***Ever heard "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood? Great song! However, an elementary school in Massachusetts decided they needed to remove the word "God" when the children sang it, so now they sing "We Love the USA." How sickening is that??
Parents at a Massachusetts elementary school are furious after educators first removed the word ‘God’ from the popular Lee Greenwood song, “God Bless the U.S.A.” and then pulled the song all together from an upcoming concert.
Fox 25 in Boston is reporting that children at Stall Brook Elementary School in Bellingham were told to sing, “We love the U.S.A.” instead of “God Bless the U.S.A.”
Here's Lee Greenwood's response:
“The most important word in the whole piece of music is the word God, which is also in the title ‘God Bless The USA,” Greenwood said. “Maybe the school should have asked the parents their thoughts before changing the lyrics to the song. They could have even asked the writer of the song, which I of course, would have said you can’t change the lyrics at all or any part of the song.”
Because of the negative feedback from the parents, school officials decided to pull the song altogether. What a bunch of cowards.
***From Michael Ledeen, "It's Not the Constitution, Stupid!"
I don’t think that President Obama believes a word of his remarks about what the Supreme Court can or cannot do about any given piece of legislation. Attorney General Holder said as much today when he agreed that the Supremes are there specifically to protect against laws they consider unconstitutional. Holder’s not picking a fight with his boss.
It’s not about that. It’s about power. And freedom.
Power, because the president and his people think that, since they are smarter and better than the rest of us, anyone who tries to limit their power is bad, and has to be brought into line. Thus, the tough words of warning to any justice contemplating voting against Obamacare.
Freedom, because the accumulation of power in the hands of the executive branch comes at our expense, bit by bit and law by law, precisely as Alexis de Tocqueville feared.
As he said, “The nature of despotic power in democratic ages is not to be fierce or cruel, but minute and meddling.”
***You are what you drive. Love this.
Strategic Vision conducted a major study of new automobile buyers, including party affiliation. For what it’s worth, a new car buyer is more likely to be a Republican than a Democrat, by 37% to 31%. Strategic Vision identified the five “most popular models” for Democrats and Republicans. The results look like a parody, but they aren’t:
1. Honda Civic Hybrid
2. Volvo C30
3. Nissan Leaf
4. Acura TSX Wagon
5. Ford Fiesta sedan
1. Ford Mustang Convertible
2. Audi A8
3. Mercedes GL
4. Ford Expedition
5. Ford F-‐150
***Most coveted endorsement for a candidate? Ronald Reagan. Ohhhh...for another Reagan...
He hasn't held office since 1989. In fact, he's been dead since 2004. But former President Ronald Reagan has been a regular presence on the campaign trail this year.
Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has made pilgrimages to Reagan's home town and the factory that makes his favorite candy as he tries to rally conservative voters to his fading campaign. Newt Gingrich regularly calls himself a "bold Reagan conservative." Mitt Romney has proposed a "Reagan economic zone" to boost free trade.
Even Democratic President Barack Obama has gotten in on the act, suggesting that the champion of the modern conservative movement would be viewed as too moderate in today's Republican party.
