Happy Halloween!

***I got up early to make a big pot of chili. We're having family over for dinner, then to watch the trick or treaters. We live in a cul-de-sac, so we don't get a huge number, but we get enough to make it fun! Mark always wants to make sure I buy "enough" candy...which means too much so there'll be a lot left over!

***Now THIS is scary.

***Ya think?

***I agree with this blogger regarding Halloween. I would never let my kids dress up as anything Satanic or morbid, but I have never seen any harm in allowing them to dress up as something fun, like a hobo or a princess, and go out and have a great time on Halloween. We have some great memories of trick or treating with them.

What a Frday!

***Gonna be a busy one. I have to get my work done early this morning, because I have to work at the Post Office from 9:00-5:00. Sheesh. Glad it's pizza night at the Crawfords!

***If it's close, they'll cheat.

***Wow. Lots of "wisdom" from this guy. Methinks he snorted one too many times.

***Awwww...check out these cute Halloween costumes.

Here We Go Again!

***Another day, another...bunch of work! I'll be taking a break later to drive mom around on her Meals-on-Wheels route, then back at it.

***Check out this catalog! It's Southwest Indian Foundation, and they really have some of the most beautiful stuff! If you like southwestern decor, clothing, etc., you'll love this.

***And the hits just keep on comin'...

***So much for global warming.

This 'n That, Hither and Yon

***Lots to do today, as usual. Looking forward to taking a break and having a nice lunch with my cousin, sister, and mom later. Funny how, though family is always important, the older we get the more important it seems to become!

***Maybe he does have a little principle left. It's hard to have a lot of respect for Joe Lieberman, but once in a while he says something right. He kept threatening to stop caucusing with the Democrats over the War on Terror, but stayed with them all the while they were doing their best to make sure we lost. Now? Can't trust him.

***Check out this funny dog video. I laughed until I cried!

***From the funny to the bizarre.

***I strongly recommend this site for really good bargains on clothing. Since I'm still losing, I don't want to spend a lot on clothes. I found sweats and leggings, etc. for $10.00 at the Gap, and they are of really good quality. Check it out!

Up & At 'Em!

***Well, it's a little later than it oughta be for me getting started. I was a dummy and drank a big mug of coffee before I went to bed. Normally caffeine doesn't bother me too much, but it took me a while to get to sleep. Reckon I won't do that again!

***Here's a great way to support our soldiers! Here's how I do it. I love to send stuff, so adopting a soldier is a perfect fit for me. There are lots of ways you can honor those who protect our freedom. Find one you like and do it!

***Okay...back from work and running some errands with my mom. I just ran out of time this morning! Seems to happen to me a LOT. Now I'm trying to get motivated to get some transcription done. Really doesn't matter whether I'm motivated or has to be done!

***I wore my new long-sleeved postal T-shirt from Modern Process Company today. Love it!

What a Day!

***Gotta work all day at the Post Office today...boy, I got used to not doing that. Glad I don't have to do it very often. I'm too busy for a job!

***No surprise here.

***Send our troops some love this Christmas!

***Can you believe it's almost November??!! My goodness, where did this year go? It's certainly been an eventful one for our family, with my daughter graduating college getting engaged, the wedding, them moving to South Carolina, my retirement, etc. etc. etc. I'm not ready to see the Christmas trees popping up in the stores, but they're there in many of them. I like to enjoy fall first, it's my favorite time of year, especially the decorations, and, of course, the lovely weather we usually have in Indiana in the fall. It hasn't been quite as nice this year, but we have had some beautiful days. Oh well, I love Christmas too, I just ain't ready for it yet.

Glorious Fall!

***Boy, we're having awesome weather in Indiana right now. Wish this could continue until spring!

***Our Whiner-in-Chief is at it again...

***Who said this?

"Generally speaking, we get the joke. We know that the free market is nonsense. We know that the whole point is to game the system ... we know that this is largely about power. That this is an adults only, no limit game. We kind of agree with Mao that political power comes largely from the barrel of a gun. And we get it that if you want a friend you should get a dog."

Give up? Barack Obama's manufacturing czar, Ron Bloom. MANUFACTURING CZAR. Manufacturing is part of the private sector, and this clown thinks the free market is a joke. This is the type of person Obama surrounds himself with. Time to wake up, America.

***I type that about every day, don't I? It's true, I have a very busy life. Most times that's good, but it does get a bit tiresome sometimes.

***You wonder where the heck the 34% have been for the last few years...

***You won't hear much about this, but it doesn't surprise me. They hate Fox News because it dares to air stories that might be critical of this administration. Truth doesn't matter. Spin does, to these people. It's really unseemly for a sitting president to attack Americans like this one does. The Chamber of Commerce, insurance companies, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh...aren't there more important things in the world to be concerned about?

