Memorial Day

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep,
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.

Speedeth all
To their rest.
Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day,
And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well;

Day has gone,
Night is on.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
'Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

***Don Surber in his latest column says, "We have now seen the president handle 4 crises. He failed each time." Ouch. Another excerpt:

Two years ago next week, he declared that history will mark his ascent to the presidency as the moment when ‘our planet began to heal’ and ‘the rise of the oceans began to slow.’ Well, when you anoint yourself King Canute, you mustn’t be surprised when your subjects expect you to command the tides.”
Really. Barack Obama said that.

Wow. To quote Rush Limbaugh...we were supposed to be getting a Messiah, and all we got was the Mess.

Race Day!

***Okay, I'm not much of a race fan, but I live in Indiana so I HAVE to mention the Indianapolis 500 race taking place today. I've been there twice and that's enough! It's quite an experience, so I'm glad I've been there, but man, what a crowd!

Last Day!

***Today's my last day at the Post Office. I had to give it up because of my home business, I don't have time to get called in to the PO. Most of the time it was just Saturdays, but the poor woman has to have some other time off, too, and I don't have time to give it to her. The PO has been good to me and it's been a great place to work.

***John McCain is certainly not my favorite politician, but he nails it in these comments.

***Corruption and stonewalling in the Sestak case. Yawn...more of the same with this administration. Imagine, just imagine, the wolfpack of reporters and what they would be doing to a Republican administration in this same situation.

***Peggy Noonan:

What is curious is that quite a few people did think that Obama would be an especially competent president. Why? What evidence was there that Obama would be a skillful administrator? Before becoming president, he had never in his life run anything more substantial than a Senate staff. His executive experience was closer to zero than that of any president in memory.
Being a good executive requires great skill. Moreover, it is not the sort of skill that anyone is born with. It takes experience to learn how to run things, to administer things, to manage things. And people. Obama has no such experience, and is therefore learning on the job. Before becoming president, he was best known for giving speeches that were often disconnected from reality. Why would anyone interpret this skill as the sign of a competent administrator?I don't know. All I can say is, no one should be surprised at the mess that is the Obama administration.

Kinda hard to argue with that.

Looking Forward...

*** the long weekend. I'll still have quite a bit of work to do, but at least I'll have an extra day to do it since everyone's closed on Monday. That'll be nice. We're having our first cookout Sunday, can't wait! It's amazing how much better a hamburger tastes when it's cooked on a grill.

Well, that's certainly typical. And stupid. 86% of all taxes are paid by the top 25% of wage earners in this country. But...don't confuse a liberal with facts.

Good Question

***Over at La Shawn Barber's blog, she asks an excellent question:

What sort of country cares more about the well-being of non-citizens who violate the law and less about taxpaying citizens trying to undo some of the damage caused by the federal government’s dereliction of duty?

Good question. The answer is, the sort of country with not-ready-for-the-job ideologue neophytes running it.

***Amen, Mark Steyn.

***Here's a place with some great information, the Entrepreneurship Resource Center.

***I have to agree with Ann Coulter (I do that a lot). Republicans are getting a little too "uppity" about our chances in November. I think we're going to win back a lot of seats, too, but with the current craze of estimating, and over-estimating in may cases, how many, just about anything is going to look like a setback. We need to back off a little on the victory chants and just work on making it happen. We can party AFTER it happens.

***Conservative wins Democrat seat in Hawaii special election. That's good news, but we have to keep campaigning because he has to run again in November for the full term, and there won't be two Democrats running against him splitting the liberal vote.

Thank your military.

Here We Go Again!

***Another week! We got some fantastic news...our daughter and her husband who live in South Carolina were planning to move closer, to Columbus, Ohio, in the spring of next year. Peter discovered that there is a possibility for him to transfer his job sooner - in August! We are so excited! We really miss them, and apparently they're homesick too!

***This really is unbelievable, and infuriating. Is there no end to this administration's apologizing for America? Do they ever say anything positive about their own country? Where in the world did Obama get the mantle of "hope and change?" I've never, ever heard anything positive or hopeful come out of his mouth, nor the mouths of any of the doofuses he has put in charge of American policy.

Workin' Weekend

***There's not much leisure in my future this weekend! Lots of typing and "other stuff" need to be done this weekend. It's supposed to be gorgeous out, though, so I will definitely take time for a walk and/or bike ride each day.

