Don't Back Down

***Republicans so far are holding firm on refusing tax rate hikes - let's hope they don't go wobbly on us.

Congressional leaders took a hard line on taxes ahead of a meeting Friday at the White House, with rank-and-file Republicans expressing opposition to a “fiscal cliff” deal that would bring in more revenue to the government.
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has said Republicans could accept new revenues, but not tax-rate hikes, as part of a broad deficit deal, but President Obama and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said it was unlikely that eliminating loopholes and capping deductions could raise enough revenue to gain their support.

Here's a novel idea: Why don't you reduce spending?

***U.S. Postal Service loses $15.9 billion. Yikes.

***Brink of war. This is not good. And we have a complete neophyte as our Commander-in-Chief. Pray for our military.

***Geez, there is massive ignorance out there among liberals regarding how the economy and capitalism works. They are saying companies such as Applebee's and Papa John's who say they'll have to downsize in response to the coming tax increases are doing so solely because Obama won - in other words, they're doing it out of spite. That is stupid on so many levels. Business owners don't downsize out of spite. They downsize in order to stay in business. They are either going to have to pass the massive costs which will burden them because of Obamacare and the fiscal cliff on to the customer, reduce their overhead, or a combination of both. These ignoramuses think businesses are a bottomless pit of money, and just decide on a whim how to spend it. Speaking as a small business owner, let me tell you that is not the case. What the heck are they teaching in schools now?? It sure ain't common sense and economics.

***And he believes it...Obama: No evidence Petraeus scandal harmed national security. problem if national secrets ended up on his girlfriend's computer. Nothing to see here, move along...

***Weekly jobless claims jump from 73,000 to 430,000. Right after the election. Coincidence.

***Revenge on the rich. Here it comes.

A Song from the Suds

Queen of my tub, I merrily sing,
While the white foam raises high,
And sturdily wash, and rinse, and wring,
And fasten the clothes to dry;
Then out in the free fresh air they swing,
Under the sunny sky.

I wish we could wash from our hearts and our souls
The stains of the week away,
And let water and air by their magic make
Ourselves as pure as they;
Then on the earth there would be indeed
A glorious washing day!

Along the path of a useful life
Will heart's-ease ever bloom;
The busy mind has no time to think
Of sorrow, or care, or gloom;
And anxious thoughts may be swept away
As we busily wield a broom.

I am glad a task to me is given
To labor at day by day;
For it brings me health, and strength, and hope,
And I cheerfully learn to say-
"Head, you may think; heart, you may feel;
But hand, you shall work always!"

Louisa May Alcott

***"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it." Ralph Waldo Emerson

***Have a great day!