What a Day!

***Well, it's Monday and my schedule is, like, *really* full. I have to work all day at the Post Office, so I'm up at 3:00 a.m. in order to get my transcription done. I won't get it all done, of course, but I'll get a good start on it, anyway. I'm not terribly happy about going back to the Post Office after retirement, just covering myself in case something happens with my business. "Be Prepared" as the Boy Scouts say.

Sunday Mornin'

***Good morning! Looks like we're gonna have some sunshine today in Indiana. We usually have a glorious fall here, but it hasn't happened yet. Wet, cold, and rainy so far. Supposed to be a nice week coming up, though. I plan to use my fire pit if it is! Tried to use it last night, but the wood was still too wet from all the rain we've had. Yeah, I know, I need to cover it. I cooked out some big T-bones for my son and husband, though, and they were awesome, if I do say so myself!

***Of course it's racist. There are no bigger racists than Sharpton and Jackson.

***This is just the weirdest story. My gut reaction is that these parents were looking to make big bucks and maybe score a reality TV show.

***But...this was such a tragedy when Bush was president! Why, according to the pundits, the deficit was going to destroy this country! Now, with their Anointed One in office, it's no big deal. And they claim to be objective...

***This is interesting. It's Money magazine's compilation of the 10 best jobs in America.

***Johnny's home! Came in last night for pizza. We have a tradition of ordering pizza every Friday night, we've done that since the kids were in elementary school. At first it was pizza and game night, then it became pizza and movie night. Sometimes it's just pizza and talking night. But there's always pizza involved! Pizza King is my favorite, so when it's my turn to pick, that's always the place! John usually picks Papa John's, and Mark likes Domino's.

***Ann Coulter is right.

***Check out this video. It'll bring tears to your eyes and a lump to your throat.

***Casting Crowns is becoming my favorite contemporary Christian group. Great music and great lyrics! Very theologically sound, which is sometimes missing from CCM. It also helps that they sing in a great key for me, and I can sing their songs in my church!

I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands

You never left my side

Lots to Do!

***Yep, after working at the Post Office all day yesterday, I've got some catchin' up to do. I'll be taking a break about 9:00 to take my mom to the doctor for her one week wound check, but other than that I'll be chained to my trust computer.

***Is there no end to Obama's cluelessness?

***This is getting scary. Where did America go?

***Amazing. We're fighting on multiple fronts overseas, and the liberals in this country find the time to wage war on the Boy Scouts.

***I'm a coffee lover. Okay, let me clarify. I'm a flavored coffee lover...think Starbuck's, Bear Creek Coffee, etc. Here are some interesting articles regarding making great coffee at home, something I'm trying to do to save some of the dollars I'm spending on coffee! Love the stuff. They make a "Dieter's Dream" at the Starbuck's inside Reid Hospital here in Richmond, and it's to die for! They make it with sugar free vanilla and sugar free mocha syrup, but it sure doesn't taste sugar free.

***This is neat. I'll never run a marathon, because I hate to run, but I admire the work these people put in who do it. So much training! I wouldn't have the time, in the first place, but I think it would be a great thing to do if you love to run. Just entering and finishing would be quite an accomplishment.

***When we go to Charleston to see Emily & Peter next month, Charleston Grill is where I want to eat! We get Charleston Magazine, since that's where Emily's internship was, and they review all the things to do in and around Charleston. They have featured the Charleston Grill a couple of times, and it just sounds like a great place. Can't wait to take them there!

***Better get busy. Have a great day!

***I have to work ALL DAY at the Post Office today. I'm not at all sure about this going back part-time thing. I really got used to not doing that! I've been retired since July 31, and I'm likin' it. I'm just keeping my options open, you know, a few hours a week. You never know what will happen in business, especially with the boobs in this administration. I knew I would have to work all day once in a while, but I don't have to like it!

Busy Day!

***Gotta work at the Post Office today, then come home and work on my transcription. I got up a little after 3:00 this morning to get started...lots to do! It never ends, but that's a good thing!

***Amen! If only they'd listen.

***Did a Curves workout yesterday. It was really a pretty good workout, there's more resistance with those machines than I thought there would be. I need to find a place where I can work out this winter, and this circuit only takes 30 minutes. I'll either join Curves or the local Wellness Center...which is nice, but their hours of access aren't as good.

***Doesn't it seem a bit unseemly that the White House is attacking a news organization for...reporting the news? I guess the truth hurts.

