Manic Monday

***I seem to remember a (bad) song with that title. Some of the words, though, hit home!

***Amen to this!

***Wow. Phillip Garrido is a monster. Hard to relate to how someone becomes that twisted.

***We gotta do something about Iran. And fast.

***SparkPeople is a neat site. I don't have a lot of time to play on the Internet, but this seems like it would be worthwhile. I need some motivation to get out and exercise, now that I'm not jumping up and down and waiting on customers at the Post Office, sorting mail, etc. I used to take walks on my 1 1/2 hour lunches, but now that I don't have that scheduled time to do it any more, I haven't been. I did walk yesterday and am determined to do so nearly every day from now on. We'll see how that goes!

***Interesting site if you're interested in dispensational theology.

Well, gotta get busy. Have a great day, all!

Insomnia

***I always get up early, but not usually *this* early. I woke up about 1:00 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. I figure I'll type for a while and then try again.

***Great article by Mark Steyn regarding the elephant in the room vis-a-vis all of this Kennedy worship. Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

***Great site to learn about how to support our troops and communicate your support for them. We need to do all we can to let them know how much we appreciate them.

***I can't believe the Halloween costumes and candy are out in the stores already. Mark my words, there'll be Christmast trees up at Elder-Beerman in a month.

***Have you ever seen the Blue Angels perform? It is breathtaking...the precision and skill it takes to maneuver those planes like that...wow.

***We used to go to Rising Sun, Indiana to visit my grandparents when I was little. I can barely remember it, but I do remember thinking it took forever to get there! When you're a kid, 90 miles is a loooong way! It was worth it, though, we always had a grand time at gramma and grampa's. Haven't been there in ages, and I'd love to take a weekend road trip there. It probably doesn't look anything like it did in those days!

***I've been reading about the Navajo Code Talkers from WWII lately, and it's fascinating. Check out this web page and read about them, it's really interesting.

***Have a terrific Sunday!

Downers

***Stupidity personified. People, we have some truly *dumb* people serving in the United States Congress. Patty Murray, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Diane Watson come to mind. There are many others. This type of race baiting is just sad.

***All aboard!!

***Have you tried Fuze? It's an awesome drink that has fruit juice, vitamins, etc. in it. It is *really* good, try it!

***I love this stuff. The Southwest Indian Foundation has some beautiful items in their catalog, much of it made by hand by Native Americans. I get their catalog and always see a ton of stuff I want.

***Great column by Ann Coulter regarding the lies Democrats are telling about nationalized health care.

***My sister, mother, and I are going yard saling this morning, then out for breakfast. I'm really looking forward to it! Not that I need more junk in my house, mind you...but I'll probably find some anyway. It's fun to spend time with my family, though, and I do love to go to yard sales. You just never know what treasures you might find!

***Hope you all have a great Saturday!

Not Again...

***Geez, wall-to-wall coverage idolizing and deifying a not-so-great person as if they were Mother Teresa, yet again. First Michael Jackson, now Ted Kennedy.

***Ya think?

***Read and absorb this. Scary stuff.

***On the lighter side...

***I won another client yesterday. You've heard of mixed blessings? The increase in income will be great, but along with that comes an increase in work. Funny how that happens.

***This site has the most beautiful, unusual clothes! I've bought from them several times, and they really are high quality and every bit as pretty as they look in the pictures.

***I absolutely love Chicago (the band). I think Color My World is about the prettiest song I've ever heard.

***Well, enough playin', time to start workin'. Have a great day!!

Saw This Coming...

***I knew they'd do this. The shameless on the left will politicize anything to get their way, even the death of a colleague.

***Great site if you like to send cards & stuff. You can design them and pay the postage and they will send them for you, or you can have them sent to your home so you can send them yourself. Lotsa fun!

***Lots of interesting opinions in the Washington Times' editorial section of their web site. Check it out.

***My mother had to have Holter monitor testing done recently. She has had a slow heartbeat and has had several tests to try to figure out why. It's really fascinating how the human body works. I watched them do her echocardiogram and it was so neat to watch how they get the different angles of the heart, to watch the valves open and close, etc.

***Truly stupid remark by Chris Matthews. But...we're used to that.

***Gotta get busy...have a great day today!

Stress!

***I'm not normally a stressed out type of person, but right now I'd have to say I'm there. I've gotten a bit behind with my work and it's bugging me, because it's such a time-sensitive profession. I spent a big chunk of yesterday with my mother as she had some testing done at the hospital and I went with her. She comes first, of course, but my doctor's offices only look at turnaround time. Gonna be a busy today!

