boy killed in the shooting, was "heckled" by gun supporters as he pleaded for the government to ban assault weapons and high-capacity clips, according to a headline in the Connecticut Post.
The story went viral — with news outlets fixating, crucially, on the word "heckled" — and was essentially held up as evidence of the callousness and rabid fanaticism of certain gun enthusiasts. Piers Morgan of CNN, for example, described it as "sickening."

The problem is that Heslin wasn't really heckled.

Mickelson gets hammered by the ObamaMedia and finally sidles up to the microphone and apologizes.  He apologizes --- please sit down for this – to anyone he might have “upset or insulted.”

How upside down can things be in America?  Mickelson is being called “greedy.”  Really?  So now we define “greed” as wanting to keep more of the money you earn?  If that’s greed, what do you call the moochers who go to the poll to vote for the politician that’s going to take that money away from you and give it to them?  Oh wait! The Entrepreneurs Prayer

By Rick Beneteau - used with permission

As I awaken with the gift of yet another day and prepare for the tasks at hand, I offer up this most ardent prayer:
I pray for continued clarity of purpose so that I may hold my vision steady and keep my focus on the needs and success of others, which in turn shall bring me my success.
I pray for the wisdom to expect abundance in my life, that it surrounds me and is available for the taking and to be shameless and unapologetic upon its receipt, for I deserve abundance.
I pray for a cheerful countenance, be it clear or cloudy skies and that I may radiate and infect others with my positive attitude.
I pray for the trust of others that they may recognize my sincerity and true intentions so that we may move forward together.
I pray for the strength to fend off adversity and use my desire and determination as both weapon and shield.
I pray for the courage to carry forth my convictions during the battle of business and to resist temptation to a quicker monetary result when such temptation compromises these things for which I stand.
I pray that I may be used as a lightning rod to collect the amazing ideas already present in the universe and when blessed with such inspiration, that I may be able to apply my talents and abilities to turn the power of thought into measurable advancement of my goals.
I pray to retain my childhood wonder so that I can recognize and revel in the small miracles of each day that others may miss.
I pray for an infinite supply of self-confidence for it alone fortifies faith, strengthens my resolve and conquers the largest enemy I will ever face - fear.
I pray for a compassionate spirit and the patience to offer those who seek my advice and my help, my full and undivided attention.
I pray for good health and a feeling of well being, and the continued desire to improve those areas of my physical life I may be neglecting in the name of my spiritual and entrepreneurial advancement.
I pray that today is a day of excellence and at its conclusion I can acknowledge and be grateful for the forward motion I have made and the growth I have experienced.
I pray most of all for the understanding and support of those closest to my heart, my family, that they will equate what may seem like endless hours of apparent pre-occupation with affairs of business to what is at the very core of my being, that which drives me, for once I achieve what I have set out in its fullest, I will become that more complete being I strive to be.
It is for these things that I pray, for I am an entrepreneur.

Brock's Glock

***Liberals are the picture of hypocrisy.

A staffer at left-wing Media Matters for America committed numerous felonies in the District of Columbia and around the country by carrying a firearm to defend the organization’s founder, David Brock, The Daily Caller has learned.
According to a knowledgeable source, multiple firearms used to protect the Media Matters founder were purchased with Brock’s blessing — and apparently with the group’s money.

Laws are for the little people.

Bloomberg’s reply:  “Uh, you, we’ll get right back to you.”

“Why can you defend yourself but not the majority of Americans?” Mattera asks as the mayor walks away. “Look at the team of security you’ve got.  And you’re an advocate for gun control?”

***This president does a lot of unseemly things, but attacking Fox News is really bad. What happened to freedom of the press? Obviously, only if you're in the tank for Obama is your freedom legitimate. Thank you, clueless Obama voter.

Conservative media critics are pushing back on President Obama's suggestion that Capitol Hill Republicans would be more inclined to work across the aisle if they were "not punished" on Fox News and other outlets for doing so.
The president made the comments in an interview with The New Republic, when describing the difficulties in crafting bipartisan legislation.
"I think if you talk privately to Democrats and Republicans, particularly those who have been around for a while, they long for the days when they could socialize and introduce bipartisan legislation and feel productive," he said. "So I don't think the issue is whether or not there are people of goodwill in either party that want to get something done. I think what we really have to do is change some of the incentive structures so that people feel liberated to pursue some common ground.
Pretty disconcerting that our president is such a child that he can't stand to be disagreed with.

***Voter fraud and our nation's future.

Voter fraud is a common accusation in extremely close elections. The Obama-Romney race is no exception, with fewer than 400,000 total votes from four battleground states being the deciding factor.

