Romney Goes Two for Two

***Starting to look more and more like our nominee is going to be Mitt Romney. It's not over yet, but last night was really big for him. Michigan was pretty close, 4 points, but he coasted in Arizona. Well, I'll take whoever we end up with over Obama. Anyone.

***Ancient evidence of Jonah? This is fascinating.

The researchers behind a 2007 documentary detailing “The Lost Tomb of Jesus” have uncovered evidence in a first-century Israeli tomb of the Biblical figure of Jonah, who was famously swallowed whole by a whale in the Book of Jonah.
The prime evidence: an ossuary, a box or chest built to contain human remains. It was examined by a robotic arm and a "snake camera" in the modestly sized, carefully carved rock tomb typical of Jerusalem in the period from 20 BCE until 70 CE.
It has a four-line Greek inscription that refers to God “raising up” someone. A carved image found on an adjacent ossuary shows what appears to be a large fish with a human stick figure in its mouth -- interpreted by the excavation team to be an image evoking the biblical story of Jonah.

Last week Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said that the "most fortunate Americans" should pay more in taxes for the "privilege of being an American." One can debate different ways of balancing the budget. But Mr. Geithner's argument highlights an unfortunate and very destructive instinct that seems to permeate the Obama administration about the respective roles of citizens and their government. His position has three problems: one philosophical, one empirical, and one logical.

This is an age-old view that our Founding Fathers rejected. First, they argued that the basic rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (i.e., economic liberty) were natural rights, endowed by our Creator, not by government. Second, the governing powers do not out-rank the citizens. Rather it is the citizens who grant government officials their "just powers." As Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence, governments are instituted among men based on their consent in order to secure the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The notion that a governing authority grants privileges to those it governs directly contradicts Jefferson's declaration.

Read the whole thing, it's a good one.

***Hey, here's another big shock: Global Warming Alarmists Resort to Hoax. The whole thing is a hoax, people.

We are remiss in not having written about the Peter Gleick scandal. Gleick is a founder of the liberal Pacific Institute and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He is an expert on water resources, not climate. Like many left-wingers in irrelevant fields of study, he has irrationally strong feelings about global warming. So, as Gleick has now admitted, he obtained documents from the Heartland Institute under false pretenses–that is, by lying–and published them in hopes of discrediting the Institute.

***From Neal Boortz:

On the one hand, it is racist for Newt Gingrich to call Barack Obama a food stamp president.  On the other hand, Jesse Jackson, the Sloganmaster, says “it’s an honor to be a food stamp president.”  Seriously!  Here’s the quote from race-pimp Jesse Jackson:
“Say, it’s an honor to be a food stamp president. Food stamps feed the hungry. Food stamps save the children. Food stamps help the farmer. Food stamps help the truck driver. Food stamps help the warehouse. Food stamps help the store. Food stamps hire people and feed people. Food stamps save people from starvation and malnutrition,” says Jackson. “Whenever you attack feeding the hungry, you undermine the moral authority of our faith. Give President Barack Obama a big hand. Show your love. Show your appreciation.”
When you think about this it makes perfect sense.  Democrat power is built on dependency.  As more people become dependent on government Democrats grow stronger; as more people become self-reliant Democrats grow weaker.  Wouldn’t that make you proud to be a Democrat?

***Jeremy Lin and his unusual Tiger mom.

School, church and hours and hours of basketball?
That’s not the usual order of things in most Asian and Asian-American households, but Shirley Lin (mother of NBA rookie phenom Jeremy Lin) isn’t a typical Tiger mother. She was even criticized by her peers for allowing her boys to spend so much time honing their skills on the court…but she knew they loved the game, so she loved it alongside them. Here’s an interesting article from the New York Times about the parents of Jeremy Lin and the great love and encouragement they gave their boys – swimming upstream in countless ways to provide them opportunities to achieve.

