Rise and Fall

***That Penn State thing is such a tragedy. An impressive career, a distinguished school, a solid football program - all ruined.

The NCAA handed down sanctions against the football program on July 23. The penalties include a $60 million fine, a four-year postseason ban, and the vacation of all wins dating to 1998.

The damaged Penn State football program faces an uncertain future.
Of course, there had to be punishment. If they knew Sandusky was abusive and didn't do anything about it, that's despicable. Unfortunately, for the next four years the Penn State students have to suffer for the crimes of these men.

***Oh, such tolerance! The owner of Chick-fil-A stands up for what he - and most Americans - believes is right regarding gay marriage, and the hatred from the Left is staggering. Yes, he had the nerve to state publicly what the Bible says about marriage - it's between a man and a woman. Period. The Left whines and cries about "gay rights" and "inequality." Baloney. The law is applied equally. I can't marry a woman. You can't marry someone of your own gender. Of course it's applied equally. The thing is, they want to change the definition of marriage. Nobody's telling them they can't live together, be a couple, etc. But the foundation and definition of marriage is Biblical and spiritual, and again, consists of a man and a woman. I wish we had a Chick-fil-A in Richmond so I could patronize it.

Mike Huckabee is launching a "Support Chick-fil-A" day on Aug. 1. I think I'll drive to Dayton just so I can join in.

***Bad timing: Obama praises himself for ending a war - on the bloodiest day of the year in Iraq.

***3 killed, 28 hurt in shootings since Friday - in Chicago. They have some of the strictest gun laws in the United States. Yeah, that's the answer.

***The Obama Administration is intent on making more Americans dependent on the government. This should be obvious to even the most blinded Obama supporter - but obviously, it isn't. Now he wants to waive the work requirements for welfare. With a wave of his hand. The man thinks he's God.

***Dispelling gun myths

***Radical generosity. This is neat..

***Michael Jackson's family "dysfunctional." Who knew?

***In a nutshell: A vote for Obama is a vote for $500 billion tax increase.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

For the first time ever, women are scoring higher than men on IQ tests. Scientists it has something to do with breast implants — not that it makes the women smarter, it just makes the men dumber.

Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke told a congressional committee the economic recovery is weakening. But the good news is most Americans will not be affected because they had no idea there was a recovery.

Jobless claims rose again by 35,000 last week. Not good. But it does show that if you're unsuccessful in this country, you didn't do it on your own. You had help. Thank you, President Obama

  1. And here's the biggie: The policy at Penn State which allowed Jerry Sandusky to be PROTECTED is still there. Homosexual special rights activists in 1992 ordered "sexual orientation" added to the school's official protected list and in "nondiscrimination" clauses after Joe Paterno protected Rene Portland (women's basketball head coach) when she said "no drugs, alcohol, or homosexual behaviour" on her team. The special rights activists cried, and the Faculty Senate struck back, passing the policy that effectively gave Sandusky the right to molest.

Why didn't the NCAA punish the faculty and tell them to abolish the policy that created this mess? Now this year's freshmen will be the 1980 Summer Olympic Team -- practice, do everything, but will not have the fruits of any postseason.