Although fraud accusations are usually ignored as sour grapes, numerous polling and historical indicators suggested Romney could have easily won. While some irregularities proved false (e.g., military ballots arriving one day late), other “official” results defy both statistical probability and reason (e.g., more votes than eligible voters). Was the Presidential election stolen? We will probably never know, particularly since the current administration has no incentive to investigate potential wrong doing.

If our elections are not fair, our Republic is in trouble - well, even more trouble.

Wavering on Gun Control?

***Apparently there are some Democrats who aren't so sure about this whole gun control thing. Mostly Red State Democrats.

The popularity of guns like the AR-15 has exploded in the last decade, with millions of Americans using ARs for hunting, target shooting, competition, and home defense. The AR-15, a relatively uncommon rifle when I was growing up, has become mainstream among shooters. When Diane Feinstein talks about banning ARs she is threatening the rights of millions of people, not just a few social outcasts and hillbillies like myself.

The author thinks the Left has overplayed its hand. They thought they had a game changer with Sandy Hook and tried to stand on the graves of those children to push their agenda. Apparently many people are seeing right through that.

The bottom line is that the Left has overplayed its hand. Democrats in red states are the canary in the coal mine for gun control legislation. If they are already starting to fold before the main battle is even joined this is obviously a great sign for us. The next question then is whether Feinstein, Pelosi, Schumer and other true believers will get the message. After all, we are talking about people who spend most of their time floating about in the liberal bubble world of the DC beltway and the rest of their time talking with constituents who believe “The Day After Tomorrow” was a documentary and that Paul Krugman is the cobra emperor of intellectuals (i.e. grown in a lab from the DNA of famous, but long dead liberal thinkers).

***A meditation by C.H. Spurgeon. What a comfort.

"Your heavenly Father."—Matthew 6:26.
OD'S people are doubly His children, they are His offspring by creation, and they are His sons by adoption in Christ. Hence they are privileged to call Him, "Our Father which art in heaven." Father! Oh, what precious word is that. Here is authority: "If I be a Father, where is mine honour?" If ye be sons, where is your obedience? Here is affection mingled with authority; an authority which does not provoke rebellion; an obedience demanded which is most cheerfully rendered—which would not be withheld even if it might. The obedience which God's children yield to Him must be loving obedience. Do not go about the service of God as slaves to their taskmaster's toil, but run in the way of His commands because it is your Father's way. Yield your bodies as instruments of righteousness, because righteousness is your Father's will, and His will should be the will of His child. Father!—Here is a kingly attribute so sweetly veiled in love, that the King's crown is forgotten in the King's face, and His sceptre becomes, not a rod of iron, but a silver sceptre of mercy—the sceptre indeed seems to be forgotten in the tender hand of Him who wields it. Father!—Here is honour and love. How great is a Father's love to his children! That which friendship cannot do, and mere benevolence will not attempt, a father's heart and hand must do for his sons. They are his offspring, he must bless them; they are his children, he must show himself strong in their defence. If an earthly father watches over his children with unceasing love and care, how much more does our heavenly Father? Abba, Father! He who can say this, hath uttered better music than cherubim or seraphim can reach. There is heaven in the depth of that word—Father! There is all I can ask; all my necessities can demand; all my wishes can desire. I have all in all to all eternity when I can say, "Father."

What Difference, Indeed

***

I've been thinking more and more about Mrs. Clinton's callous "What difference does it make?" statement. In that one sentence I think she encapsulated her complete indifference to the families of those dead Americans, and where here priorities are. She is covering up a tragedy which occurred directly due to the ineptitude and cowardice of the people in the highest levels of our government. That this could happen in the first place is bad enough. The lying and stonewalling afterward, though, is worse. The obvious media bias and complicity in this coverup is jaw dropping. I know you've heard me say it 100 times, but imagine if this were a Republican administration. Just imagine the wall to wall coverage, the horror from the talking heads about the death of "our boys." How the president should be questioned, badgered, impeached, destroyed. They are allowing Obama and his cronies get away with gross negligence at best, murder at worst. If this doesn't make you sick to your stomach, I don't know what will.

She's lying, pure and simple. And she's very, very good at it.

Benghazi Rhapsody

***Great post by the editors over at National Review Online. I doubt that anyone on our side expected any real answers to the questions posed to Mrs. Clinton. She dodged and weaved and gave non-answers, just as most of us expected her to. The sycophantism (is that a word?) of the Democrats on the panel was just nauseating. Oh, Mrs. Clinton, you're a HERO! If that's not enough to make you lose your breakfast, I don't know what is. She and her boss presided over the deaths of four Americans, and are now covering it up. It's really as simple as that. This is worse than Watergate - but do you really see any hard questions coming from the press? Of course not. They are going to protect this failed administration to the end.