***The poison preachers are back.

In a fiery lecture to thousands of followers of the Nation of Islam on Sunday in Chicago, Minister Louis Farrakhan warned that racial hatred could lead to attempts to assassinate President Barack Obama.
Farrakhan spent much of his oration decrying what he cast as Satan’s influence over racist forces in politics and society before asking a pointed rhetorical question: “Do you think they’re wicked enough to be plotting our brother’s assassination as we speak?”

(Er, never mind that the most recent murder-minded plotter headed toward the Capitol was a Moroccan Muslim jihadist.)

And if it happens, do you think the media will look back on this speech and rail about civility? Of course not.

Watch the MSM look the other way at Farrakhan’s usual, anti-Semitic tripe. Oh, and when Obama’s friends invoke Satan? Ho-hum:

Farrakhan drew a distinction between noble Jews and followers of “the synagogue of Satan,” and he pointed to a recent incident in which the publisher of a Jewish magazine suggested Israeli security forces could help preserve Israel by killing Obama. He attacked Israeli policies, while also directing criticism at perceived Jewish influence in the U.S.
“Jewish people were not the origin of Hollywood, but they took it over,” he said, blaming the entertainment industry for degrading the country’s morality.

These people call themselves ministers, but they're only ministers of evil. They make me sick.

***The Democrat gas hypocrisy. This is so obvious. Too bad the media can't be bothered with it.

RUSH: Michael Janofsky at the New York Times, April 24th, 2006, about six years ago: "Democrats Eager to Exploit Anger Over Gas Prices." This is back in 2006. The Democrats were running for office in the midterm elections trying to talk us into a recession. This is after they had failed at trying to talk us into failure in Iraq. "Democrats running for Congress are moving quickly to use the most recent surge in oil and gasoline prices to bash Republicans over energy policy, and more broadly, the direction of the country. With oil prices hitting a high this week and prices at the pump topping $3 a gallon in many places..." We're now over $5 in California. In 2006, with "prices at the pump topping $3 a gallon in many places Amy Klobuchar, a Democratic Senate candidate in Minnesota, is making the issue the centerpiece of her campaign. Ms. Klobuchar says it 'is one of the first things people bring up' at her campaign stops. To varying degrees, Democrats around the country are following a similar script that touches on economic anxiety and populist resentment against oil companies."

It's the oil companies, not politics, that are the problem now. Quite a turnaround, and quite typical of the lying Democrats.

***This is great. The Obama campaign released an absurdly false fundraising letter with outright lies regarding the Koch Brothers. Take the time to read their response. This is how Republicans have to respond to crap like this - not just ignore it and hope it goes away. We have to fight back, and this is how to do it.

Nobel Nonsense

***Need any more proof that the Nobel Peace Prize is worthless? Here are three of this year's nominees:

Bill Clinton, Wikileaks leaker Bradley Manning, the European Union.

Where to start?

***Democratic governors discuss bypassing Congress with Obama. See? The Constitution just gets in his way. They have to try to find a way around it.

President Obama met with a group of Democratic governors on Friday and discussed plans to work around Congress toward policy goals.

Gov. Jack Markell, the Democratic governor of Delaware and the vice chairman of the National Governors Association, told The Hill that the meeting was “very good” and said many of the governors were responsive to ideas about bypassing Congress.

“There was a sense that none of us should wait, we can’t wait for things to happen in Congress,” Markell said of the meeting. “We’re going to do what we can do [now].”

Shout this from the rooftops, Republicans. This is outrageous.

***Craziest bacon products. When we went to Columbus Friday we went to a Chocoholics store. Johnny got a bacon chocolate bar. I love bacon, I love chocolate...but NOT together! Ew.

Bacon bits, chocolate-covered bacon, bacon cupcakes, bacon pasta, bacon doughnuts, bacon ice cream, bacon frosting — there’s no limit to the ways people use and abuse bacon. Even the famous bacon explosion recipe (two pounds of bacon woven through and around two pounds of sausage and slathered in barbecue sauce), which got a write-up in The New York Times, doesn’t seem to have put an end to the heights (or depths) that folks will go to when exploiting, er, using bacon. And that’s why there’s no end to bacon products being sold out there — many, absolutely ridiculous.