***From Herman Cain:
"Liberals believe in bigger government, higher taxes and less freedom and personal responsibility. Conservatives believe in smaller government, lower taxes, more personal responsibility and more freedom."
Pretty much sums it up.

***R.I.P. Ted Kennedy. I agreed with none of his views, but he was a husband and father. Rest in peace.

***I am reading My Grandfather's Son by Clarence Thomas. It is a great book by a truly great man. Read it if you get the chance.

***I've started having hot flashes, and it's really irritating me! I'm 50, and I guess it's time, but I don't have to like it.

***Better get busy. Have a great day, everyone!

Addictions!!

***Have you noticed how addictive eBay is? If I have auctions up, I check them over and over all day, even if there's, like, 6 days left in the auction. Or if I'm bidding on something, same thing. I have to stop myself from searching for things I like, such as the china pattern I mentioned in yesterday's post. Enough already! I'm going to have to build a storage barn for all this stuff if I don't stop.

***My niece sent me a bunch of "Random Thoughts" that had a lot of funny stuff in it. One was, "I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeinganyone of importance the entire day. What a waste." I would add that if I leave the house "just for a second" looking really grubby...no makeup, shoddy clothes, hair a mess, I will ALWAYS see someone I know.

***Great web site - BoldBraveCourageous. The intro will send chills down your spine.

***Bread crumbs to the BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) sufferers in Obama's base. Never mind this. It is much more important to trash Bush than save lives in their minds. Pretty sad.

***Well, the local pool has been drained...I think that's a sure sign that summer's about over. Seems like it just started yesterday! I love the fall, though, so I'm looking forward to that. I love fall decorations; mums, shocks of corn, bales of straw, Indian corn, etc. Plus I love lighting a fire in our fire pit and roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. Lots to look forward to.

Have a great day, everyone! Pray for our soldiers.

Another Week O' Work!

***Life just gets busier and busier, doesn't it? Ah, but life is good.

***If you can make it, this would be an awesome event to attend. What a great lineup of speakers!

***Go sign it. Now.

***Do you get enough sleep? I try to get six hours...sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I get up at 2:00-3:00 a.m. to start work in my business, which is okay if I can get to bed by 8:00 or so. Again...sometimes I do, sometimes I don't!

***I love this china pattern! I happened to see one of the plates at a yard sale, and it brought back so many memories! My mom got these when I was a kid with green stamps, you remember those? You collected them when you bought stuff and stuck them in books, then you could buy stuff with the books. I remember these dishes so vividly, and when I saw a plate I bought it, and now I'm snatching them up wherever I can find them.

***Have a great day, everyone!

Gremlin!

***Geez, there's a gremlin in Blogger this morning! Hope I get this posted...

***They've got Click at a great price on Amazon right now, it's about $5.00 less with free shipping. Click is an awesome high protein, low sugar drink. Try it!

***Check out David Limbaugh's latest column. He explains why Obama has hit a brick wall. Most Americans love their freedom and Obama's trying to take a huge chunk of it away.

***Interesting article on transgenderism from a Christian perspective.

***Love these T-shirts!!

***I grew up with horses, used to show my Quarter Horse in 4-H. We went on trail rides, camping, showing, the works. What fun! I miss riding, but I married a city boy and went on to other things. I still love horses, though!

***"The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." -- Margaret Thatcher

***Have a great Sunday!

Got it!!

***Wow, it's nice having a fast computer again! Still getting everything set up the way I want it, but boy, what an improvement! Now my laptop's out of commission, needs a new screen, but at least I've got this one back. I'm certainly going to be breaking it in this weekend...

***We're taking my sweet, dear mother out for breakfast this morning for her birthday. She's 83! She's doing good, though, gets out and does things and enjoys herself. Happy Birthday, Mom! Hug your mom and appreciate her today.

***This is sickening. Imagine being a family member of one of the people this guy murdered...seeing him get a hero's welcome.

***This is a great site if you're a conservative. If you ain't, you won't like it much!

***Check out the Berean Bible Society home page. It's a really good resource for Grace believers (dispensationalists).

***"What is the big difference between Reagan and his recession and Obama and his recession? Very simple: Reagan was trying to end his." -- Rush Limbaugh

***Well, time to go check on my auctions at eBay and then try to get a little work done before getting ready to go pick my mom up. Have a great day, everyone!

Friday, August 21, 2009

Today...Really!!

