Oh Joy!

***I get to go have a colonoscopy this morning, what fun!! I've always heard people say the prep is worse than the test, and I believe it! Boy, I'd love to have some coffee right now, but I can't even have water.

***Hurricane Earl is getting a bit scary!

***More bad news for Democrats.

***Obama wants to continue and expand policies that are obviously not working, expecting a better outcome. Isn't that the definition of insanity?

***Michael Jackson's oldest kids, Prince and Paris, are being sent to public school - with full bodyguard detail. I'll bet that stifles the whole making friends thing. Those kids will never live a normal life, unfortunately.

***Wouldn't it be sweet to beat Barney Frank?? It's possible. I know I'm sending a donation.

***Wallowing in Katrina. This is so true. It has been five years, people. Stop asking America to support you and stand on your own two feet. This mindset is what entrenched liberalism gets you.

***Great post over at Power Line describing Obama's unwillingness to give George W. Bush credit for the surge that is making the drawdown possible. This line is the best:

One can debate whether Obama is a terrible President--I think he is--but I don't think anyone can deny that he is an unmanly jerk.

Hard to argue with that.

***Sad statistics on the black condition in this country - and nobody is discussing it for fear of being called a racist.

70% of black children born in the United States are born to unmarried women.
More than 60% of black high school dropouts born since the mid-1960s go to prison.
For every bachelor's degree conferred on a black man, 2 are conferred on a black woman.
Only 35% of black children live with two parents.

Nobody forces a young black woman to behave like a brood mare. To insinuate that the reason for the above is racism is ludicrous. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

***Another Democrat in ethics trouble? Surely not!!

Finally Figured it Out

***I've been trying to figure out what has been wrong with my shoulders and biceps, Googling my symptoms, etc., and there is one thing that fits perfectly - biceps tendinitis. Makes sense, I've been doing a lot of the overhead weight machines at the gym, swimming laps, etc., lots of overhead work. I've cut back on the weight lifting, now just using my dumbbells at home, walking, biking, and swimming. I think I will try to rest it further by doing the breaststroke instead of the crawl at the pool, and limiting the overhead presses with the dumbbells. Hopefully that'll work, 'cause it really hurts!

***Sharpton, not Beck, distorts MLK's legacy. Amen, Gregory Kane.

King came of age -- and gained his fame -- as the symbolic and spiritual leader of the Montgomery bus boycott. It was a struggle that saw the black citizens of Montgomery, Ala., with dignity and courage stage a disciplined, principled boycott that led to the desegregation of buses in that city.

Sharpton came to fame as a result of the Tawana Brawley mess, where the words "dignity," "disciplined" and "principled" never applied. Sharpton and others accused a white prosecutor of raping Brawley, who was then a teenager. Charges that the white man raped the black girl were never proved, and some claimed they were downright false.

But...he never apologized. Never seemed to care that he ruined that prosecutor's reputation. That was the point. He didn't care that the prosecutor and the other white men were innocent, he's just a race baiter who wanted to stir the pot, and he did so, and continues to do so, with abandon. I can't bring myself to call this charlatan a "reverend," any more than I can say the phrase, "Reverend Jesse Jackson." They are the opposite of what Martin Luther King stood for.

***Sickening corruption. This is the type of thing that got us Sen. Al Franken, the biggest joke in Washington.

***Ann Coulter has a great column out this week. Liberals demand that we take Obama at his word, but where were they when Sarah Palin said she was not Trig's mother? Obama's word is worthless, by the way, a very sad thing to say about the President of the United States.

***Obama's quite a smooth liar, isn't he?

Treasures!

***We found some really good yard sales yesterday. Some weeks we go to several and never find a thing - but yesterday every one we went to had interesting things. I got a whole set of stoneware, service for 8 with lots of accessories like a butter dish, gravy boat, spoon rest, etc., for **$5.00**!! I took everything out of the boxes when I got home to wash them and put them away, and everything is in great condition. What a bargain! I also got a candleholder and some beautfiul blue dessert dishes...let's see, a card table sized handpainted tablecoth with placemats to match - I think that's it! What fun!

***Okay, this is taking the fanatic fan thing a bit too far - John Lennon's toilet sells for almost $15,000!

***Tyranny. This person was arrested for taking pictures of a traffic jam FROM HIS OWN FRONT PORCH.

***NRA won't support Reid in Nevada. Well, good.

***Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" Rally at the Capitol was a big hit. Don't look for much positive coverage in the MSM, though. You'll have to find it alternatively, like here.

***John Boehner is saying the right things, the Republicans have to give voters a reason to vote FOR them, not just vote against Democrats. Granted, there are plenty of reasons to vote against the liberals, but Republicans need to stay focused on growth and freedom.

