Prodigal Blogger!

***Hey everyone! Well, today's my last day at the Post Office. They had a surprise party for me today, it was really nice. I ate a little junk, but not too much! I don't dare.

***I'm SO looking forward to our trip! I still have to pack when I get home, but that's okay. Won't take too long!

***Now my protege and I will really have to hustle to get our work done that we have to do today, since we had a bit of an interruption there.

***Better get at it...have a great day, all!

Still Hoppin'...

***Still training my replacement and trying to keep up with my transcription. Wow, getting up at 2:00 a.m. is *really* getting old! Still, I'm grateful for the work and that I'm able to do it.

***Lunchtime right now & I'm taking a break. Keeping up with my blogging has become an issue, too! I enjoy it, though, so I always find a way to squeeze it in.

***I have officially lost 151 lbs. with my Roux-en-Y bypass surgery. I went here for mine, and my only regret is that I didn't do it 10 years ago.

***Well, more to do. Have a great day!

Here we go again...

***My schedule is nutz this week! Up at 2:00 a.m., home about 5:30, more transcription until about 7:00, fall into bed. Boy, am I gonna be ready for vacation!

***This is why I love Sarah Palin.

***Required reading.

*** Found a fun site for beach stuff. Trouble is, it's too late to order anything before I go. Looks like I'll have to make a run to Wal-Mart!

***This is sickening.

***Ugh, need to find something positive after that. How about this?

Late To The Party!

***What a day! I hope I survive my last week at the Post Office - sheesh!

***I just discovered these...I hope they make a T-Shirt available soon. I'll buy 10.

***If you ever burn a Mia Bella candle, you won't want to burn anything else! They have such a pleasant scent, and last a long time. Sweet Orange & Chili Pepper is my favorite scent.

***Gonna be short and sweet today...see ya tomorrow!!

Happy Sunday!

***Good morning! I trust you are all having a good day so far. It's going to be beautiful here in Indiana, I plan to take a bike ride later. Haven't been getting much exercise in lately and that's gotta change.
***Worthwhile petition to read and sign. Check out this web site and become informed about the disaster of a health care plan the president and his liberal cohorts are attempting to foist on this country.
***You gotta see of these days I'll learn how to embed videos on my blog! This one is funny, it's a rather unorthodox wedding entrance.
***One more week, and I'll get to see this! The Atlantic Ocean...I am really looking forward to that. I've heard people try to describe the ocean and most people have trouble putting it into words.
***Charleston Magazine is a big reason my daughter and her husband moved to South Carolina, she got an internship there this summer. Looks like a great magazine; made even better, of course, by her contributions!
***Better get some work done before heading to church. Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Weekend Stuff

***Here we go, another busy weekend! After work this morning, I plan to spend some time with my mother, then come home and transcribe...or, veg out and leave the transcription until tomorrow. That sounds pretty good!

***If you like high school marching band, here's a great place to see some clips of Indiana bands in action. The shows these kids put together are amazing!

***Translation: "I meant every word I said, but you morons are trying to make me look bad by holding me accountable for my words."

***Interesting poll. Health care "reform" is waking some people up, finally.

***We have several Amish families in our area. They have a food store with home grown/homemade food that is out of this world! I get a fresh baked pie every week, and their deli is to die for! If you have a store anywhere near you, check it out! You'll not find better food anywhere.

Have a great Saturday!

If You Don't Read Anything Else Today...

*** this. It's Rush's opening monologue yesterday regarding Obama's press conference. He nails it again and again. Very informative, check it out!

***One week to go! Next Friday is my official retirement date. I'm excited, and a little nervous. This will be quite a life change, but I'm looking forward to it. The Post Office has been good to me & I'm grateful.

***4-H is a wonderful organization to be involved with. There are lots of county 4-H fairs going on right now in Indiana, and they are a joy to attend. Looking at all the projects done by the young people involved is great fun! I showed horses when I was in 4-H, and absolutely loved it. If you have an organization close to you, it is a great thing to get your kids involved with.

***Have a wonderful day, y'all!

eBay Queen!

***Hey there! I chose this title because I'm selling everything in our house that's not nailed down on eBay to earn some money to blow in South Carolina! It's going really well, too. EBay's awesome!

***Gonna have to be short today, got lots to do and only a little time in which to do it. That seems to be the story of my life!!

***Did you suffer through the press conference last night? I couldn't get past the statement that the government was going to make health care more cost effective and efficient. THAT would certainly be a first.