Read the whole thing, there are lots of links to some pretty wild ideas.

***"Courageous" takes top honors at Christian film festival. I still haven't seen this, but I really need to make it a point. I've heard it's really good, and finding good movies nowadays is hard.

My dad tells the story of watching a special on public television 30 years ago which took a look at where life on planet Earth came from. After a couple of hours of working backwards using Darwinian evolution as the basis for understanding where we came from, the scientist came down to the most basic form of life -- the cell. The cell is pretty much universally agreed to be the basic structural and functional unit of all known living organisms. It is the smallest unit of life that is classified as a living thing, and is often called the building block of life.

Even if you bought into the theory of evolution presented in the PBS show, there was still one major problem with how the program ended: it failed to say where that one living cell came from. And a fundamental law of science is that you cannot get life from non-life.

Night and Day

***The difference in how our liberal media covers conservatives and liberals is as different as night and day; there is now very little objective media left in this country. Journalists are meant to report the news without slant either way, as much as possible. That is no longer the case. Most of them are no more than liberal hacks. Read this story about the difference - remember the joke Foster Friess made about a girl holding an aspirin between her knees as birth control? The left was shocked, SHOCKED! Compare that to the coverage of Democratic governor Bev Purdue opining that elections for Congress be suspended for two years. She was obviously not joking, but the media gave her the benefit of the doubt and covered for her because they knew how outrageous and unconstitutional her comment was. It's as clear as night and day. The reason they hate Fox News is because it is at least much closer to objective than anything else out there. They cannot afford to let the truth be known, so they attack. And...of course, the liberal lemmings believe everything they say without question. Go ahead, next time you hear someone attack Fox News, make them give you an example.

***This is absolutely NUTS: Dad arrested over daughter's gun drawing.

Police arrested a Kitchener, Ont., father outside his daughter's school because the four-year-old drew a picture of him holding a gun.
Jessie Sansone told the Record newspaper that he was in shock when he was arrested Wednesday and taken to a police station for questioning over the drawing. He was also strip-searched.
"This is completely insane. My daughter drew a gun on a piece of paper at school," he said.
Officials told the newspaper the move was necessary to ensure there were no guns accessible by children in the family's home. They also said comments by Sansone's daughter, Neaveh, that the man holding the gun in the picture was her dad and "he uses it to shoot bad guys and monsters," was concerning.
Police also searched Sansone's home while he was in custody. His wife and three children were taken to the police station, and the children were interviewed by Family and Children's Services.
Sansone's wife, Stephanie Squires, told the newspaper no one told them why her husband had been arrested.
"He had absolutely no idea what this was even about. I just kept telling them, 'You're making a mistake.'"
Several hours later, Sansone was released without charges.

This happened in Canada. This guy should sue the pants off the police department, the city, and anyone else involved. This kind of stuff can't be tolerated.

***War veterans plan 4,163 mile bike ride.

Jeremy Staat and Wesley Barrientos, veterans of the Iraq War, have been consumed by that feeling for months now. They’re proud of their military service and proud of their fellow veterans — but they’re also alarmed by the jump in suicides among U.S. veterans and service members during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. They’re so concerned, in fact, that they plan to embark Sunday on a cross-continental bicycle ride to call attention to it. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that a veteran dies by suicide every 80 minutes. That’s an annual death toll of about 6,500 — more than all the U.S. military casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan since those conflicts began. “We need more support for our nation’s veterans,” said Staat, 35, a U.S. Marine veteran and retired NFL player who lives in Bakersfield, Calif. “They deserve our gratitude, and they should get the help they need.”

***Aren't you excited about the Oscars tonight? That was sarcasm, folks. I couldn't possibly care less. What Hollywood puts out any more is almost painful, with a decent film thrown in here and there.

Now consider the best picture nominees for 1939: Gone With the Wind, Stagecoach, Wuthering Heights, Dark Victory, Love Affair, Ninotchka, Goodbye Mr. Chips, Of Mice and Men, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, The Wizard of Oz.