***You guessed it, I'm supposed to get my new computer TODAY, for sure, honest, really! I can't believe I've gone two weeks without a PC. If you hear a big YIPPEE from the general direction of Indiana today, you'll know I FINALLY got it! I cleaned under my desk last night in preparation, it was *scary* under there. How on earth do all of those cables get so tangled up?? It's not like I'm under there plugging and unplugging all the time. I just know there's a little gremlin under there at night doing that on purpose.

***All what? ""There is something about August going into September where everybody in Washington gets all wee weed up!"

***Victor Davis Hanson is one of the best writers I've ever read. He gets right to the heart of whatever he's writing about and is always spot on with his facts. Check him out.

***Richard Jordan is a great dispensational preacher and an all-around good guy. He gives some great advice and interesting chats at his blog, http://www.gracelifer.blogspot.com.

***I love lasagna, but it sure is a lot of work! This recipe is no different, but boy does it look/sound good!

***"I am very doubtful whether history shows us one example of a man who, having stepped outside traditional morality and attained power, has used that power benevolently."
--From C.S. Lewis' The Abolition of Man. Pretty appropriate in our current times, don't you think?

***Have a great day!

Still Waiting...

***My computer wasn't ready yesterday...hopefully today! My forearms are cramping from doing so much typing on my little laptop. I'm thankful for it, but gee whiz! I'll sure appreciate my full size Natural Keyboard when I can use it again. If you type a lot, you should check it out. It really does help. I had carpal tunnel and was wearing a brace on my left forearm, but when I got the Natural Keyboard it stopped hurting after a while.

***Gotta love this nickname....check out this article in the UK Telegraph.

***Here are some interesting factoids about the approval numbers of recent presidents.

***Absolutely the best finger-style guitarist ever!! Okay, that's my humble opinion, but you should check him out.

***A PGA golfer from Richmond recently won his first title. Bo Van Pelt is followed avidly by our city, and there was quite an uproar around here when he won!

***My favorite verse.

***Have a great day, all!

Frustration!

***Sheesh! I had trouble getting into my Google account to blog this morning. Apparently I changed my password and didn't remember doing it. Duh.

***Ya don't say!

***Not so hot...

***Hard to believe the kids are back to school already. We never went back until after Labor Day. Oh well, times change.

***What I WANT is this...what I can afford is this...

***Here's a great magazine if you're into current events.

***Better get back at it...have a great day!

Rise 'n Shine!

***Back to getting up at 3:00 a.m....I thought after I retired from the Post Office that I'd sleep a *little* later, but that's proving not to be the case. I'm glad to have the work, mind you, but I'd love to have a little more sleep! Oh well, someday when my kids are rich and famous and taking care of me...

***This guy seems a little mixed up to me. I had a friend give me one of these pictures, but I threw it away. I mean, I don't like Obama and agree with virtually none of his views, but I do respect the office and I don't think stuff like that should be done with the image of any sitting president. That puts us in the same category as the idiots waving signs saying "BusHitler" and turning his picture into that of a vampire. This guy, though, doesn't like Obama, but likes Kucinich? He thinks Obama is doing better than Bush was? In what conceivable way?? His last statement is weird, too...saying it's immature to say Obama is a socialist. He is the very picture of socialism, why is it immature to state the truth?

***Absolutely the best banana pudding in the world...and easy!! I like easy...

***Okay, I've been playin' long enough, time to get busy! Have a great day!

Monday, August 17, 2009

It's Monday Again!

***I should be transcribing, but I gotta blog first! I think I need a 12 step program here...

***This is really irritating. Members of Congress should be expected to do their jobs and at least read what they're voting on, especially when they're trying to take over a huge chunk of the American economy. Honestly, we really have some jerks in leadership.

***Interesting stuff here, if you want to stay informed on the current goings-on in Washington.

***Great site for pretty pictures from around the country. Waterfalls, plains, flags, check it out!

***I look here if I need to find a Bible quotation and can't think of where it is. Hey, I'm 50, I forget things...

***Well, time to get to work. Have a wonderful day, all!

Sunday, August 16, 2009

Peaceful Sunday

***Well, it'll be peaceful until after church, then I'm gonna be workin' the rest of the day. I have an extra office next week, so it's gonna be a bear.

***Cool site if you love Broadway shows, as I do. I'm especially a fan of Broadway musicals. I think The Phantom of the Opera is my all-time favorite, but there are so many great ones to choose from!

***Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance is coming to Emens Auditorium in Muncie, Indiana. My daughter and I have gone to see it 3-4 times and of course have it on DVD, and never get tired of it. It is tremendously entertaining!