Indifference was just one of the poses Secretary Clinton struck with respect to the causes and consequences of Benghazi. Joining it, at turns, were strained revisionism and professed ignorance. Clinton repeatedly emphasized before both House and Senate panels that she had, on September 12, called what happened in Benghazi “an attack by heavily armed militants,” and that the president had that same day referred to “acts of terror” in the same breath as Benghazi. To hedge against the plain truth that various members of the administration nevertheless continued to imply a spontaneous nexus between the video and the murders for weeks after the attack, Clinton emphasized that she “wasn’t involved in the talking-points process” that armed Susan Rice and others with their bogus dodges.

Deflection was also Mrs. Clinton’s preferred tack in explaining why American diplomats were not supplied with adequate security before the attack, or efficacious relief in the hours immediately after it, despite a series of requests and warnings about escalating violence targeted at Western interests in the city. Clinton, with an assist from the panels’ uniformly obsequious Democrats, averred that she couldn’t possibly read all of the million-plus cables that come over the State Department’s transom, and that in any event congressional cuts to diplomatic security were really to blame.

Read the rest, if you can stand it.

The United Nations is worthless. We should get out, and pull our money out. They would fold in a week.

***                           It's a llamapillar!

***Women in combat? I absolutely disagree.

Women in all branches of the military soon will have unprecedented opportunities to serve on the front lines of the nation's wars.
Leon Panetta, in one of his last acts as President Obama's defense secretary, is preparing to announce the policy change Thursday, which would open hundreds of thousands of front-line positions and potentially elite commando jobs after more than a decade at war, the Pentagon confirmed.
The groundbreaking move recommended by the Joint Chiefs of Staff overturns a 1994 rule banning women from being assigned to smaller ground combat units. Panetta's decision gives the military services until January 2016 to seek special exceptions if they believe any positions must remain closed to women.
"This policy change will initiate a process whereby the services will develop plans to implement this decision, which was made by the secretary of defense upon the recommendation of the Joint Chiefs of Staff," a senior defense official told reporters on condition of anonymity.

***Sen. Johnson: Administration caught in a lie on Benghazi. So what? Nothing will happen. Please forgive my cynicism. I've just watched this president and his cronies in Washington trample the Constitution time and time again with absolutely no fallout. Why should they pay any attention to it? The media certainly won't hold them accountable.

Do Not Refuse Helping
Everyone who leads a wholesome life, a life that is dedicated to the law of Christ will find hundreds of situations that call for their assistance. It is not a matter of picking and choosing either. To be alive within the word of God means that there is no one that you refuse or one that is not worthy of your attention, help or blessings.

No matter, though, how much you really believe, there is no perfect life just as there is no perfect servant. This means that you must acknowledge your shortcomings and set your goal to be better, to be more accepting of others concerns over and above your own tribulations. To give is more rewarding in the long run for he who gives also receives the bounty of being able to lend a comforting hand.

Bear not the burden alone for you will be forever comforted within the word of God and by those who are with you as you walk the path towards enlightenment.

The House of Representatives is expected to vote Wednesday on a GOP bill that would let the Treasury add to the nation’s $16.4 trillion debt until May — and President Barack Obama won’t oppose the bill, a spokesman said on Tuesday.

The Republican measure would leave the borrowing limit in place through May 18, allowing the government to borrow money to pay its credit obligations until then, The Washington Post reports.

The measure staves off yet another blistering battle between the GOP and the White House — this time, over the debt ceiling — but it requires the Democratic Senate to pass a budget or members’ paychecks will be held in escrow.

Larry the Cable Guy - Smart Man!

***From Larry the Cable Guy - who knew he was smarter than the entire current administration??

Everyone concentrates on the problems we're having in Our Country lately: Illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida ... Not me -- I concentrate on solutions for the problems -- it's a win-win situation. Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border. Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levees. Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.
Any other problems you would like for me to solve today?
Think about this:
1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments
COWS:
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.
THE CONSTITUTION:
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq . Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS:
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: you cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians, it creates a hostile work environment.
Also, think about this..... if you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone -- YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!
GET 'ER DONE

"Under God" Missing?

***What, you're surprised?

For the very first time in presidential inaugural history, the invocation was delivered by a non-clergy member and it showed.
The oft-heard words from the Pledge of Allegiance were included in the invocation as follows: “We now strand beneath the shadow of the nation’s capitol, who’s golden dome reflects the unity and democracy of one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Noticeably missing was the phrase, “under God.”
Welcome to Amerika, comrades.

Don't look for any commentary on this on the news. Did you hear Chris Matthews' comment? He said Obama's inaugural address was akin to Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.  I'm speechless. Oh, and the CNN reporter who had to "pinch himself" because he was so close to Obama? And you wonder why the news is so slanted? God help us.

