***A Daily Word with Dr. Ed Young

A righteous man who walks in his integrity —   How blessed are his sons after him.
Proverbs 20:7
Integrity leaves a stream of blessing in its wake. The greatest gift you can give your child is a godly life. “I’m not inclined to be religious,” someone says. “I’m not very pious,” a man echoes. “I’m not oriented to the Bible,” a woman declares. All this is like saying, “I don’t use electricity because I’m not scientifically bent.” Godly living is not about religion, but life. “Righteousness” is a lifestyle conforming to God’s holy character. “Integrity”—a consistent and unimpeachable life—flows from it. All who swim in the wake are enriched.

Bipolar Politics

***A commenter at the Twitchy blog came up with that phrase to describe Obama's campaigning all week about how awful student loan rates are, then threatening to veto legislation passed by Republicans that would prevent the student loan rate from doubling. Bipolar, indeed.

***What is the "cloud," anyway?

What does it even mean when people talk about storing things in the cloud? It sounds so…nebulous. Pun intended. But don't worry, I'm going to break it down for you.
When people talk about "cloud storage," they are talking about putting documents, pictures, and videos online so that they can be stored and accessed whenever you have an online connection. You need this.

Great article. It gives the advantages of the three most popular services; DropBox, Google Drive, and Microsoft SkyDrive. I use DropBox for my business, and it's really easy to use.

***Obama "spikes the football" regarding bin Laden. I think it's shameful that despite the fact that it never would have happened without George W. Bush's policies in the first place, he never gives him any credit. It's always about the Boy Wonder.

What Am I

I am seldom considered, though I do more to influence everything about you than virtually any one thing in your life.  I often control the time you get up in the morning, the time you go to sleep, what you eat and drink and the very thought that runs through your head.  I can make you either happy or sad, loving or hateful, cheerful or remorseful, congenial or spiteful and in doing so, control the very capacity that you have for success.

No, you don’t often think of me instead you BLAME the problem I create on the shortcoming of others, or the state of the economy, or your family or a million other reasons.  Often at times unable to find anyone else to BLAME you look for shortcomings within yourself on which to lay the BLAME.

When my impact on your life fully is considered in your every thought and action, when you are mindful of my awesome power, when you nurture and groom me for positive use in your life, I can become more contagious than the most prolific disease ever witnessed by man.  My influence will spread to every person you come in contact with.

Groomed and nurtured in a positive manner there will be no person or obstacle that can stand in the way of my success or fail to be impacted for the better.

***I'm up early on a Sunday because I have to get a lot done before church. Having company for dinner this afternoon. Gonna be simple, though, spaghetti and salad. :-)

Several years ago a preacher moved to Houston, Texas. Some weeks after he arrived, he had occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally given him a quarter too much change. As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, "You better give the quarter back. It would be wrong to keep it." Then he thought, "Oh, forget it, it's only a quarter. Who would worry about this little amount? Anyway the bus company already gets too much fare; they will never miss it. Accept it as a gift from the Lord and keep quiet."

When his stop came, he paused momentarily at the door, then he handed the quarter to the driver and said, "Here, you gave me too much change".

The driver with a smile, replied, "Aren't you the new preacher in town? I have been thinking lately about going to worship somewhere. I just wanted to see what you would do if I gave you too much change."

When my friend stepped off the bus, he literally grabbed the nearest light pole, and held on, and said, "Oh, Lord, I almost sold your Son for a quarter."

What a Jerk!

***No, this time I'm not talking about Obama, but it IS one of his buddies. Anti-bullying speaker goes on profanity laced anti-Christian rant. I repeat. What a jerk.

“It became hostile,” he said. “It felt hostile as we were sitting in the audience – especially towards Christians who espouse beliefs that he was literally taking on.”
Tuttle said the speech was laced with vulgarities and “sexual innuendo not appropriate for this age group.” At one point, he said Savage told the teenagers about how good his partner looked in a speedo.
The conservative website CitizenLink was the first to report about the controversy. They interviewed a 17-year-old girl who was one of students who walked out of the auditorium.
“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control,’” she told CitizenLink. “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the (expletive deleted) in the Bible.”
As the teenagers were walking out, Tuttle said that Savage heckled them and called them “pansy asses.”

This guy was supposed to be talking about bullying - then he bullied the Christian members of the audience. Read the whole thing, it really is sickening. Have I mentioned that this guy's a jerk?