***Why is Obama in bed with the Muslim brotherhood?

Dr. Essam Abdallah, an Egyptian liberal intellectual, in an article published last October in the leading liberal pan-Arab journal Elaph, refers to certain reports coming out of Washington:
These reports reveal the depth of the below-the-surface coordination between the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranian regime and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Libya and Jordan. This bloc of regimes and organizations is now becoming the greatest Islamist radical lobby ever to penetrate and infiltrate the White House, Congress, the State Department and the main decision making centers of the US government. All of this is happening at a time when the US government is going through its most strategically dangerous period in modern times because of its need to confront the Iranian Mullahs regime, which is expanding in the Middle East, as well as penetrating the United States, via powerful and influential allies.

Obama Apologizing Again

***This time, to Afghanistan. What a bumbling buffoon we have in the White House.

We have officially lost our minds.
The New York Times reports that President Obama has sent a formal letter of apology to Afghanistan’s ingrate president, Hamid Karzai, for the burning of Korans at a U.S. military base. The only upside of the apology is that it appears (based on the Times account) to be couched as coming personally from our blindly Islamophilic president — “I wish to express my deep regret for the reported incident. . . . I extend to you and the Afghani people my sincere apologies.” It is not couched as an apology from the American people, whose frame of mind will be outrage, not contrition, as the facts become more widely known.
The facts are that the Korans were seized at a jail because jihadists imprisoned there were using them not for prayer but to communicate incendiary messages. The soldiers dispatched to burn refuse from the jail were not the officials who had seized the books, had no idea they were burning Korans, and tried desperately to retrieve the books when the situation was brought to their attention.

Did he make it clear that our soldiers were not acting out of malice or taunting the prisoners? No. Did he even defend them? No. Honestly, I hope every one of the Republican candidates makes sure the American people know about this. The media certainly won't.

Here is what they think of us...anybody ever apologize for this?

As our great Iraqi ally Ayatollah Ali Sistani teaches, touching a kafir (“one who does not believe in Allah and His Oneness”) is to be avoided, because Islamic scripture categorizes infidels as equivalent to “urine, feces, semen, dead bodies, blood, dogs, pigs, alcoholic liquors,” and “the sweat of an animal who persistently eats filth.” That is what influential clerics — not al-Qaeda but revered scholars of Islamic law — inculcate in rank-and-file Muslims.

***More Geithner wisdom:

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, speaking this morning on CNBC:
"That’s the kind of balance you need," said Geithner. "Why is that the case? Because if you don't try to generate more revenues through tax reform, if you don't ask, you know, the most fortunate Americans to bear a slightly larger burden of the privilege of being an American, then you have to -- the only way to achieve fiscal sustainability is through unacceptably deep cuts in benefits for middle class seniors, or unacceptably deep cuts in national security."

Is That All You Got?

***Ever notice when you're in an argument with a liberal, they will never address the factual data you present? I've noticed this on forums, in person, and on Facebook. Most recently I was in a discussion with global warming believers. When I presented the evidence from NASA and other sources that the earth was in fact NOT warming, they completely ignored it. It was as if I had never presented it. Their argument? Hey, it's warmer than usual today! Then, of course, as is the habit of most liberals who have nothing to back up their claims, the childish namecalling began, which is when I exited the conversation. It's silly to waste time arguing with those who refuse to even acknowledge that someone else may have a valid opinion that differs from theirs. Liberals are very tolerant, as long as you're agreeing with them. If you don't, they become either vicious or regress into "Tea Partiers are retards" mode.

They’re starting by fitting those scanners into a fighter pilot’s helmet, thanks a miniaturization breakthrough form Taiwanese chipmakers.
The helmet based monitoring system would also signal if a pilot is reaching processing overload; pilots today must contend with increasingly complex weapons systems while processing huge volumes of information.

Other than taking Mom on her Meals on Wheels route, I will be glued to this chair. No wonder I can't get the rest of this weight off..!!