What was missing from the inaugural address amid the pap about "getting along," etc? The economy and jobs. Oh well, that stuff's not important.

Ahmed's attorney, Kassem Dakhlallah, told The Associated Press on Monday that he's "thrilled" with the preliminary deal that's expected to be finalized March 1. McDonald's and Finley's Management deny any liability but say the settlement is in their best interests.

Wow.

***           REMEMBER

January 22, 1973 - January 22, 2013

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

(Psalm 139:13-16)

Content of His Character

Actually, I think that meter is giving him a little too much credit...

Gloom, Despair, and Agony on Me!

***Anybody remember that from Hee Haw? Yeah, I'm showing my age here...This is how I'm feeling today as all the partying will be going on in celebration of a man committed to cutting America down to size. Bleh.

***This guy, calling himself a pastor, calls Republicans "the enemy" and starts chanting, "Forward!" Gawd.

At Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, Braxton reportedly crafted his speech around Obama’s personal political slogan: “Forward!”
Obama, said Braxton, was just like Moses facing the Red Sea: “forward is the only option … The people couldn’t turn around. The only thing that they could do was to go forward.” Obama, said Braxton, would have to overcome all obstacles – like opposition from Republicans, presumably, or the bounds of the Constitution. Braxton continued, “Mr. President, stand on the rock,” citing to Moses standing on Mount Horeb as his people camped outside the land of Israel.
But it wasn’t enough to compare Obama with the founder of Judaism and the prophet of the Bible. Braxton added that Obama’s opponents were like the Biblical enemies of Moses, and that Obama would have to enter the battle because “sometimes enemies insist on doing it the hard way.”
The service ended with the pastor leading the crowd in a chant of “Forward.” Really.

And for some reason...the ObamaMedia didn't find this newsworthy. What a surprise.

***Harbaugh Brothers will face off in Super Bowl.

One Harbaugh will win Super Bowl XLVII. Another will lose it. That much is guaranteed, after the San Francisco 49ers coached by Jim Harbaugh and — a few hours later — the Baltimore Ravens led by his brother John Harbaugh beat their respective foes in conference championship games Sunday. Those wins mean the Harbaughs will be the first siblings to face-off on the sidelines of the NFL’s title contest and, in fact, for any major U.S. professional sports championship.

Well, as long as it's not the Patriots...

A Dark Day

***Well, Barack Obama was sworn in today. Like him swearing anything means anything...but I digress. As Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit said, shouldn't today's "bare bones" ceremony have been the only ceremony in light of the country's fiscal condition? This president and his wife are much, much too narcissistic not to spend lavish amounts of money being adored by their drooling fans - to heck with their American subjects who will be expected to pay for it.

***Benghazi: Worse than injustice, it's humiliation.

On September 21, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke to reporters before a meeting with the Pakistani foreign minister. She addressed the September 11 assault on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya. “What happened was a terrorist attack, and we will not rest until we have tracked down and brought to justice the terrorists who murdered four Americans.”
ebassy burns in benghazi

Clinton’s statement was notable. It was the strongest and most direct assessment of the attacks from any Obama administration official in the first 10 days after the deaths. By calling the incident a “terrorist attack,” Clinton acknowledged what President Obama had gone out of his way to avoid.
The second part of Clinton’s comment generated little interest. Her vow to bring to justice the perpetrators of the attacks was the kind of perfunctory promise we expect to hear from any politician after any attack, particularly one so brazen. Of course it would be a top priority of the Obama administration and its lead diplomat to understand the attacks and punish those who committed them.
Yet four months later, Clinton’s promise is notable precisely because it has gone unfulfilled. No one has been “brought to justice”—a fact that seems unlikely to change anytime soon. “We’re not even close,” says one U.S. official involved in the investigation.

Seriously? You expected them to actually DO something? Please.

***What an idiot we have as Vice President:

Joe Biden the gaffe machine was at it again Saturday.
Speaking at the Iowa State Society inauguration ball, the Vice President said, "I'm proud to be President of the United States"

Oh, just IMAGINE if Dick Cheney or Dan Quayle had said that.

***  "I would say to the House, as I said to those who have joined this Government, I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many long months of toil and struggle.

"You ask what is our policy. I will say, it is to wage war with all our might, with all the strength that God can give us, to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime.

"You ask what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terror. Victory however long and hard the road may be. For without victory there is no survival."

— Winston Churchill - First speech as Prime Minister, House of Commons, 13 May 1940. Churchillfirst used the phrase “blood and sweat” in 1900; “Blood, sweat and tears” came together in his 1939 article, “Can FrancoRestore Unity and Strength to Spain.”