***Have a great day, everyone!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Good Morning!

***My hunt for another transcription client goes on. My early retirement date is July 31, and I want another office for a little insurance against EMR, which has taken a little of my business. Electronic Medical Records platforms have a letter generator template that some doctors are using. It's very cut and dried and not personalized, but it saves them the trouble of dictating. It's too bad when "good enough" is good enough. Most of my docs still use me and just scan my letters into their EMR programs, but enough have switched to make me a little nervous, hence my search for another office.

***After all my excitement about the new Harry Potter movie, I haven't had time to go see it yet! It certainly is doing well so far, and I've heard from people who've seen it that it's the best one yet. Hopefully I'll be able to get to the theater this weekend to see it. There is rarely anything on at the movies that I want to see...Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the last movie I went to! That was, what, three years ago?? Tells you how impressed I am with what Hollywood puts out, doesn't it?

***Hillary, honey, you look like the great pumpkin in this outfit. Check out the picture over at the Drudge Report. Not trying to be unkind or anything, but sheesh.

***Here's a good place to become informed about this health care disaster that Barack Obama is advocating. Learn, and learn fast.

***"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." -- William James

***Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Good Tuesday, Y'all!

***Gonna be a beautiful day here in Indiana. We have had unseasonably cool weather here lately...I'm not complaining! I'm sure there are some hot days ahead, and I plan to enjoy every one of them.

***Here is a place I want to visit before the summer is over. It's Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana. I have never been there, but I've heard it's a really great amusement park. We haven't been to Kings Island yet this year, either. The water rides are my favorite...I hope we can make it to at least one of those places before summer's end.

***Our South Carolina trip is getting closer and closer! My daughter is dreaming up lots of things for us to do...I can't wait!

***This is interesting. I have a feeling 2012 is not gonna be a good year for the Democrats. I only hope 2010 isn't, either.

***"Morality, like art, means drawing a line someplace." -- Oscar Wilde

***Have a great day, everyone!

Monday, July 20, 2009

Oy! Monday!

***Wow, 3:30 a.m. came way too quickly this morning! My peepers don't wanna peep!

***Well, the new Harry Potter movie is a big hit! Here's a list of the top movies, it set a record on its first day. I haven't been to see it yet, but I plan to this week.

***My goodness, was there ever a President more clueless regarding foreign policy than Barack Obama? Now he wants Israel to stop Jews from buying and building IN JERUSALEM!

***Here is a sobering article.

***Indianapolis is the capital of my state of Indiana. It's about an hour away from me. There is so much to do there! It's a great city...visit if you get a chance!

***Better get busy, have a great Monday!

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Busy Sunday

***Yep, gonna have to make up for lost time today. I didn't transcribe at all yesterday, so today I will be playing catchup.

***We sang "Shout to the Lord" this morning in our church service. Beautiful song. Here is a video of Darlene Zschech singing it. Wow.

***Heehee! Check this out! Good for a giggle!

***Gary Sinise is one of my favorite actors. There aren't many in Hollywood who deserve much respect, unfortunately, but Sinise is one with character. His support for our troops is enough to make me a fan, but he is also a great actor. Love him in Forrest Gump!

***Well, better stop playing and start working. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Saturday, July 18, 2009

The Weekend

***I'm running out of clever titles for my blog posts. Jim Sondergeld over at Hard Starboard is really good at that, maybe I could get him to coach me.

***We got my daughter's wedding dress and accessories from David's Bridal. They really have beautiful dresses, and the one she picked was reasonably priced. I'm finding that the accessories resell very nicely on eBay, too!

***This should not be rushed! I believe Barack Obama is trying to push it through quickly because he does not want people to become more informed about what a disaster it is going to be if it passes. Something this important needs slow, deliberate debate, not a rush job like the Cap&Trade boondoggle that the people voting on it didn't even read. That is abhorrent. He needs some stiff resistance on this, it needs to be stopped. Call your Senators and Representative! Here is information on it, become informed and involved!

***Here's a great idea. America's Family Yard Sale. Check it out!

***My husband's watching the British Open. Tom Watson is leading! There's a blast from the past for you.

Have a great Saturday!

Friday, July 17, 2009

***Went to the first marching band competition of the summer last night. Those kids really know how to put on a show. For more info on Indiana Track Shows, go to the State Fair Band Day web site.

***I ate a whole hot dog last night! For those of you thinking "soooo???" let me say that my stomach is only about the size of a golf ball, so I have to eat really slowly and chew really well to get that much in it. If I overdo it, I pay for it, believe me! I really enjoyed that hot dog. Sometimes I can do that, other times I can only eat 3-4 bites and I'm full. Go figure.

***I've been listening to some of my soundtracks from Broadway musicals, which I love. My all-time favorite is The Phantom of the Opera. Never was there written a more beautiful score, or a more haunting love story. I never tire of watching it and/or listening to the music from it. Andrew Lloyd Webber is a genius!