***Obama's legacy: Mountains of Debt.

Maybe you have to be Greece before most people get seriously concerned about sovereign debt. Of all the good reasons to evict Barack Obama from the presidency in November, the most fundamental is that he is spending our country into financial ruin. I don’t think most Americans understand how much federal spending and debt have risen during the Obama administration (and even before it, when Democrats took control of Congress in 2007) and are projected to rise in the future under Obama’s budget proposal. These two charts, from the Senate Budget Committee, tell the story in a very simple way. This one shows the federal debt per household from 2000 through 2022; the numbers are actual to the present and thereafter represent the projections in Obama’s FY 2013 budget. Those projections are taken at face value, rosy assumptions and all. Still, the picture is staggering:

This is what our Republican candidates should be focusing on. And our liberal "friends?" Stop worrying about Santorum's sweater vests and the global warming hoax. There are much more pressing issues. I understand, though, why the Left is trying to steer the national conversation to contraception and getting kids to exercise. They certainly don't want people noticing the awful state of our economy and our laughable (if it wasn't so scary) foreign policy. There is so much to beat Obama with, Republicans. Absolutely Bat Crazy!!

***Honestly, this kind of thing is ridiculous. A man was arrested in New Hampshire for firing his gun INTO THE GROUND to stop a burglar. What the heck...??

A New Hampshire man who fired his handgun into the ground to scare an alleged burglar he caught crawling out of a neighbor's window is now facing a felony charge -- and the same potential prison sentence as the man he stopped.
Dennis Fleming, 61, of Farmington, was arrested for reckless conduct after the Saturday incident at his 19th century farmhouse. The single grandfather had returned home to find that his home had been burglarized and spotted Joseph Hebert, 27, climbing out of a window at a neighbor's home. Fleming said he yelled "Freeze!" before firing his gun into the ground, then held Hebert at gunpoint until police arrived.
"I didn't think I could handle this guy physically, so I fired into the ground," Fleming told "He stopped. He knew I was serious. I was angry … and I was worried that this guy was going to come after me."
No one was injured in the incident, but when the police arrived, they made two arrests. Hebert was charged with two counts of burglary and drug possession. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted. Fleming, meanwhile, is scheduled to be arraigned March 20 on a charge of reckless conduct, which could potentially land him a sentence similar to the one Hebert faces.

How nuts is that??

"It was a tiny granule of coke that I put on my wrist and said, 'Watch this. I need a witness.' And then I ducked under the table and did it," Cross said. "It wasn't like I got high. The jolt was similar to licking an empty espresso cup."
Cross, who admits to experimenting with a wide range of drugs, including crack cocaine, said his goal at the 2009 event was not to get high.
"It was just about being able to say that I did it, that I did cocaine in the same room as the president," he said. "I'm not proud of it, nor am I ashamed of it."

What a buffoon.

RUSH: I mentioned moments ago on this program that Barack Obama had made a statement that sets the bar so low for what he thinks is middle-class success, happiness, and achievement in this country.  I've got the actual sound bite.  I want you to listen to this.  This is Barack Obama, January 25th in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at Conveyor Engineering & Manufacturing company.  Just a brief portion of what he said.

OBAMA:  If you're willing to put in the work, the idea is that you should be able to raise a family and own a home, not go bankrupt because you got sick, 'cause you've got some health insurance that helps you deal with those difficult times; that you can send your kids to college; that you can put some money away for retirement.  That's all most people want.  Folks don't have unrealistic ambitions.  They do believe that, if they work hard, they should be able to achieve that small measure of an American dream.

Oh, isn't he wonderful? The above is all you need, people. Do not aspire for greatness. Do not have big dreams. As long as you don't starve or go bankrupt, you're living the Obama American Dream! Geez, we gotta get rid of this guy...