***I think Sarah Palin should just challenge Obama to a showdown in one of those extreme fighting cages in 2012. It would be a lot easier and less painful (to the rest of us) than a dirty campaign. Plus, I have no doubt she'd kick our pantywaist President's butt to Alaska and back.

Back to (Almost) Normal

***Well, as normal as things get around here. I'll still be going to my mother's house to drive her around to where she needs to go, she can't drive for a couple of weeks. schedule should get somewhat back to what I'm used to. I'm just thankful she's okay!

***How can this be? Aren't they the ones who were complaining about lobbyists? How they were going to "clean up" Congress? Hypocrites!

***The Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekker is an awesome book. Well, let me clarify. I've read Black and I'm almost finished with Red, and White is next. This book has them all in the same book. It's one of those can't-put-it-down allegories, in the spirit of The Chronicles of Narnia, but much darker and more suspenseful. I can't wait to see what happens!

Late Update!

***Good afternoon! I've been with my mom, helping her since she's been home from the hospital after her pacemaker placement. She's getting better every day, and doesn't think she needs someone to stay with her tonight. We're probably hovering a little too much, but hey, she's 83. It's our turn to take care of HER!

Miss Them!

***I had a real "missing my kids" day yesterday. I always miss them when they're not around, but lately I've had a really hard time with it. Emily's in South Carolina and I haven't seen her since early September, and my son is at Wright State University in Dayton. Not that far away, but I still don't get to see him very much. Just part of being a parent, I guess.

***Yep, it's ridiculous. But not surprising. The Nobel Peace Prize hasn't meant anything since they awarded it to Yasser Arafat. Since then there has been a long line of doofus winners. Jimmy Carter? Al Gore? Gimme a break. Barack Obama's foreign policy has been disastrous, but he tells Europeans what they want to hear. He apologizes for America wherever he goes. The worst part is, his already inflated ego just got another boost. I really do think he believes all the stuff his Obamabots say about him. What a travesty.

***I start back at the Post Office today! Part-time, only five hours per week. I'm not sure if I'm making the right move or not, but I decided to accept it because you just never know what's going to happen with your own business. It's still going great, but with the present administration, nothing is for sure. Never hurts to have a backup.

***Speaking of which, better go get ready. Have a great Saturday!

She Did Great!

***Mom did great yesterday when she got her pacemaker, I'm going to go pick her up and take her home this morning. Thanks for the prayers!

***Honestly, stuff like this can just ruin your day. We have a tax cheat as the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee...the committee that writes tax laws. How stupid is that?

Same Ol' Same Ol'...

***Yep, planted in front of my computer again today. I'll be at the hospital with my mother for the next couple of days, so I'm trying to get as much done as I can. She got her wires crossed Monday...that visit was a pre-op visit. Tomorrow is when she actually gets the pacemaker. Keep prayin'!

***You don't say!! Most of us knew Obama wasn't ready for the presidency long before he ever got it. Unfortunately, too many chose to ignore his obvious character and experience deficits and voted for him anyway. A significant number voted for him based on the color of his skin. How is that any less racist than voting against him for the same reason?

***This is why we paid tuition to send our kids to a Christian school.

***Honestly, why do people care so much about stuff like this? I never watch "reality" shows, I've read enough about them to see that they're a tremendous waste of time. It's amazing to me that so many think they're "real" anyway. No one is "real" when there's a camera on them. Just my two cents. Moving on...

***I've started menopause! Yes, I know that's probably more information than you need, but there it is. My main symptom right now is the hot flashes, and they ain't pretty.

Late Start

*** It's 6:17 a.m. and I'm just getting started! Sheesh, half the day's gone. Just couldn't get it together this morning, for some reason.

If you want to obsess and waste your money and time on "green" stuff and make yourself feel all warm and fuzzy, fine. But don't berate the rest of us who are of the opinion that none of it amounts to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things. You mind your business, and I'll mind mine. And I'll drink my bottled water and throw the bottle in the trash without a second thought, too.

Say a Prayer...

***My mom goes in for a pacemaker today. Remember her in your prayers, please!

***This is interesting. Seems like all we hear is how whatever it is we're eating or drinking is gonna kill us. This article is by a nutritionist regarding high fructose corn syrup and how it's not the Devil as we have heard for so long. Sure, too much of anything sweet is not good for you, but it turns out high fructose corn syrup is no worse than table sugar. Who knew?

***I agree. Our pastor went to Communist China last year and was able to speak freely about God in their classrooms. It can be done in CHINA but not here? Does anybody else see something wrong with that picture?!