***Okay, lunchtime at the Post Office is about over, so I'm gonna have to cut this short. Have a great Friday, everyone!!

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Quick Tips!

***Hey, for all you medical transcriptionists out there, if you haven't discovered it yet, put this site in your favorites. If you need to find a drug spelling, you'll more than likely find it there. You can put it what it sounds like, and it'll find it for you. Great resource!

***For other medical terms, try Merriam-Webster Online's medical dictionary. I've found that very helpful, too.

***Locks of Love is a non-profit organization which provides hair pieces to financially disadvantaged children who suffer from hair loss because of a medical condition. My son is growing his hair long enough to donate it. I don't like the way his hair looks now, but now that I know why he's doing it, it's okay!

***Impending disaster. This is what government-run health care looks like.

***Got your tickets yet? Sean Hannity's Freedom Concerts - coming to a city near you!

***Time to man up, GOP. Time to pick sides. Rush is right--again.

***"Every government intereference in the economy consists of giving an unearned benefit, extorted by force, to some men at the expense of others." -- Ayn Rand

Have a great day, everyone!

Busy, Busy

***Well, today's my day off, but it's gonna be a busy one! I always play catch-up in my business on Wednesday. Got a few more things to list on eBay sometime today, too.

***If you have any doubts about the insidious nature of the Cap&Tax bill Obama and the Democrats are pushing through Congress, read this.

***Hmmm. Well, this is interesting.

***On to lighter things...I know I've posted this before, but Click is the best energy/nutrition drink I've ever tried. It's good hot or cold, try it!

***Here's my dream vehicle. The Cadillac Escalade. Not gonna happen anytime soon unless I win the lottery, which will be difficult since I don't play!

***This is what we're renting to drive to South Carolina. A Toyota Sequoia. Okay, I could settle for that...

Better get busy...have a great day, everyone!

Tuesday Musings

***There's a great new Christian station in Richmond, Indiana, it's 89.3 The Promise. They play great contemporary Christian music. If you're in the area, check 'em out!

***Rush Limbaugh: "We already know the stimulus has failed in its stated purpose. Why, then, would we trust these same people with nationalized health care?" Good question, don't you think?

***Wednesday's the day! Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince. Looks like this one's even darker than the last one. Can't wait to see it!

***Hey, if you haven't tried Burger King's new garden salads, do it! The crispy chicken is my favorite.

***Try this stuff!!! It's called Fuze, and it's awesome! I like just about every flavor I've tried. I haven't tried any of the teas because I don't really care for tea, but the rest of them are great. They have good stuff in 'em, too.

***We are having an absolutely glorious day here in Indiana. Sunny, low 80s, low humidity. One nice thing about being retired is I'll be able to enjoy them, and not just at lunchtime.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Monday, July 13, 2009

Monday, Monday

***Here we go again, another week! I got a lot of work done yesterday, but not nearly enough! Had the family over for a cookout, we do that a lot. Then, of course, we played cornhole!

***If you haven't seen the Evian "Skating Babies" video, check it out. It's hilarious!

***Best Sign I've seen in a while. "Reduce Your Government Footprint." As if.

***I like House. I really enjoyed the first three seasons. I don't think it's as good now. I don't really like any of the new characters, and they kinda turned it into a soap opera. It's still entertaining, though. House is a complex want to like him, but it's *real* difficult to. I watch the episodes when they come out on DVD since I rarely have time to watch TV. That way I can just watch an episode when I have time. I haven't seen season 5 yet, but I didn't like season 4 nearly as well as the first three. I hope season 5 is better.

***Gotta get busy...have a great day, everyone!

Sunday Musings

***This is a great idea! A "courage bracelet" honoring one of our heroes fighting for our freedom. There's a link over to the right, too. Check it out!

***Weighing in on the Sarah Palin flap. I love her! I don't blame her for wanting to get her state and her family out of the media's crosshairs. Ann Coulter sums it up perfectly.

***I was listening to Irish dance music yesterday, and it brought back some great memories of accompanying my daughter to her Feisanna, which are traditional Irish dance competitions. She was really good, and had reached the Preliminary Championship level. She broke her foot in a competition and had to stop, or I have no doubt she would have eventually made it to the World Championships. That was her goal. This was her dance studio, the Celtic Academy of Irish Dance. If you ever get a chance to see a demonstration or a competition, do it! It's awesome.

***Okay, I bragged about one kid, now I gotta brag about the other one. He's a Motion Picture Production major at Wright State University. No doubt the next Steven Spielberg! I haven't seen any of the short films he's done for projects yet, but I hope to soon. We'll have to get our hands on a 16 mm projector somehow, since that's how he took them.