***Look at this little bitty frog!

More at National Geographic.

***Is Barack Obama a Christian? Lots of people seem to be asking that question. David Limbaugh takes a stab at the question here.

***More on the Restoring Honor rally. Wish I could have been there.

***Obama's approval highest among Muslims. There's a surprise.

Mighty Shoppers

***Good morning, everyone! My mom & I will be hitting yard sales this morning, then the Amish store, then I'll be hitting my computer for a while. Tonight we're having Mark's family over for pizza and then we're gonna light the fire pit and roast marshmallows. Sounds like fun, huh?

***How typical. The Pentagon moves to limit the damage the military vote does to them. That's the real reason behind this. This administration really sucks, y'know??

***Dang, time flies! We have had an absolutely gorgeous week weather-wise here in Indiana - sunny and 70s. Doesn't get any better than that.

Hi Y'all!

***Just pluggin' away at 3:00 a.m. again.

***Tea Party falsely accused again for the actions of a nutzoid Democrat. Our "media" really stinks in this country.

***Happy 80th Birthday, Sean Connery!

***This is a long read, but very inspirational if you have the time.

***This is quite a story if it holds. The Tea Party backed, pretty much unknown candidate Joe Miller is ahead of entrenched Sen. Lisa Murkowski in Alaska. Murkowski is a RINO, and I hope Miller's lead holds.

***Well, I guess 3:00 a.m. is the middle of the night for most people, but I have some stat reports I have to get finished this morning, so here I am.

***Nothing new to report this morning, just lots of work to do because I'm backing up another transcriptionist for a GYN group while she's on vacation.

***Going for the Geezer vote.

***Neal Boortz has it right:

You know, being a ruler isn't all private 747s and trips to Martha's Vineyard. . As a ruler, you have taken on the responsibility of decision making. You do not trust the great unwashed - the commoners - to make decisions for themselves. You're the ruler, you stud. You make these decisions for them. This is all well and good as long as the dumb masses - the commoners - are kept fat and happy. But if things take a turn for the worse (you can't find a job, for instance) the commoners place their problems and the blame back onto the rulers. This is what is happening in Washington. Perhaps the commoners are beginning to understand what will happen if they don't rise up and remove the rulers from power in November. It's not hard to figure out. The rulers will try to strengthen their position by stepping up their plunder of the pockets of the self-sufficient producers in order to keep the commoners fat and happy. This is their only choice. Real change to these Democrats is not tax reform or entitlement reform; real change to Democrats is finding a way to make MORE people reliant on government and to redistribute MORE wealth than ever before. Now that is change you can believe in! Sadly ... it IS change the moocher class can and does believe in.

***Got this via email - love it!

If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!
A United States Marine was taking some college courses
between assignments. He had completed 20 missions in Iraq
and Afghanistan . One of the courses had a professor  who
was an avowed atheist, and a member of the ACLU.
One day the professor shocked the class when he came in.
He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, "GOD, if you are real, then
I want you to knock me off this platform... I'll give you exactly 15 min."
The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes
went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am GOD, I'm still waiting."
It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got
out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him;
knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold.
The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently.
The other students were shocked and stunned, and sat there
looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to,
noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked,
"What in the world is the matter with you?  Why did you do that?"

The Marine calmly replied,
"GOD was too busy today protecting America 's
soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid
stuff and act like an idiot. So He sent me."
The classroom erupted in cheers!

I don't know if this is a true story, but it's great!

Great Time!

***Had a great time shopping with Emily & Johnathan yesterday. Penney's is having a great sale...well, I guess most places are trying to get rid of their summer merchandise. Old Navy is having a pretty good one, too. We got Emily some nice clothes for work at some really good prices, especially the pretty polo tops at Penney's for $10.00 each. We had lunch at Olive Garden. Today I have to clean again (seems a lot of my Saturdays are spent doing that!) because tomorrow's my mom's 84th birthday and everybody's coming here for a cookout. That oughta be fun! This time it's my side of the family coming. We don't get together nearly as often as Mark's family does, so I'm looking forward to it.

***Remember when the press talked about George W. Bush's faith, they derided it and practically called him a snakehandler? My, how times have changed.

***It's about time. I believe Wikileaks *should* be charged. There is no excuse for leaking classified documents, especially when they put our troops even more in harm's way. None.

***Cool motel rooms with a car motif. Neat!

***I've always wondered about this. I've seen so many people driving cars with their dog on their lap. Pretty dumb, if you asked me. That has to be a distraction. Geez, can't you leave your pooch at home for even a few minutes??