***My son will be heading back to Wright State University in a couple of weeks. It's been nice having him home over the summer, but I think he's ready to get back to it.

***Well, better get busy. Hope you all have a fantastic Sunday!

Nostalgia

***I think Ronald Reagan was the best president in my lifetime, quite possibly of all time. Here, he talks about socialized medicine with some chilling predictions and observations.

***About Face.

***In the very weird category...Hippo Eats Dwarf.

***Neat place to find quotations by anyone and about anything.

***My mother and I are going yard saling today! I just love to do that...sometimes you look for hours and only find junk, but sometimes you hit the jackpot! I found a box of 7-8 Fiestaware dishes at one and paid $5.00 for them, and got $30.00 for them on eBay. I'm starting to learn what to look for, and I'm having a ball!

***Great site if you're looking for inspiration from Great Americans.

***Have a great day, all!

Friday, August 14, 2009

Good Morning!

***I knew after I retired I still wouldn't have a life of leisure, but I think I'm working harder now than I was before! Part of that has to do with my computer crash, I'm scrambling to keep up until I can get my new one and all my templates and stuff back. He's waiting on a part, and will have it done as soon as he gets that. I hope it's soon!!!

***They don't understand the concept of liberty.

***It's sad to have stupid representatives in Congress. But we do.

***Interesting thought.

***This is fun...celebrities' real names.

***Awww...the world's smallest horse!

***Okay, enough messin' around. Time to get to work! Have a great day, all!

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Misinformation!

***It's amazing to me how little many people know about the health care plan being foisted upon us by our government. So many people just buy what the government is selling without looking into it. Check this out.

***Dishonesty.

***Like puppies?

***I can't believe it's the middle of August already. Fall will be here soon. I love fall, it's my favorite time of year, but I'm not ready for summer to be over yet! We have a few weeks left and fall is always beautiful in Indiana, so I'm not worried. I'm looking forward to lighting fires in our fire pit in the back yard and grilling out. We grill out a lot all summer and fall. Speaking of which, I need a new gas grill! Soon they'll all be on sale, and that's when I'll take the plunge.

***If you like social networking, this appears to be the place to learn about it! I don't have time to Facebook or Twitter, but apparently millions of people do!

***Better get busy...have a great day, all!

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

Hump Day

***Good morning! Not much to say today, I'm afraid. I have lots of work to do, as usual. Got up at 4:00 a.m. to get a jump on it...not sure who's getting jumped on, though!

***Here is Plugged In's review of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I still haven't gotten to the theater to see that.

***This is pathetic.

***Best blog on the Internet.

***Good point.

***Good readin' up above. Have a great day!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Still Pluggin' Away

***Yep, still don't have my new computer. I'm glad I have my laptop, but it certainly isn't as comfortable as using a full keyboard when typing all day. I know; gripe, gripe, gripe! I'm sure he'll be done with my new one soon...or else I'm going over there with a whip!

***This is our chief diplomat??

***Here is a good example of our once-kinda-close-to-objective-but-now-hopelessly-leftist American press. Take the time to compare what the pediatrician actually said to what the Washington Post chose to write. It ain't pretty, but unfortunately it's how most of the major media in this country operates.

***Love coffee? Here are some tips on making the perfect cup. I'm a bit of a coffee wimp, I'm afraid. I have to have milk and sugar in it...you know, get the coffee taste out of it! I love mocha coffee and other flavored coffees. I can't drink it black, bleh! I know that's how "real" coffee drinkers drink it, but I just can't do it!

***Speaking of which, this looks like an easy recipe for Cafe Mocha. Think I'll give it a try! I'm spending way too much money on Tim Horton's cafe mocha and McDonald's McCafe mocha. They're both delicious!

***Well, duty calls. Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Monday, August 10, 2009

Catchin' Up

***Actually, I don't think I'll ever catch up! Losing my PC Friday has really slowed me down. Thank God for my Dell Laptop, but I sure have had to do a lot of recreating and checking to make sure I'm not missing anything. Sheesh.

***Good question.

***Now this looks/sounds good! I think I'll try this the next time I have family over for dinner. Who doesn't like ribs??

***Here are some beautiful ideas if you're into sending flowers. I love to give - and get - flowers!

***My work is calling...hope you all have a beautiful day!

Sunday, August 9, 2009

Peaceful Sunday Morning

***Man, I slept a lot later than usual! Didn't wake up until 6:00. THAT is really late for me. I just have time to drink my Click and surf a little before I get ready for church. I'm singing this morning so I have to be there early to practice.