***Chutzpah. Barack Obama gives new meaning to the word. Well no...he *is* the meaning of the word.

***This columnist asks, "Can Tiger Woods get some love?" Isn't that what got him into this mess?

***This is scary, and unfortunately getting very little media play - not that that's a surprise. Check this out:

"Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional."

Know who said that? Donald Berwick, Obama's nominee to head up the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, which of course will be vastly expanded under Obamacare. A full-fledged Marxist. Does that really surprise anybody?

***If you've never read the DUmmie FUnnies over at Free Republic, you need to check it out sometime. It's a thread where the writer picks a thread at the far left, nutzoid Democrat Underground, and inserts comments illustrating the absurdity of what they're saying.  This thread, in particular, is hilarious. Does Obama's spending us into oblivion upset them? No. How about his dismal foreign policy? Nope, they're fine with that. His lying and duplicity? No, that's okay. But do not, I repeat, DO NOT, mess with their pot.

Pooped Out

***Think I'm gonna skip my workout this morning. My whole body is just pooped! Been a heck of a busy week.

***This is interesting. I switch between higher weights/lower reps and lower weights/higher reps. One day at the gym I might put 30 to 40 pounds on the chest press and do 3 sets of 15, the next time I'll put 50 pounds on it and do 3 sets of 10-12 reps. According to this article, and this one, I should be lifting more. Guess I'll try that! I had read that you should "switch up" your routines to keep your workouts fresh and more effective, but apparently I need to be working a little harder.

Happy Mother's Day!

***Proverbs 31:10-31 (King James Version)

10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Don't Forget Mom!

***Okay, I'm reminding you again. Do something special for your Mom!

***This is so sad, and does not bode well for the future of our country. The percentage of unmarried mothers has jumped to 41%. Kids need a mom and a dad, pure and simple. There are many studies, including this one, which prove what common sense should tell us. Children thrive when they live at home with mom and dad. Sure there are exceptions, but God's plan for the family is what we should strive for.

***That describes the weather in Indiana for the past couple of days. Too bad I've been stuck at my computer for a lot of the time, but I have taken the time for some walks and bike rides. Can't let all that sunshine go to waste!

***Isn't it funny how the MSM can't bring itself to say "Muslim" or "terrorist," unless the latter is attributed to someone with a conservative bent?

***One could make the case that the Democrats are glad the oil spill in the gulf happened. Now they have an excuse to oppose further drilling. Nothing like a good crisis to show their true colors!

***This is an awesome web site! It's called BOND, for "Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny." Okay, that's a mouthful. I love this guy...his tag line is "Rebulding the Family by Rebuilding the Man." Check it out, this guy is great!

***I find this hard to believe. This guy claims to have lived for 70 years without food or water. Nahhh...

***Good riddance. Another one bites the dust. I think they see the handwriting on the wall.

***Okay, somebody needs to take Iran's nuclear reactors out, along with their tacky little dictator. Obama certainly doesn't have the stomach for it, so go get 'em, Israel!

***Nostalgia sells. What a great idea for a fun business! Don't give up hope, it's entrepreneurs who will bring back America's economy. Not the government, not bureaucracy, not socialism. It will be Americans with a dream that will pull us back from the brink. Oh, and a massive throwing out of Democrats in November. That'll help, too.

***Up at 3:00 a.m. to work again as I have to work all morning at the Post Office again. I'm seriously thinking about giving that up. I can't afford to get behind on my transcription clients.

***Dumb statement of the week:

“We're tough on terrorists. That’s our policy. That’s our performance. And, in fact, we've been more successful,” Hoyer said at his weekly press availability.
Do I really need to comment...?

***Wow. With dimwits like Contessa Brewer, no wonder MSNBC's ratings are in the tank.

***Neat...check out this new military boat, the Stiletto.

***Great question. If liberals are so upset about Arizona's immigration law, which simply requires proof that a citizen is here legally, why are they so fired up and in favor of a national ID card?

***"Guess what? Faizal Shahzad is a registered Democrat. I wonder if this SUV had an Obama sticker on it." ~~ Rush Limbaugh. Indeed. If this guy had been a Republican or had ever said anything remotely connecting him to anything conservative, the media would be ALL OVER IT. As it is...hear the crickets? Now he's just a poor guy from Connecticut who was foreclosed on.

Make This Quick!

***Good morning! (or afternoon, as the case may be). This is gonna be "one of those days" that doesn't have enough hours in it. I have to work all morning at the Post Office, but I've got a full day's worth of work to do here at home. do you do that?