***Well, we're getting a lot of change, all right...not much hope, but plenty of change.

***I liked the first three seasons of House, M.D. I never have time to watch T.V., I don't see the episodes until they come out on DVD and I can just watch them when I have time. I just watched season 5. I didn't really care for season 4 because I don't like the new characters, especially 13, but some of season 5's episodes are just disgusting. I bought the first four seasons, but I won't be buying season 5. The show was always morally deficient, but I could still enjoy it because of the humor and the interesting side stories they included. However, there are some episodes in this last season that are just sickening. That coupled with the fact that the new characters are not nearly as likeable or interesting as the old ones has pretty much ruined the show for me. Hugh Laurie is a great actor, but there's only so much he can hold up.

Sunday Mornin'

***Good morning! I'm up and at 'em early, as usual. I don't think I'll ever catch up! Good problem to have in business, but still a bit stressful.

***This is my next book purchase. Tony Dungy's "Uncommon: Finding Your Path to Significance." I know I'm a little behind in getting it, but I've got a long line of books to get to. I read before I go to bed, and sometimes I poop out after just a few pages. Other times, I can't stop and continue to read when I should be sleeping! Anyway, I've wanted to read this for a long time, so I think I'll read it after I finish "My Grandfather's Son" by Clarence Thomas. I'm almost done with that one. I highly recommend it!

***Obama better find a backbone, and fast. Letting Iran go nuclear is just crazy irresponsible. Amazing that he thinks he can "reason" with terrorists.

***Okay, this is just creepy. "Williams, [Ted] the last player to hit over .400 in a season, died in 2002 at age 83 and had his remains sent to Alcor for cryogenic storage in the hope that future generations would develop the technology to revive him."

***This sounds promising. I hope it works!

***I've started to journal my food intake. I'm at a standstill with my weight loss, and it's very frustrating. I'd like to lose at least 20-30 more pounds, and they're stuck to me like glue! I'm happy with my 151 lbs. lost so far, but I'm not done! I want to make sure no extra calories are sneaking in and sabotaging me. So far I'm seeing that I'm staying around 1800 calories a day, which is acceptable. I'm in the early stages of menopause, so I guess that probably has something to do with it. Doesn't make it any less frustrating, though!

***This is beautiful!

***As usual! Weekends are supposed to be for relaxation, but that rarely seems to happen, right? At least in my little corner of the world. I have a lot of work to catch up, sheesh!

***Loved Drudge's headline yesterday after the news that Chicago had lost its bid for the 2016 Olympics in the first round: The Ego Has Landed.

***Do any of you use Twitter? I signed up for it, but I just don't have time to do it. There's an interesting article over at about how one guy started his business using Twitter and his blog. That's certainly something I never thought about. I know some businesses use Facebook and MySpace to get their names out there, so I guess it shouldn't be surprising. Hey, more power to 'em!

***It's raining like crazy this morning in Indiana. It's only 5:00 a.m., though, so by the time I go pick my mom up for a little flea marketing, it might be sunshine and 70! Ya never know what the weather's gonna do in Indiana, we're famous for that!

***"In the garden, Autumn is, indeed the crowning glory of the year, bringing us the fruition of months of thought and care and toil. And at no season, safe perhaps in Daffodil time, do we get such superb colour effects as from August to November." ~~Rose G. Kingsley

Here Comes the Sun!

***We've had a gloomy few days in Indiana lately, but the sun came out yesterday afternoon and it's supposed to peek a bit today. Thank goodness! Fall in Indiana is usually beautiful, I'm ready for a few more glorious fall days before the cold hits.

***Time for harvest! I love this time of year. The corn and beans are just about ready to harvest and the farmers will be out in force. Everywhere you look, you can see how blessed this country is with bounty and abundance.

***Abject stupidity.

***Great call to Rush Limbaugh's show yesterday, laying out what many of us are feeling. Frustration and outrage at what the government is up to. This is supposed to be a representative republic, and they're ignoring the obvious will of the people, AND ignoring the Constitution. I wish THIS were 2010 and we didn't have to put up with another year of this.

***Here are some great tips for staying optimistic in less than great times. I think one's attitude can go a long way towards getting through the tough times. If we wallow in self-doubt and worry, we'll never get anywhere. Like my son says, none of this is going to matter in eternity anyway. Kinda puts things in perspective, doesn't it?

***Geez, it's hard to believe it's October already! Where has the year gone? Time goes so fast any more, mostly because we're so busy, I think. I try to make sure I take breaks and go see my mother, spend time with family, know, the important stuff! Gotta make a living, but there's a lot more to life than that.

***Have a great day!