***Another power grab by Barack Obama. This time it's the oceans. Hurry up, November!

***Another double standard. What a surprise. Wish I had a Target nearby, I'd head straight there and do all my shopping.

***Do NOT join SwipeBids.com. I followed an ad link and thought, hey, this looks legitimate and there are some great deals here. I proceeded to sign up and register my debit card, thinking I was just registering in case I won an auction. But, lo and behold, AFTER they got my information they informed me that I had just paid a $150.00 membership fee. When I talked online to their customer service department, she said it was clearly stated on the sign up page, which it most certainly is not. She said their lawyers had determined that what they are doing is legal, which of course is a red flag. I immediately went to my bank and asked them to reverse that charge. I had to close that card and get another one, since SwipeBids had my information. They were able to get the charge reversed since I immediately requested it, but what a pain! Caveat emptor. Here's a site with the lowdown on SwipeBids.

***Our president is totally in the pocket of Big Labor. Check this out.

Becker is the left-wing lawyer Obama sneakily installed on the National Labor Relations Board. The U.S. Senate declined to confirm Becker’s nomination on a 52‒33 cloture vote in February. Obama responded by flipping senators the bird and ramming through his recess appointment during the congressional spring break. (The New York Times approvingly dubbed it a “muscular show of his executive authority.” When that authority was exercised by GOP president George W. Bush, of course, the Times editorial board called it a “constitutional gimmick.”)

Despite the White House’s much-heralded policy of binding every executive appointee to strict conflict-of-interest guidelines, a defiant Becker now remains free to rule on cases involving his former Big Labor bosses. And the most ethical administration in U.S. history isn’t doing a thing to stop him.
Ethics is a foreign word to this man and his entire administration.

***Um, yeah.

While our economy is enormously complicated, it seems reasonably clear that the current slump has turned into the "worst downturn since the Great Depression" precisely because of the ill-advised policies of the Obama administration. Those policies contradict the lessons of history, and there is no reason why their failure should be unexpected.

***Bad poetry day. This web site invited readers to share their worst adolescent poetry. Yep, some of 'em are pretty bad...

***Nancy Pelosi's trying to back off of her comments that those who oppose the mosque should be "looked into." Ever notice how often these people have to do that? They accidentally say what they really think, then they have to scramble to repair the damage. No wonder they're about to get their rear-ends handed to them.

***Meanwhile, as the 9-11 Mosque controversy rages on, a Federal Appeals court judge rules that crosses commemorating the deaths of fallen state Highway Patrol troopers "favor Christianity" and therefore cannot be allowed. Anyone else seeing the disconnect here? Those Muslims have a right to their religious freedom! (As if they have nowhere else to worship than the site of the murder of 3000 people). Those Christians, however, need to sit down and shut up.

What a Day!

***Gonna be a busy one! I didn't set my alarm because I've been so run-down this week, and I slept until almost 7:00. Yikes. I'm taking my mom yard saling, then I have to clean and type, type and clean for the rest of the day, because Emily & Peter are coming over tomorrow & we're having family over to see 'em. I'm the official grill chef, & I gotta hit the store, too. Can't wait, though, it'll be fun! I hope it's nice so we can play corn hole.

***President Obama supports the mosque at Ground Zero. Well of course he does. I never had any doubt, even when he was too much of a wimp to admit it. He's still a wimp, by the way.

***How to beautify your bathtub. Boy, could we use this! This picture actually looks *better* than ours...

***We are fast becoming a nation of freeloaders, and unfortunately, that's just how the Democrats like it. When you take away a person's incentive to work, you also take away his dignity and his character. When they become dependent on the government for their daily bread, they will vote for the politicians who promise to keep it coming. That would be the Democrats, and that is where they get their power. It's simple, really. Keep people down, blame the Republicans, and promise more handouts. That's the liberal way.

***Roller skates with engines. No thanks. I'd rather have an Escalade!

***Well, I was a federal worker (Postal Service), but that's a little different since the PO is not taxpayer funded. It's true, though, that you practically have to commit a felony to get fired once you're employed. The unions seem to exist mainly to keep bad employees employed. Check this chart out over at Rush's site...federal employees are the only ones not hurtin' in this economy. Love this quote:

"If you work for government, you don't get paid until somebody in the private sector performs a service and is taxed for doing it."

Another Day, Another Dollar

***Lots to do today, as usual. I think I need another vacation! Perhaps here...

Yeah, that would do it!

***Check out Ricochet. It's a fun conversation site. Wish I had time to participate more, but it's fun to read whenever I can.