***Here, Ann Coulter blasts many of the wacky conspiracy theories that have arisen in recent years. Come on, people, really.

***If you're a fan of South Pacific, as I am, you'll love this history by Mark Steyn regarding the history behind the song, "I'm In Love With A Wonderful Guy." Check it out.

***Check out this video of a serious/giggling baby. It is hilarious!

***Well, better print out my words and practice a little before church. I know the words as well as I know my own name, but having the words up there with me is a nice little crutch! Have a great Sunday!

Saturday, August 8, 2009

Saturday!

***Boy, it feels weird not to be at work at the Post Office. Plenty to do here, though! I'm getting my new computer's spot ready. It's pretty scary under my desk, I think the dust bunnies are organizing.

***We're having company this evening, so I've been busy cleaning elsewhere, too. Too bad I'm not this anal about my house when company's NOT coming.

***I have discovered Arnold Bread sandwich thins. They're a great choice for bariatric patients or people who are dieting. 100 calories, whole grain, protein, and really good!

***Delusional.

***Lots to do, so I had better do it. Have a great day, everyone!

Friday, August 7, 2009

TGIF!!!

***I can finally say it! Now that I'm retired and not working on Saturday...boy, what a feeling! A weird one, to be sure, but a good one!

***Arrogance personified.

***Good luck to all the bands today at Indiana State Fair Band Day!

***One of my favorite musicians is Steven Curtis Chapman. He writes and performs amazing music. Check him out.

***Here's a great link to organizations that support our military heroes.

***Lotsa work to do, better get at it. Have a great day, all!

Thursday, August 6, 2009

Crash!

***Well, it was bound to happen. I've had the same computer for about 10 years, I've just upgraded and had my computer guru tweak it, but it's had its last tweak, I think. It crashed last night, won't even turn on now. Thank goodness for my laptop! It's gonna take a little time to get everything transferred and up and running on it from all my doctors, but at least I have it and can keep working. I should have listened to Rush and got Carbonite!

***Here's something interesting that you're not hearing much about.

***Here's my next book purchase.

***Gonna have to check this out. Grilled barbecued ribs, how good would THAT be??

***Check out The Glory of Grace at graceimpact.org. Great reading and teaching!

***Well, lots of work awaits. Have a great Thursday!

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

Home, Sweet Home

***Well, we had a great time, but it's good to be home. I'm working on a mountain of wet, sandy laundry, but it was worth it!

***I have taken a vacation also from current events, so now I have quite a bit of reading to catch up on as well as work. It's going to be a busy week!

***One of our experiences on the trip was fine dining. We ate at a really nice restaurant one evening, you know, the kind where there are no prices, you can't really understand what the heck you're ordering, and...the prices and the titles of the dishes are huge, but the portions are really small! We ordered pizza later in the room! It was fun, though. I had Beef Satay skewers. It was...interesting.

***I think I'm gonna be sick... Not because of the skewers...

***Well, to work. Have a great day, everyone!

Monday, August 3, 2009

Great Trip!

***Well, our time in South Carolina is about over, and we have had a simply wonderful time. It's a beautiful state, and of course we have treasured every moment with our daughter and her new husband.

***It'll be back to the grindstone as usual on Wednesday! I've gotten a bit behind with my clients, though I brought my laptop and have been working here whenever I can. I should be able to catch up by the end of the week. Kinda weird not to have to go to the Post Office.

***Better wrap this up and get ready to take our crew out for dinner. Have a great evening!

Sunday, August 2, 2009

Beautiful South Carolina!

***Well, the ocean is everything I thought it would be. WOW! All I have to do is look out the patio door of our room and there it is! I look through three palm trees, which I've never seen before until now either, and I see the beach and the crashing waves of the ocean. How beautiful! I plan to spend a lot of time today playing in it. My daughter has some things planned for us today, but I sure want to spend some quality time on the beach.

***The trip down was about 13 hours with stops, and it was really not bad at all. Very pretty trip in most parts. My turn at driving included the twists and turns and ups and downs of the mountains, my goodness how beautiful! I had to struggle to keep my eyes on the road, it was too easy to gawk at the views instead of watch what I was doing.

***Thank the Lord, we got here safe and sound with only a little traffic slowdown for about 20 minutes due to an accident.

***We're going to an aquarium today, so I'll be sure and report on that. We walked down the street near here last night where there are lots of shops and stuff and had the best pizza I've ever eaten! Can't eat much due to my surgery, but what I had sure was good!

***Better get goin'...I'll keep you posted!