House GOP leaders said Friday they are pursuing a plan to hold Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. and the Justice Department in contempt for “stonewalling” them over information regarding the administration’s failed Fast and Furious gun-tracking program.
GOP Rep. Darrell Issa confirmed to Fox News that House Speaker John Boehner gave him and others on his House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform the authority to drafted a contempt of Congress resolution.
“We have a few other options (but) to a great extent we’ve been stonewalled by the Justice Department,” said Issa, R-Calif.

I don’t think the Edwin Edward’s scenario of being found in bed with “a live boy or a dead girl” is going to come into play here.  After last night’s sweep we know with certainty that the GOP presidential nomination is going to go to Mitt Romney.  Flaws?  Absolutely.  Am I completely satisfied with is stance on a number of libertarian and conservative issues?  Are you?  Certainly not.  But he is going to be the nominee.  If you’re not prepared to deal with that and move forward to defeat Obama then you’re simply not in touch with reality.

***From Inspire 21:

The Pastor's Cat

Dwight Nelson recently told a true story about the pastor of his church. He had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc.
The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and pulled it until the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.
That's what he did, all  the while checking his progress in the car. He then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved the car a little further forward, the rope broke.
The tree went 'boing!' and the kitten instantly sailed through the air - out of sight.
The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten.
So he prayed, 'Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping,' and went on about his business.
A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food.
This woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, 'Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?' She replied, 'You won't believe this,' and then told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing.
Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, 'Well, if God gives you a cat, I'll let you keep it.'
She told the pastor, 'I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in front of her.'
Lesson learned... Never underestimate the Power of God and His unique sense of humor.

Vacation Backlash

***As word gets out about the Obama's lavish vacations, even their base is getting a little miffed.

Blue collar Democratic voters, stuck taking depressing “staycations” because they can’t afford gas and hotels, are resentful of the first family’s 17 lavish vacations around the world and don’t want their tax dollars paying for the Obamas’ holidays, according to a new analysis of swing voters.

Michelle Obama's Spain vacation cost taxpayers nearly $470,000. Yep, they're just like us.

***Colts select Andrew Luck as top draft pick.

***Great piece on the gross injustice being done to George Zimmerman.

It was so simple: A white vigilante with a gun murdered a teenager in cold blood because he was black. The racist white murderer claimed he only used the gun because the teenager was slamming his head into the sidewalk, but he didn’t have any injuries. He called the teenager a racist name in his 911 call. He said he was following him because “he looks black.” And when the police dispatcher told him to back off, he ignored the warning.
Cut and dried. Case closed.
Then the white guy became a “white Hispanic.”
Then police reports about the injuries to the back of his head turned out to be true.
Then it turned out he never used a racial epithet in his 911 call.
And when he told the dispatcher, “He looks black,” it was in response to a direct question, not an indication of motive.
And when the dispatcher told him not to follow the kid, he said, “Okay.”

The more the facts come out, the more obvious it is that Zimmerman is a pawn in the race baiters' game. Here are a few things you never knew - and still wouldn't if you didn't read beyond the MSM's biased reports.

The 28-year-old insurance-fraud investigator comes from a deeply Catholic background and was taught in his early years to do right by those less fortunate. He was raised in a racially integrated household and himself has black roots through an Afro-Peruvian great-grandfather – the father of the maternal grandmother who helped raise him…

He was raised in a racially integrated household? But...I thought he was a racist bent on killing a black kid no matter what? This gets more sickening by the day.

Sarah Palin took to Facebook Thursday to warn followers that the Obama administration’s attempt to control what chores children can do on a farm is not where the government’s intrusion will end.

“If you think the government’s new regs will stop at family farms, think again,” the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate wrote, according to Politico.

“The Obama Administration is working on regulations that would prevent children from working on our family farms. This is more overreach of the federal government with many negative consequences,” she said Wednesday in a post titled, “If I Wanted America to Fail, I’d Ban Kids From Farm Work.”

The proposed Department of Labor regulations would prevent anyone younger than 16 from participating in the cultivation, harvesting, and curing of tobacco, and from operating most power-driven machinery.

There once was a man and a woman who had been married for more than 60 years. They talked about everything. They kept no secrets from each other... except that the old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she cautioned her husband never to open it or ask her about it.
For all these years he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would never recover.
In trying to sort out their affairs the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed it was time that he should know what was in the box.
When he opened it he found 2 beautifully crocheted doilies and a stack of money totaling over $25,000. He asked her about the unusual contents.
"When we were married," she said, " my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doily."
The little old man was so moved, he had to fight back tears. Only two precious doilies were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with joy and happiness.
"Sweetheart," he said... "that explains the doilies, but what about all this money? Where did it all come from?"
Oh," she said, " that's the money I made from selling the doilies."