***Paul Krugman is totally clueless. Even though socialism fails every time it's tried, he still thinks higher taxes is the way to right America's wrongs. No matter that the Reagan tax cuts and the Bush tax cuts resulted in a strong economy (regardless of what the press told you), he longs for the Carter years. What a doofus.

***Effective home schooling. Get your kids out of government schools if you can!

***Of course they can't provide any credible manmade global warming data - it doesn't exist. It's just another ploy to raise taxes and exert more control over us.

One of Those Nights...

***I've been awake since 1:30 a.m. Woke up and that was it. I figured I might as well get up and get some work done rather than just lay there staring at the ceiling. Maybe in a little while I'll get sleepy enough to try again. I hate nights like this.

***Come hell or high water, the Democrats are going to spend as much as they can, as fast as they can, before they're ousted in November. This is just another example.

***The Cato Institute asks, "Has Congress Become Useless?" That's rhetorical, right?

***Check out this video of a tornado. Yikes.

***Ted Nugent has a great piece in the Washington Times. He hits it on the head. It is us.

Barack Hussein Obama did not sneak into power. An army of clueless, disconnected, ignorant Americans invited him to bring his Marxist, glaringly anti-American jihad into our lives.

Every numbskull who voted for this idiot had access to the same information we did. They knew, or could have known, but ignored the information. Or...believed in it, which is even scarier.

So let me get this straight: You claim your intentions were noble because you simply wanted to get your child a puppy but somehow didn't notice that it was foaming at the mouth, and now you're shocked that your child has rabies? I think not. That is not a mistake. It is negligence -- dangerous, life threatening and, I am convinced, downright criminal negligence.

Right again. When you elect a Marxist, don't expect him to get into office and turn into a statesman. It ain't gonna happen. Obviously.

***There are SO many books I want to read. Like this one, and this one, and this one, and, well, you get the point. It'll take a while to get to them, but eventually I will!

Sing, Sing, Sing!

***I'm on the worship team this morning AND I'm doing a solo. I get so nervous before I sing by myself, yikes!

***A gathering of Norman Rockwell models. I love his work.

***Here's a timely article, "How to Find Cheaper College Textbooks."  I'm glad Wright State started the textbook rental program last year. Book fees are still expensive, but it sure helps when you can rent some of them.

***A jet powered school bus? Mind if I ask an obvious question...why?

***Okay, here's something even weirder - a poo-powered car.

***Wow, Tiger Woods is *really* sinking. It's sad, it was really enjoyable to watch him play at his best. Maybe he'll get his game back. I hope so.

***Woman finally convinces government she's alive....and these people want to run our health care system...

Family Reunion

***Yep, up early on a Saturday to cook my barbecued meatballs for a family reunion later today. Hope it's as nice a day as we had yesterday, it was perfect!

***This is kinda neat. "Best Modern Movie Dance Scenes."

***Yikes. 10 worst places to live.

***Here are some really good home office tips from FoxBusiness.

***Thank you, Minnesota, for sending this buffoon to the Senate.

***Just so you know - Democrats raise taxes every chance they get. And they've done it again.

***First of all, Arnold Schwarzenegger needs to remove the "R" from behind his name. He's no more a Republican than Nancy Pelosi. This whole gay marriage thing in California is a slap in the face to liberty and the Constitution. The PEOPLE voted against it, so the liberals are going to get their way through the courts - through unelected judges. That's the way they do things. The will of the people does not matter, it is only THEIR will that counts. God help us.

State Fair Band Day

***Today's the day the high school marching bands in Indiana compete at the State Fair. I'm gonna have to miss it again this year, darnit. Those kids work their tails off and they're really fun to watch. Good luck, Centerville!

***Top 10 Signs of Doom (for Democrats).

***Sad day. Elena Kagan confirmed. She's almost as unfit for the job and Barack Obama is for his.

***I can't believe they were even considering it:

The U.S. delegation will not offer an apology for dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki when it attends a ceremony in Japan on Friday marking the 65th anniversary of the attacks, which brought World War II to an end.

Apologize for defending ourselves? I don't think so, though I'm surprised Obama isn't all for it.

***This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. A Disney resort for pets.

***Solar light show. Cool! Check out these images.

***Sen. Claire McCaskill gives the typical liberal response to the Missouri vote on health care: They just don't know what's good for 'em!! (paraphrased).

***Imagine if a Republican First Lady was taking such a lavish vacation, without her entire family, during a recession when so many are suffering. It would be front page news, it would be outrageous, it would be unseemly, blah blah blah. But Lady Obama? No such headlines.

***Get with it, people. It doesn't matter what you think. Keep electing liberals, and you'll get more of the same.

Lights Out!