***Barack Obama: Greatest Gun Salesman in the U.S.?

It seems fair to say that any American citizen who cherishes the Second Amendment cannot – and should not – reelect Barack Obama later this year. Since entering public life, as his record demonstrates, the president has repeatedly and unequivocally supported controversial legislation as a way to limit the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. In his most recent book, for example, then-Senator Obama even asserted that keeping guns out of inner cities was a moral responsibility. Paradoxically, however, his efforts to undermine the Second Amendment and impose more stringent gun control laws are prompting U.S. citizens everywhere to purchase firearms. And according to, American firearms sales and concealed handgun permit applications this year have reached an all-time high since 2008.

Well, you know what they say about every cloud having a silver lining.

***Forgot to blog about this when I found it - my Deficit Spending Awareness pin! Back in the 90s Rush was making fun of all the different colored "Awareness" pins celebrities were wearing to make their fans think they cared. Pink for breast cancer, green for the environment, stuff like that. Rush came up with the "Deficit Spending Awareness" pin to show our awareness that the government was spending money we didn't have. Boy, does that ever apply today! Here's mine:

It's made out of a $1 bill - I think we should all make them and wear them!

***Minnesota fight regarding voter ID. It's common sense to make sure the person voting is who they say they are - but that makes it harder for the Democrats to cheat, so they always oppose ID laws. However, when they lose they'll always pretend that they were cheated! These people are despicable.

***Remember this the next time Obama is whining about us "paying our fair share." Yeah, he thinks you're rich if you make $100,000 a year, and he and the Democrats are gonna soak you...even if you make less than that.

As Americans sit down to file their federal tax returns, a simple question comes to mind -- what's a "fair share" to give the federal government in taxes?
For half the working population, fair means paying almost no income taxes at all.
"The top 10 percent income earners pay about 70 percent of federal income taxes," says Will McBride of the Tax Foundation. "The bottom 50 percent of tax filers have, they pay almost no federal income tax. They pay about 3 percent of federal income taxes."

Democrats don't want you to know this. They love to talk about "loopholes" and how the rich get out of paying taxes. First of all, "loopholes" are not illegal. They are simply ways people find to hold on to more of their OWN MONEY. Why people think that's such a crime is a mystery to me. Well, no it's not. It's planned by people like Obama to create class warfare, they WANT the middle and lower class earners to be jealous of business owners and the like. They WANT that friction, so they'll look noble when they steal their money. What's worse? They've even set it up so those who pay no taxes still get a refund!! How on earth do you get a refund on something you didn't spend in the first place? Ah, the genius of the liberal.

But for many of the people who pay no taxes, the government also allows tax credits, which end up providing refunds.
"Close to a hundred billion in checks sent out by the IRS (go) to folks who have no tax liability," McBride said. "So the IRS is becoming a spending agency."
Arthur Brooks, head of the American Enterprise Institute, put it this way: "Half of the people who don’t pay anything in federal income taxes -- about half of them pay less than zero."
But Brooks says the system is tilted even more toward those in the middle class and below because they also get services from the federal government. As a result the per capita value of government spending exceeds what those individuals pay in federal taxes.
"Right now about 70 percent of Americans take more out of the tax system than they put into it, according to the Tax Foundation," Brooks said."That's something that should really alarm a lot of Americans."

That's the Democrats' version of "fairness."

***Obama is driving us crazy. How are people coping with so much unemployment? By filing for disability.

Standing too many months on the unemployment line is driving Americans crazy — literally — and it’s costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars.
With their unemployment-insurance checks running out, some of the country’s long-term jobless are scrambling to fill the gap by filing claims for mental illness and other disabilities with Social Security — a surge that hobbles taxpayers and making the employment rate look healthier than it should as these people drop out of the job statistics. …
As of January, the federal government was mailing out disability checks to more than 10.5 million individuals, including 2 million to spouses and children of disabled workers, at a cost of record $200 billion a year, recent research from JPMorgan Chase shows.

More and more like Britain and Greece...and we see how that's working out.

***Michelle Obama on vacation *again*. Guess who's paying for this?

Just over a month ago, Michelle Obama was relaxing in Hawaii during a 17-day vacation. Hawaii came just four months after a long stay in swanky Martha's Vineyard and now, Michelle Obama is vacationing in Aspen, Colorado.
First lady Michelle Obama’s weekend jaunt to Aspen, Colorado for a President’s Day ski holiday with her daughters Sasha and Malia makes the 16th time members of the first family have gone on extended vacations during their three years in office.