***Here is a copy of Obama's guidebook. Read a little and see if you don't agree.

***Obama's Katrina? Fat chance. Even if the MSM gives some cursory criticism (you know, to prove how objective they are), there will be *nothing* like the tsunami of distortion and outright lies that was the coverage of Katrina and the blaming of Bush. Not even close.

***Obama is in a classless by himself.

***Of course there's nothing unfair about being ID'd. This is just another case of the Left using a bad situation to their advantage. Except this time I don't think it will work. Too many people are fed up with the U.S. Government's all talk and no action approach to illegal immigration.  Arizona's law is just plain common sense, something that is in very short supply in Washington right now.

***Letter from an entrepreneur. He's absolutely right. Unfortunately, most of the people making these rules have never had to run a business...heck, most of them have probably never held a real *job*. There are too many career politicians in Washington who have no idea what it's like to try and make it in the real world. Barack Obama is the biggest, most grotesque example. I'd love to see him have to work in a Dollar General for a couple of weeks. He'd never make it.

***Check out this Mallard Fillmore cartoon! The first one with Bill Clinton is awesome.

***Whoa. I was doing some surfing around and found this web site. This is the perfect example of a site that is too busy!

***Speaking of busy...I better get that way!

Gettin' Closer...

***Hey, I can officially say we get to go see my daughter and her husband next month! I am SO looking forward to that!

***This is not a bad idea. I used to think it was a little paranoid to keep bottled/distilled water in the garage for emergencies, but really, it makes sense. It doesn't cost that much and if something happened here like is happening in Boston, it sure would come in handy. I plan to pick up a gallon of distilled water whenever I go to the store from now on, and store it in the garage.

***I've always disagreed with the idea that sometimes it's a good idea to lose. Yeah, how's that workin' out for us? In this article, there's a link to an article that surmises that it would be better for the Republicans NOT to win any majorities in November, thereby being able to blame all the bad stuff on the Democrats. Bah. We have to do what's best for the COUNTRY, not the party (though in this case that seems to go hand in hand). We have to get as many conservatives elected as possible in order to start turning back some of the damage being done by Obama and his Leftist minions. We can't wait and hope that we can blame even MORE bad stuff on them. Their true colors are already showing.

***Here's my next book purchase. Laura Bush is a classy lady and did our country proud as First Lady.

***Here's a look into the black hole that is the mind of a leftist.

***Bill Maher has always been an idiot, but I think he has overdosed on stupid pills lately.

***Five best snacks for energy.

***Ted Nugent is awesome. Well, I was never a big fan of his music, but his political views are right on!

***That's Indiana right now. S'okay, I reckon we need it. I love to listen to the rain at night.

***Jim Sondergeld over at Hard Starboard has some great posts up. Okay, I have a couple up, but Jim is a great writer and very entertaining to read. He has some good information on the blog right now, check it out!

***Must reading on government power grabbing. Internet commerce has flourished even during this recession, so of course the liberals have to try to ruin it.

***Dang, I hate to see Harrison Ford turn out to be such a jerk. He's an awesome actor. Like one of the commenters said (paraphrased) - don't own 7 planes and then preach to me about my SUV. This "going green" stuff really irritates me, as do the Hollywood hypocrites pushing it.

***Top 10 Dumbest Things Said About the Arizona Immigration Law. Don't forget to take note of who's saying them.

***Street Sense wins Kentucky Derby.

***Here are some great resources from The Heritage Foundation.

***I love to look at these - the Before and After gallery at These are before and after pictures of people who have had weight loss surgery. What a difference! Some of them are really striking.

***Small business success! Shhh...don't let the feds find out...

Stormy Weather!

**We're having a doozy of an electrical storm here in Indiana. Glad I have surge suppressors! I still unplug my computer during a bad storm, though. No sense taking chances.

***Here are some great tips on becoming a great blogger. I think I'll read this one a few times...

***This is a great post by Michelle Malkin. A rather portly Tea Party basher says that chubby tea partiers need ObamaCare. Check out the pictures of some pro-ObamaCare folks, and decide for yourself if there's any hypocrisy going on here.

***Okay, sometimes even I'm speechless. Iran on a U.N. committee championing women's rights? Are you kidding me?

***Honestly, Joy Behar has got to be the dumbest woman on T.V. It's scary that she has an audience.

***Okay, this is just weird. A Chinese dude that eats light bulbs.

***Good news. Prostate cancer drug approved. Once Obama gets hold of health care, though, research and development are going to take a hit, and we won't see headlines like this. Mark my words.

***Decisions become easier when your will to please God outweighs your will to please the world.  ~Anso Coetzer