A Bad Day in Court

***The Obama Administration is not doing so well in its attempt to circumvent the Constitution and not enforce immigration law in Arizona. Note this incoherent response from the Solicitor General arguing before the Court:

JUSTICE KENNEDY: So you’re saying the government has a legitimate interest in not enforcing its laws?

GENERAL VERRILLI: No. We have a legitimate interest in enforcing the law, of course, but it needs to be — but these — this Court has said over and over again, has recognized that the — the balance of interest that has to be achieved in enforcing the — the immigration laws is exceedingly delicate and complex, and it involves consideration of foreign relations, it involves humanitarian concerns, and it also involves public order and public –

***Woman starved to death on "light" diet. This is sad, but really, how dumb can you get?

A Swiss woman starved to death after believing she could survive on light alone.
The woman embarked on the diet after watching the controversial 2010 documentary film "In the beginning there was light," newspaper Tages Anzeiger reported Wednesday.
The movie centers on Swiss chemistry doctor Michael Werner, 62, and 83-year-old Indian yogi Prahlad Jani, who both claimed to derive sustenance from spiritual means rather than the intake of food -- a concept also known as breatharianism.

Love this one! It's based on one of my favorite works of art:

“Is it easier to make ends meet? Is it easier to sell your home or buy a new one?” he said, as the crowd cheered “NO!”
“Have you saved what you needed for retirement? Are you making more AT your job? Do you have a better chance to get a better job? Are you paying less at the pump?”

Slush Fund

***That's all the stimulus was. Rush has been saying that for nearly 4 years now, and here's the proof:  Richer Democratic States with Lower Unemployment Got Bulk of Obama Stimulus.

In their explosive new book Debacle: Obama's War on Jobs and Growth and What We Can Do Now to Regain Our Future, Grover Norquist and John Lott, Jr. uncover a startling fact: heavily Democratic states with lower poverty rates, lower unemployment rates, lower bankruptcy rates, and lower foreclosure rates received most of President Barack Obama's $825 billion Stimulus.

Put another way, Stimulus money went to precisely the states that needed it the least but were more politically connected to the Democratic Party.

This was never about stimulating the economy. It was about keeping Democrats in power and lining their pockets. Yet they're the ones screaming that Republicans only favor the rich. *** Twitter lynch mob calls for Zimmerman's death. Imagine the outcry if he were black.

Twitter message boards were full of calls to kill Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman on Monday, just hours after he was released on $150,000 bail.

At least one tweet — on a website that specifically tells users, “You may not publish or post direct, specific threats of violence against others" — also called for Judge Kenneth Lester, who freed Zimmerman, to be murdered.

Typical of the 140-character-or-less messages on Twitter was one from a woman calling herself “Chatia” from Boston. “Someone pass me a gun, imma go follow zimmerman, shoot, and kill him and say #imstandingmyground,” she wrote.

Chatia’s profile picture is of a young, black woman.

WillFolarinMawana, whose picture shows a dreadlocked young man in sunglasses, wrote, “George Zimmerman Released From Jail 150,000 Bail! WTF!” The poster then added a racial epithet before adding, “You Are About To Die, Start Writing Your Will! Justices Has Not Been Served.”

Lovely. I've said it before and I'll say it again - where are the cries for civility and calm from the Left? This kind of hatred can be laid squarely at the feet of the abominable, biased coverage from our news media and the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. But..they'll never take responsibility for it, of course. It's up to the rest of us to continue to point it out.

When she gets up she’ll find that a lot of energy has flowed back into her.

Pausers are not time-wasters; they are time-users.

To be sure, pausing can be overdone. Lying in bed that extra five minutes is delightful; an extra hour might be not only dull but disastrous. Sooner or later most of us have to get up, go to the office, or get the children off to school, attend to the endless mechanics of living.

But we will do these things better if we have the emotional balance and the controlled energy that comes from deliberate slowing of the pace.

I really need to learn how to do this...

Obama Needs Vote Fraud

***Check this out.

Democrats have gotten too clever for themselves in battling voter ID. Requiring people to show the same ID to vote that they must show to buy cigarettes or beer somehow disenfranchises them according to those great super-duper thinkers on the Left. It’s comical. And the British business wire service, Reuters, bought into the liberal line so much that it inadvertently makes Barack Obama seem like one big crook.
From Reuters: “The new laws – many of which include measures requiring voters to show a photo ID at the polls — could carve into Obama’s potential support in Florida, Ohio and a few other politically divided states likely to be crucial in the November 6 election, analysts say. The analysts note that massive registration drives in 2008 helped put millions of people aged 18 to 29 on voting rolls, and that age group — which makes up roughly one-quarter of the U.S. electorate — helped propel Obama to victory, voting 2-to-1 for him. Rock the Vote, a nationwide organization that mobilizes young voters, said the new laws would make it more difficult for the group to educate people on how to sign up to vote.”
Might I suggest that if you are too ignorant to figure out how to sign up to vote, you really are not intelligent enough to vote? Getting a driver’s license is much more difficult.