***Better get some work done and get ready for church. Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Saturday, July 11, 2009

***I'm a little late to the party today. I worked this morning, went to Meijer, and have been listing stuff on eBay for the rest of the afternoon! Trying to get some spending money on my PayPal card in anticipation of our South Carolina trip. PayPal is awesome, and a really safe way to pay for things online. When I sell things on eBay, the money goes right into my PayPal account. I have a PayPal debit card and can use it anywhere that takes Visa or MasterCard, or I can transfer the money to my checking or savings account.

***I'm selling my GT Express 101 cooker. That's the only item I've ever bought from an infomercial, and I never even took it out of the box. Oh well.

***Amazing the stuff you find when you're scrounging around the house and garage for stuff to sell on eBay. We had a brand new Oster blender out in the garage, I had forgotten all about it. We decided to keep that, I might learn how to make smoothies or something. Or...we might just leave it out there and come across it again in a year or two.

***Oh really? Geez, I'd hate to see what the economy would be like if it WASN'T working...

***Have a great Saturday evening!

Friday, July 10, 2009

Yay! Friday!

***I don't know what I'm so excited about, I always have to work on Saturday...

***Check out Mark Steyn's web site. He's savvy and funny, and I love it when he guest hosts Rush's show as he has been doing this week.

***Oh MAN, this looks good...

***I've lost 146 lbs. in the last year, but I'm really having trouble getting out of the "fat chick" mindset. I keep ordering clothes that are too big. It's hard for me to imagine myself in "normal" sizes. I'm ordering sizes smaller than before, obviously, but not small enough. Gotta work on that.

***Y'know, I've always want to see the Mall of America. However, I'm pretty ticked at the people of Minnesota for sending Keith Ellison, uber-liberal, and now Al flippin' Franken, uber-idiot, to Washington. I think I'll vacation elsewhere.

***I'm sending my final retirement papers in today...I'm excited and nervous at the same time. July 31, 2009!!

***Support our troops -- every chance you get!

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Back At It...

***Back to my 3:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. schedule today. Not much longer, though! I'll be officially retired from the Post Office on July 31. I'm taking advantage of the early retirement offer they gave. I'll have more time to devote to my business, which will be a good thing. I'm hoping to grow it before Obama completely ruins the economy.

***Now THIS is crazy!! I hope they make it.

***I like Tiger Woods. He doesn't seem as full of himself as most professional athletes do. Did you know his real name is "Eldrick Tont Woods?" I'd change it, too...

***Here was the greatest baseball team of all time, the Big Red Machine. Bench, Rose, Morgan, Concepcion, Perez, just doesn't get any better than that.

***If you like contemporary Christian music, check out Casting Crowns. They have a great sound and solid lyrics, not "fluff" like you hear from so many current "pop" Christian groups.

Have a great day, everyone!

Wednesday, July 8, 2009

What Day Off?

***Okay, I'm off today from my Post Office job, but my business never stops. That's a good thing, of course! Just taking a break now from my transcription to pop in and post. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday!

***Stick to your guns, guys. Sonya Sotomayor is a horrible choice for the Supreme Court.

***Dumb quote of the day: "The future does not belong to those who gather armies on a field of battle or bury missiles in the ground." So says Barack Obama, who will go down in history as one of the worst presidents we've ever elected. Who does the future belong to then, Obama? Those who would appease terrorists and tinpot you? If we drop our guard, then of COURSE so will they...right? We are living in dangerous times, and we elected a neophyte who knows nothing of foreign policy to lead us through these times. Sheesh.

***Okay, enough of that. Here is a great military blog...thank a soldier today!

***On a lighter's a site full of funny stories. Guaranteed to make you giggle!!

***Back when we had a real president...:

"In the defense of our nation, the president must be a clear-eyed realist. There are limits to the smiles and scowls of diplomacy. Armies and missiles are not stopped by stiff notes of condemnation. They are held in check by strength and purpose and the promise of swift punishment." -- George W. Bush

Tuesday, July 7, 2009

***Sorry to be MIA yesterday. Work, work, work! I barely had time to breathe, much less post!

***I knew this woman was dumb. This, however, has to be the dumbest House resolution *ever*. A House of Representatives resolution honoring Michael Jackson? Is there not enough going on in the world to keep these people busy??

***Here's the latest issue of The Grace Journal. There is some great Bible teaching here.

***This is just the coolest web site. It's called and it's a recipe sharing site. Readers rate different recipes, contribute their favorites, etc. Check it out!