***Well actually, they're back on again. We were without power for a big part of the night. Good thing I'm a candle fiend!

***What's so bad about the JournoList? Let me count the ways...

***Unbelievable.Federal judge rules against gay marriage ban in California. The voters of California voted overwhelmingly for it. We are becoming less and less a nation where the government works for the people, and more and more a people ruled by government. Liberals cannot get what they want at the ballot box, they must win through the courts. That is not how this nation was founded.

***This is interesting. 10 biggest brand name disasters of 2010.

***More than the sum of our BMIs. I love this quote:

"It's too bad the fat police aren't as interested in the weight of the scientific evidence as they are in that of Americans."

Indeed. Don't confuse a liberal with facts. He's much more interested in using whatever means necessary to control every aspect of your life.

***Favregeddon? I'm not that interested in the Brett Favre story, but I love that headline.

***Here's another great headline at the Drudge report regarding Missouri's overwhelming vote against Obamacare: "Blow to O, Mo says No."

A Few False Starts

***Guess I'm a little tired this morning! I set my alarm for 3:00 so I could get lots of work done before going to work out at 6:00. I sat down in the recliner to close my eyes again for "just a few minutes," and opened them just before 6:00. Rats. Now I'm gonna be playing catchup all day.

***This decision on the mosque in New York at the 9-11 site is sickening. Talk about a slap in the face of America and the 9-11 families. This has nothing to do with "healing" or "reaching out." It has everything to do with a terrorist religion claiming victory.

***New low for O.

***Here are a couple of examples of where our "stimulus" money is going. I especially like the dance software idea. Not.

Gotta Share This...

***I don't know why this struck me so funny, but I forwarded it to several friends, and I rarely do that. My nephew sent me this in an email yesterday:

In Memoriam

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it
is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which
almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote
"The Hokey Pokey", died peacefully at age 93. The most traumatic part
for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg
in. And then the trouble started.

Heehee!!

***Well good. We have one judge in the country with some sense. Federal judge in Virginia refuses to dismiss constitutionality challenge to Obamacare.

***Here's an interesting article on the causes of obesity.

***Man, Chicago's going to the dogs. Now they've arrested a man for simply praying outside an abortion clinic.

***Small businesses join big fight. I think the Democrats expected everyone to just roll over and take what they're dishing out, but they're finding out differently.

***Pot. Kettle. Black.

***Obama taking credit for Bush's policies. No surprise there. What's interesting is that he's even using Bush's team in order to salvage his tattered Iraq policy. But...it'll be all about him, dontcha know.

ZZZZZzzzzzz.....

***Took me forever to get to sleep last night...so of course I turned off the alarm and didn't get up until 6:45! I can't remember the last time I slept that late. So much for my 6:00 a.m. workout - I'll take a walk or a bike ride a bit later.

***Amen to this

These Democratic talking points reflect the fundamental disconnect: It is not your money.

I think the American people understand that point. The government works for us, not the other way around.

You either believe it, or you don't. The Democratic Party doesn't.

***Amen, Sarah!

"Jan Brewer has the cojones that our president does not have," she said. "If our own president will not enforce our federal law, more power to Jan Brewer."

***The horrors of government medicine. This is what the Democrats have foisted on us.

***Of COURSE the liberals hate these courses being taught about the Constitution and our Founding Fathers. A dumb populace is their bread and butter, they can't afford for people to learn what a failure socialism really is.

***If you don't have time to read anything else, be sure and check out the Cato Institute's site. You'll be more informed than most of your co-workers if you spend 10 minutes here.

***Ahmadinejad wants a TV debate with Obama. After the obligatory Obama bow, of course. Boy, they're *really* scared of our Chosen One, aren't they?

***Here's Pete "Stark-Raving Mad" giving the Democrats' view of America in a nutshell. "The federal government can do almost anything in this country!"

Nothin' Special

***Gonna go to church this morning, work some this afternoon, work out sometime, and then go to Centerville's Marching Band ice cream social. I haven't seen their show yet, I'm looking forward to it.

***Whatever happened to the Constitution?

***Geez, am I glad Chelsea Clinton's wedding is over. I was sick of hearing about it.

***Shark tourism? No thanks. They're fascinating creatures - at a distance.

***Check it out.

Charles Krauthammer: "The only people who are going to buy it are going to be very rich people who are going to park it outside their townhouse for ostentatious show of how virtuous they are while they drive around in their Cadillac Escalade."

Yep...do as I say, not as I do. Do you *really* think these arrogant Democrats are going to drive around in a Volt? Come on.

***Getting along without getting a loan. Good advice from Focus on the Family.