Oh, remember the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth whenever Dubya took some time off? He certainly was a piker compared to this president and his family.

As Time Goes By...

***No, I'm not reminiscing about Humphrey Bogart. This is a great, if disturbing, post by Victor Davis Hansen over at National Review Online.

It is hard to remember a more tense time in the last 20 years. Tiny Israel may be poised to preempt the nuclear capabilities of Iran (an Iran that itself once attempted, unsuccessfully, to take out the Iraqi reactor at Osirak before Israel finished the job), whose terrorist appendages and missiles have the ability to do it a great deal of damage in return. How such a war would escalate or end, no one knows. There is no sense of a global effort to stop Iran’s proliferation, given that China and Russia seem to enjoy the irritation that Iran causes the West. I think U.S. policy amounts to a sort of shrug (we publicly discourage the Israelis, privately sorta hope they do, and publicly will sorta condemn them if they do). Whatever is happening in Afghanistan and Iraq, no one seems to know, or — despite our tens of thousands of troops in combat — even seem to care, given that the administration seems irked more than engaged.

Read the whole thing, it's short.

***Ronald Reagan voted "Best President" in Harris Poll. Amen to that. The worst? In my opinion, it's a tie between Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter.

President Ronald Reagan confronted challenges as daunting as those the nation faces today, and met them so successfully that he’s now considered the best president in modern times.
In a recently released Harris poll asking respondents who they consider the “best president since World War II,” Ronald Reagan is cited by 25 percent, well ahead of Franklin Roosevelt at 19 percent and John Kennedy at 15 percent.

Wish we had a man like him in office right now.

SARAH HOYT: Dispatches From Different Wars. “Over the last few days it’s been impossible for me to log on to the Face Book without being assaulted by postings on the ‘Republicans War On Women’ from my female Face Book Friends most of whom are educated and many of whom work in a profession that, at least in broad theory, requires them to have the capacity for original or individual thought. . . . But no one is discussing banning contraceptives or even abortion. The contraceptive issue was introduced in a Republican debate by George ‘Supine’ Stephanopoulos as a means of painting Republicans as being against contraceptives. . . . What kind of enormous, unyielding, painful daddy issues have you got to have to think that Uncle Sam has to force a CHURCH to pay for your contraception?”

Democrats are worried, so they’re playing the Republicans Will Steal Your Ladyparts!!!! card. And the knees are jerking as hoped. Women, you’re being played. Again.

Please don't call George Stephanopolous a journalist. He's a Democrat tool.

In the blue serenity of the Sky;
In the reckless exuberance of Spring;
In the severe abstinence of gray Winter;
In the Living flesh that animates our bodily frame;
In the perfect poise of the Human figure, noble and upright;
In Living;
In the exercise of all our powers;

***Today is President's Day.

Americans in 1787 knew they could count on the “moderation and virtue” of this one man enough to entrust him with this brand new and undefined office.  Washington knew his decisions and actions would be crucial to whether the office—and the Constitution—would succeed for the ages.  “Few who are not philosophical spectators,” he wrote, “can realize the difficult and delicate part which a man in my situation has to act. . .  In our progress toward political happiness my station is new; and, if I may use the expression, I walk on untrodden ground.  There is scarcely any part of my conduct which may not hereafter be drawn into precedent.”

Don't forget the banks and Post Offices are closed today.

***Obama's deep disrespect for Congress and the rest of us.

The Obama Administration's FY2013 federal budget is inherently dishonest and is a reelection scheme that masquerades as a budget.  Take a close look, and you will see that the Obama Administration’s approach has veered far away from mere incompetence and political expediency.
President Obama, it would seem, has crossed into new territory and his Administration, unhappy with the constitutional constraints on Executive authority to direct spending, is now openly violating the Constitution.