***Our South Carolina vacation is getting closer! I can't wait! I've never seen the ocean, and I am SO looking forward to swimming in it, seeing the beach, just RELAXING. I'll be taking my laptop along with me and doing some work, of course, but not nearly as much.

***Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. -- Ronald Reagan

Sunday, July 5, 2009

***Our pastor gave us a good challenge this morning. Whenever we are tempted to complain about our country, he charged us to pray for her instead. I've done my share of complaining...not about America, but about what our current "leadership" is doing to her. He's right, though, if we spent half as much time praying as we do complaining, we could effect a lot more change. Therefore, I'm going to do my best to remember to pray BEFORE I complain.

***He also went over many quotes from the Founders regarding the Christian principles this country was founded on. No matter what you hear from the "intellectuals," we are a Christian nation founded on Christian principles, and the further away we get from those principles, the worse off we will be. That is evident all around us.

***"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other." -- John Adams

***"This is all the inheritance I give to my dear family. The religion of Christ will give them one which will make them rich indeed." -- Patrick Henry

***Check out the BarBeQue Man!!

***Hope you had a great time with your family and/or friends yesterday. We had a wonderful time! Lots of eatin' and cornhole playin'. We got a new gas grill, and I gotta say I like it a lot better than the charcoal grill. It's so much easier to control the temperature.

***Next time you grill out, try these stuffed burgers. I did it's easy, and they're delicious!

***We have enough leftover hamburgers and hot dogs to suffice for dinner and lunch for the next three days! Fortunately, that stuff is good warmed up in the microwave.

Have a great Sunday!

Saturday, July 4, 2009

Happy Independence Day!

***Back to basics.

***Thank a soldier.

***Pray for our troops.

***Awesome video - Celine Dion singing "God Bless America" with video of our beautiful land. May we wake up and save it before it's too late.

***Hope you get to spend time with your family today! There's nothing more important than that. James Dobson's Focus on the Family web site is a great source of information, inspiration, instruction, and advice regarding the family and the impact we can make on the world as Christians. Check it out.

***Well, I have work and housecleaning to do before MY family gets here for a cookout later today. Hope you all have a happy and blessed 4th!!

Friday, July 3, 2009

***I have turned into a flavored coffee hound. I absolutely love the stuff, and I'm spending way too much money on it! Here's a great web site with recipes for iced and flavored coffee. I'm not as big on iced coffee, but I absolutely love lattes and mochas. I gotta start learning to make these bad boys myself, or I'm gonna be in the poorhouse!

***I mentioned a few days ago that we will be going to South Carolina to visit my daughter and her husband in early August. In order to make some spending money, I'm going to be listing anything I can find in the house on eBay! I've found that books and the large size clothes that I had before I lost weight really sell well. Also, I've sold a lot of DVDs, CDs, etc. Just about anything will sell if you list it right.

***The meaning of Independence.

***Soldiers' Angels is a wonderful organization and a great way to show your support for our troops. You can adopt a soldier and send him/her packages, letters, etc. in order to show your gratitude for what they're doing for us. Check it out! My latest soldier is coming home in July, so I'll be getting another soldier soon.

Have a great holiday!!

Thursday, July 2, 2009

***We're having our annual 4th of July party this evening. Yeah, I know it's the 2nd! There'll be lots of food, fun, cornhole, badminton, and fireworks! What does your family do for the 4th?

***Here is a place I'd love to visit someday. Mount Rushmore is tops on my list of places I wanna go...after that I want to go to Disney World!

***Speaking of traveling, of course Hawaii is pretty high up on the list, too. I think it's probably on just about everyone's list. I've never heard of someone going to Hawaii and coming back and saying, "Ahhh, it was okay, nothing special." No, I usually hear the word "paradise" in the description. Someday I'm gonna see it!

***Oh, and for a Caribbean cruise! Wow, those ships are could have a great vacation and never leave port.

***Here's the place to go for majesty. I've always wanted to see the Rocky Mountains. I'll stop by there on the way to Hawaii...

Have a great day, everyone!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

***The Joke's on us.

***Geez. Mark Sanford really is a sleaze, isn't he? No wonder the liberal women are going ga-ga over him. It's Bill Clinton all over again.

***Y'know, I don't even like cats. But this has to be the cutest picture ever!

***Speaking of pictures, here is a web site devoted to them. There are some really neat ones here, check it out!

***I'm hooked on Tim Hortons cafe mocha. It's a lot cheaper than Starbuck's and Bear Creek, and it's GOOOOOD!

***If you like movies, Netflix is a great place to get 'em. They have a huge inventory, and they're really fast in getting them to you.

Have a great day, everyone!