I completely agree with the last paragraph. If you don't care enough or aren't smart enough to obtain photo ID and get yourself to the polls, it's a good bet you aren't informed enough to cast an intelligent vote. Stay home.

***News organizations gone crazy! Objective journalism is just about dead in this country.

I wrote here about MSNBC’s campaign to tie the Koch brothers to George Zimmerman’s shooting of Trayvon Martin. That effort was, it is fair to say, insane, but it apparently inspired one or more liberals to take MSNBC’s theories a step farther. Someone wrote–I think it was on Facebook–that Koch Industries had paid for Zimmerman’s legal defense and/or put up his bail money. Other liberals happily repeated the claim, to the point where Snopes deemed it a rumor worth addressing.
The claim is not only false, but entirely baseless and, in fact, stupid. There is no connection whatsoever between Koch Industries or the Koch brothers and George Zimmerman. None. Further, while the Koch brothers have championed a number of libertarian causes, gun rights have not been among them. In the one instance where Koch Industries is known to have lobbied on a firearms issue, it was against a proposed liberalization of firearms laws in Florida. And the brothers have no history of participating in the defense of criminal defendants. Further, while this is not my area of expertise, I doubt whether it would even be legal for Koch Industries to pay for an unrelated person’s criminal defense. So the assertion that Koch Industries is paying for Zimmerman’s defense or contributing to his bail lacks the remotest shred of plausibility.

They're just making stuff up now.

Unlike the government of the United States, I can’t claim any hands-on experience with Colombian hookers. But I was impressed by the rates charged by Miss Dania Suarez, and even more impressed by the U.S. Secret Service’s response to them.
Cartagena’s most famous “escort” costs $800. For purposes of comparison, you can book Eliot Spitzer’s “escort” for $300. Yet, on the cold grey fiscally conservative morning after the wild socially liberal night before, Dania’s Secret Service agent offered her a mere $28.

Read the whole thing.

***Mom & I had a great time yard saling yesterday! I got two sets of dishes (Johnny says I need an intervention). It was at an estate sale and they were almost giving stuff away. I got two full sets, with plates, saucers, bowls, and cups for $1 apiece. They're really pretty, too! I was excited! I love dishes, especially old ones. At another sale I got some pretty placemats. Mom found an antique coffee table, a really nice one. All in all, a great morning!

***Think the media and the Obama Administration will ever take responsibility for fomenting this kind of hatred? Black suspect says he beat up a white man because he was mad about the Trayvon Martin case.

Alton L. Hayes III, a west suburban man charged with a hate crime, told police he was so upset about the Trayvon Martin case in Florida that he beat up a white man early Tuesday.
Hayes and a 15-year-old Chicago boy walked up behind the 19-year-old man victim and pinned his arms to his side, police said. Hayes, 18, then picked up a large tree branch, pointed it at the man and said, “Empty your pockets, white boy.”
The two allegedly rifled through the victim’s pockets, then threw him to the ground and punched him “numerous times” in the head and back before running away, police said. Hayes and the boy are black; the victim is white.

The last sentence is why you won't be hearing much about this. But just imagine if the opposite were true. Where is the outrage from the Left? Where are all the howls for "civility in political discourse?" Despicable hypocrites.

***Don't let 'em tell you the Tea Party is losing it's influence. Orrin Hatch has been forced into a primary in Utah. This is huge.

***How a 9-year-old entrepreneur's business went viral. This is a great story!

At, we regularly bring you stories about innovative startups and their wide-eyed founders. But even we were in awe of 9-year-old Caine Monroy, who last summer constructed a makeshift arcade out of cardboard in his father's auto-parts store in Los Angeles.
He started off catering to the shop's visitors. Now, though, his business has become the main attraction, with excited children and television crews filing through daily, all clamoring for a turn. A $1 ticket gets you four spins at one of five arcade games and a $2 ticket gets you 500 spins. The industrious lad also sells $15 T-shirts -- like the one he wears -- that display "Caine's Arcade" on the back.

There was a blind girl who hated herself just because she was blind. She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She said that if she could only see the world, she would marry her boyfriend.
One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her and then she could see everything, including her boyfriend. Her boyfriend asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?”
The girl was shocked when she saw that her boyfriend was blind too, and refused to marry him. Her boyfriend walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to her saying:

“Just take care of my eyes dear.”

