Early to Rise...

***Yeah, even on Saturday. Gotta get some work done, because I'm going Christmas shopping with Emily, Johnny, and Hope, one of Emily's best friends, today! We do this every year. I'm really looking forward to it.

***What a surprise: Blue States have more takers than makers. Isn't that the definition of "Democrat?"

***Michigan Republicans pushing right-to-work. And of course, the unions don't like it. I hope they stick to their guns, SOMEBODY on our side needs to. Don't even try to be nice and get along. The Democrats certainly don't.

Michigan Republicans touched off a firestorm Thursday with an abrupt push to pass right-to-work legislation, in what would be a blow to organized labor in the home of the U.S. auto industry.
Right-to-work legislation prohibits unions from forcing workers to pay union dues. Unions and their Democratic allies adamantly oppose these laws -- but with little warning, Michigan Republicans on Thursday laid the groundwork to, in a matter of days, make their state the 24th with right-to-work legislation.
"This is all about taking care of the hard-working workers in Michigan, being pro-worker and giving them freedom to make choices," Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder said. "The goal isn't to divide Michigan, it is to bring Michigan together."

Today, as my 91-year-old grandfather (a military doctor, war hero, and successful business owner) rested in his hospital bed, I asked him what his greatest life accomplishment was. He turned around, grabbed my grandmother’s hand, looked her in the eyes, and said, “Growing old with you.”
*** South Korean rapper PSY raps about torturing American soldiers will be a guest at the White House. Why not? They share the same values.

A few years later, PSY cursed Americans after a South Korean missionary was executed. His song “Dear American” sets the record straight.
“Kill those f***ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives/Kill those f***ing Yankees who ordered them to torture/Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully,” he raps.

***Your Christmas money plan.

I'm probably about 80% done with my shopping - paid for, no credit whatsoever. We learned the hard way with credit cards and are still crawling out of that hole. We're getting there, though - there's a light at the end of the tunnel! We haven't incurred any new debt in a long time (other than college loans), and don't intend to. Credit card debt will eat you alive, take it from one who knows. Don't do it.

  1. That woman's shoes tell the story of modern-day America. Eventually, there will be nothing left to take, which is why socialism has never worked. Right now, we have overgrown our welfare state.

  2. But the Left doesn't seem to get that. There are so many economically illiterate people out there who think all the government has to do is keep taking more and more from the producers, and all of these entitlements will be fully funded. You can't teach common sense, and economics is obviously not taught in our schools any more. It's a scary situation.