***Chuck Colson, RIP. He did a lot of good.

***Defense worried about Zimmerman's safety. Gosh, I wonder why.  Couldn't have anything to do with the thuggish New Black Panthers putting a bounty on his head, could it? Which, by the way, I've heard no Democrat, including our weenie of a President, denounce.

***Starbucks to stop using "crushed bug" dye. Ew.

Starbucks Corp. says it will stop using a red dye in its drinks that is derived from crushed bugs.
The Seattle-based coffee chain said in a blog post on its website Thursday that it made the decision to reformulate its drinks after feedback from consumers prompted a "thorough" evaluation.
The company says it will swap out cochineal extract, which is made from the juice of a tiny beetle, and instead use lycopene, a tomato-based extract.

Long-unrecognized lettering confirms that first-century artifacts found within an ancient Jerusalem tomb are the earliest representations of Christianity ever found, researchers say.
Two Hebrew scholars who examined photographs showing the inside of the tomb agree that markings on an ossuary — a box made to hold human remains — are stylized letters that spell out the name of Jonah, the researchers said Thursday (April 19). Jonah was the Old Testament prophet whose story of being swallowed by a great fish was embraced by the early followers of Jesus.

Who's the Racist?

***It's always, ALWAYS, the Left who brings race into political conversation. This is just plain ignorant:

When I first saw the banner this afternoon, the multiple meanings were clear: President Obama‘s policies aren’t working, the Obama presidency isn’t working, President Obama…isn’t working, as in, doing any work. That’s not a nice thing to say about any president, but like it or not, it becomes a more loaded accusation when leveled at our first black president.
Just to be sure it wasn’t just me, though, I asked several friends about the banner, and four out of four pointed out, unprompted, the stereotype of the “lazy,” “shiftless” black man. One of the people I called was cable news fixture Goldie Taylor, who, upon hearing my description of the banner, said “Are you kidding me? You have got to be kidding me.”

So the writer's first, knee-jerk response to the phrase "not working" is connecting it to a black man, and MITT is the racist?

***Not a bad idea, I have quite a movie collection on VHS and DVD. Digitize your home movies before they're gone forever. Sounds like it could get a little expensive, though.

***Today's yard sale and Amish store day! I didn't sleep well last night, but once I finally did get to sleep I didn't wake up until 7:00. Not much time to play before I pick Mom up. There are several interesting sales in the paper, hope we find some treasures!

***Democrats are jumping ship. Well, THAT'S certainly the smart thing to do.

Perhaps Democrats know something the rest of us don't about Barack Obama's political fortunes. What else explains the increasing numbers who are openly defying the president on two key election issues?
The notoriously thin-skinned Obama could not have been happy with the news last week that, as the Hill newspaper put it, "an increasing number of Democrats are taking potshots at President Obama's health care law."

***More reverse racism: This defendant is black, therefore he escapes the death penalty. There is absolutely nothing right about this.

***Democrats want to limit free speech - again

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, with the support of other congressional Democrats, wants to rewrite the First Amendment and limit free speech when it comes to certain political speech, reports CNS News.

On Thursday, Pelosi “endorsed a movement announced by other congressional Democrats on Wednesday to ratify an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would allow Congress to regulate political speech when it is engaged in by corporation as opposed to individuals,” CNS News reports.

The amendment that Pelosi and other congressional Democrats endorsed would reverse the Supreme Court’s 2010 decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that ruled the First Amendment protects a corporation’s rights to free speech — including its right to speak about politicians and their records — in the same way that individuals do.

***Now here's an interesting idea: Condoleezza Rice as VP. Sounds like a winner to me.

Dear Lord,

So far today, I am doing alright

I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or self indulgent.

I have not whined, complained or cursed,or eaten any chocolate.

I have charged nothing on my credit card.

But I will be getting out of my bed in a minute and I think that I'll really need your help then.

***Democrats blasts Romney for polygamist roots - forgetting about Obama's polygamist DAD. What a dolt.

In this Obama Family photo are: (bottom row, from left) half-sister Auma, her mother Kezia Obama, Obama’s step-grandmother Sarah Hussein Onyango Obama and unknown; (top row, from left) unknown, Barack Obama, half-brother Abongo (Roy) Obama, and three unknowns.

When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by
the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example
of 'empire building' by George Bush. Powell answered by saying, "Over
The years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and
Women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders.
The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough
to bury those that did not return." You could have heard a pin drop.
